Ghosts of the Ancestors. (A Cultivation Riot Quest).

The actions taken so far and their results, might not be a 100% correct as i did this during a short break between meetings but should be good enough to plan the remaining actions for the turn for those still planning on doing some.
Mostly we are short 1 pure Qi(and need to buy that for 2CC if not produced) and are close to getting a Yin Siphon. Looking at the amount of pure Qi we use we might want to work on making one or more Pure Qi Siphons as autofailing to reduce dc's and refining gear both seem to use that type(as they get no benefit from stronger more expensive types)

Qi reserve [24/31]
-pure 14. +5 Gathered -4 attempt to break through -10 Clear a meridian -6 Further refine a basic weapon = -1 Pure Qi
-water 8. -1 Refine his senses
-Yin 2. +1 gathered
fire 1 (pills)

[] craft a Qi siphon [1/7 crafted]- with their knowledge the ancestors can manipulate the Qi around Guang Li spiritual roots into a whirlpool drawing in ambient Qi into his dantian without his or their intervention, unfortunately without active guidance they cannot take advantage of the clear meridians to draw even more Qi.
-[] pure [0/30]. +1 pure Qi per turn.
-[] water [23/90]. +1 Water Qi per turn.
-[] Yin [80/170]. +1 Yin Qi per turn.
80+6+8+4+6+2+7+7+9+7=136

[] Merge Qi [0/15 per Qi use in the merge). Note: I'm not going to add all of the possible types and their effect's so as a rule thumb advanced Qi get everything the Qi they are made out of plus a little extra, if you want to know specific QI type ask me.
-[] ice [0/30] water + Yin.
0+5=5

[ ] Teach Guang Li.

-[ ] Yang Qi [5/60]
5+(6*1.4)=13

[ ] The life line- with some work and adaptation the wrath ghost can crave a path into Guang Li lifeline making drawing the power of blood for his body far easier, by necessity they would go slow as to not hurt him [228/300]. Reduce the needed progress for the cut away life by 5.
-[ ] the fast route. -5 Hp, 3x time the progress. x1

We don't need a pure siphon at this point, given how easy it is to get pure qi if even a quarter of the people who tried for a yin Siphon had instead gathered we would be well out of pure debt, so I'm hoping that once that is done at least some people will put their effort into gathering qi again

Frankly with our multipliers for qi gathering I'm not entirely sure that qi siphons are that much better for us over just gathering qi and using it to upgrade our dice , or using that progress to upgrade our root.
we should have a 1.6 multiplier after this turn and if we can scrounge together another 40 cc we can buy another 0.5 to add to that.

There a long term investment and I have noticed that many questers treat long term investments as "get it done early so we can recoup the pay off" instead of "think hard if your character is even in a position to invest in his future"

I mean even if the Yin Qi was earned directly from the progress through the siphon it would only earn 14-16 (depending on meridian state) when we have a target goal of 50 and reasons to regularly spend five (plus likely new yin based refining options to unlock)

Well we will need Yin long enough and hard enough for the siphon to eventually pay off.

If we could somehow merge the siphons together to make an advanced qi siphon (example: merging our water and future yin siphon into an ice siphon), or upgrading one so we get more than one qi at a time that would make them more valuable imo, but at present I'm not convinced going hardcore into siphon making is worth it at present.

What do the wisdom ghost think of doing this as their next major project:
[] Search for the maker of the chalice and the water it was designed to use [0/75]. Reveal what special type of water is supposed to be utilized by the chalice and a way to get it.
As with regular water we get to use one Water Qi as Reflection Qi, and with the proper water this might be increased:

Reflection, a return of what is sent, be it light, matter or anything else
Body refining: +2 con, 2x dex gains, 4x gain for Perception, intelligence and wisdom.
QC: 3x progress, +2 con 2x dex gains, 4x gain for Perception, intelligence and wisdom.
FE: ??
Cf: ??

Special: 4x to all spiritual/mental characteristics when used (already included in the stated attribute gain),2x progress or +5 on the roll for spiritual/mantel actions (this includes refining, meridians, the middle dantian, creating a Qi well, the power of thought and that basically it for what you have unlocked).

Making It the best Qi to use for several BR actions but as it needs to be the majority we can currently only use it for ones that only take 1.

@uri
if we refine:
-[ ] Refine his nerves. Cost 2 Qi per time taken [24/60]. Refined nerves II (+2 Dexterity).
to 47/60 with just pure Qi and then use Reflection Qi for the action that completes is do we get the bonus from Reflection Qi?
This would require us to brew a Reflection Qi pill to get the second Reflection Qi needed

No point, using fire qi doubles the bonus already. A fancy qi has to more then double to be better then fire

Reflection is +2 con 2x dex gains so we end up with +2 con compared with fire.

But for mental related BR it realy shines:

-[ ] Refine his mind. Cost 3 Qi per time taken [0/75]. Refined mind (+1 Intelligence. increased comprehension speed).
Would be +4 Intelligence, +2 con with reflection

-[ ] Refine his senses. Cost 1 Qi per time taken [0/30]. Refined sense I (+1 Perception).
Would be +4 Perception, +2 con with reflection(we are currently using Reflection for this)

Until we find a better way to get more than 1 reflection qi per turn fire is probably better most of the time. Now, if we ever find a body refining part that boosts Dex and any mental stat for only 1 qi per roll reflection will basically be made for that. Otherwise we'll probably be sticking to fire for br and water for qc for the time being

LET'S GOOOOO

I can finally unleash my wrath.

Probably

And then some. So now gathering blood qi will only require 25 progress per qi, and if there isn't another level of the life line then a lot of Wrath ghosts will have to find something else to do with their actions

[X] Pay the fee for one of the hall exams (required to get accepted by a hall) for 20 30CC.
-[X] The Alchemy hall. (medium alchemy skills).
[X] Teach Guang Li.
-[X] Breakthrough [Advanced] [50/100]. Raise the breakthrough skill to 2.
Mortenkam threw 2 6-faced dice. Total: 11
5 5 6 6

BTW seeing as you're finally getting into the alchemy hall and you reached alchemy 3, this means I can finally bust out the mass production rules for Guang Li.

So basically, when utilizing a pill furnace (part of advanced tools) to concoct the same instance of pill/elixir, each instance of the pill above the first gives double production value of the previous one (up to a limit decided by the tool ranks, for our case this being 4).

For an example, let's say you brew fire pills. This requires 2 score on the alchemy roll per pill and lets say you rolled 10.

Normally this would mean 5 pills were brewed.

With your skill sufficient for mass production and the tools for it being available you instead brew 1+2+4+4+4 pills for a total of 15. 3 times the production value.

You still need to pay all the herb costs and can only produce pills of that one kind.

This is how the sect can basically supply everyone with pills (at such low prices) when less of a tenth of its members are dedicated alchemists.

Breakthrough currently at 80/100. Just saying, in case there's anyone still hanging around who could push it over the top.

Just went back and double checked, and Sunrise's tally above is accurate up to the post itself. Just add the stuff that's been rolled since and that's the results so far.

Edit: And those mass production rules are really something! Gonna make it a bit easier to get fire qi for body refining in the future!

Cool.

Especially if we can buddy up with our friends (in your example: Imagine we had the 10 rolled in the fire pills but only herbs for 5 pills. But then our friends decide they want fire pills too and pay us in herbs (and potentially some pocketmoney)

Profit all around.
