If only Seraphine had some kind of device that could keep her from accidentally magic-ing.

Doesn't stop her from being magic. The detector was supposed to go off just from Jinx (then Powder) being around her. I wouldn't be happy with introducing Seraphine in an area without Hextech magic chaff to drown her out magically.

"Yeah, I know how that goes." I turned the device on, but nothing happened. "Is it supposed to do anything?"

Jayce nodded. "It should light up if it detects any residual magic in the area."

"Like if someone in the room had been in close contact with a mage earlier today, this thing would be going nuts?" I asked.

There's a reason my preferred solution prioritizes getting Seraphine a device she can point at. Something so loud that she can hide behind it.

If it is who I'm thinking, I'm curious if it'll be their peppy version or their observant assassin-style version. I never played LoL, but those seem to be their common portrayals.

One nice and proper, one more informal. And Jinx is interesting for better and worse, much better than being stuff and fake.

Also, regarding which version of Lux we are dealing with. I think unlike Jinx, Lux isn't going to be her genuine self here at first. She's either peppy and going to act like the assassin role, or she's like the assassin but is going to act peppy. At least that's my guess, just based on how I would use her.

My read of Lux is like, obnoxiously peppy facade hiding observant spy-assassin persona, which is itself a facade concealing a persona of somewhat more subdued 'real' peppiness, which is itself a facade for the closeted mage cripplingly aware of how her people would turn on her in an instant if they knew what she was, and then under that is a true core of cheery optimism in the face of it all.

She's like an onion. She has layers. :3

I uh. Have reservations about Lux showing up. I really dislike the way a lot of fandom views their dynamic.

But I'll see how it goes in quest first.

I've definitely seen a few odd takes on how the two characters would interact, but that's inevitable in shipping fandoms. Especially when there's always the elements in shipping fandom who seem to be more interested in writing the characters as avatars for their own ideas on romance (or porn) than actually capturing the characters authentically. Not to mention both characters have had lore tweaks over the years, Pre-Arcane Jinx was a pretty different character, after all.

(Not even touching on the truly toxic stuff. Just saying, Jinx's two most popular ships are an interracial one and a homosexual one, and we all know there are people on the internet who will be awful about that).

I do hope to avoid any issues on that front since I'm coming in as someone who liked both characters for a long time before I knew they were a ship. Back when I was playing League and maining Lux it was before they'd even added Jinx to the game. It was kinda surprising to find out that my favorite character from League 10+ years ago was a super-popular ship with my favorite character from Arcane.

While I'm always down to write some cute gay romance, I'd rather tell a good Jinx story where Lux is a supporting character than a bad LightCannon one. If nothing else, it'd feel wrong not to have a [ ] Kiss vs [ ] Let's Stay Friends vote in a Quest, so players get to make the final call.

Lux is an ogre?!

Though more seriously, layers are good. I do enjoy characters who have a few different angles.

What Jinx is hearing is, she needs to get cooked so she can mellow out? :V

Honestly despite voting against it this time for character knowledge reasons, I am looking forward to Lux and Seraphine interactions, since they make pretty good foils. Both closeted aurora borealis causers, but Lux is (probably) layers of different personas and misdirection and necessary cognitive dissonance, while Seraphine despite her secrets, is otherwise almost painfully earnest and wears her heart on her sleeve in a big way. And they're both great.

Plus the light vs sound aesthetic themes

That seems really sensible! I respect the approach and self-restraint. ^u^

Precisely! XD

"What's wrong with pants?!"

I admit. I laughed at that scene.

IMO there's also an elephant in the Room. Zeri. While Seraphine is a zaunite mage who moved to piltover and Lux is a secret Demacian mage. I can think of another mage who stays in the undercity, that being Zeri with lightning powers which she too finds difficult to control.

Cool design, would probably fit in great with the firelights. But yeah. There doesn't need to be every league character make a cameo.

Just so long as we get a talking cat riding on a floating book. :D

So out of curiosity - how does the thread see Jinx taking a member of the witch hunt specialists extremely not happy with mages city state to see Seraphine, her aurora borealis spotter record holder friend being explained?

I'm mentally comparing this to introducing a cousin from a fairly conservative family branch and area to an LGBT friend who while able to be low key does semi regularly out themselves in conversation.

This is an obvious non meta-gaming situation of "hmm, these two things may not mix well" from Jinx's perspective. This sets up Jinx to be lackadaisical/sloppy in safeguarding Seraphine's secret.

What I see from the thread is that it just want to see Seraphine's Band and haven't thought about the ramifications of the interaction between the two of them.

We have 41 votes for Hextech, 39 for Seraphine, 15 for Firelights, and 12 for Academy.

Let's just hope miraculously nothing will go wrong, or if/when it does, Lux's sympathy for a fellow mage will override her internalized Demacian biases, I guess. >.<;

Aaaaaaaaaaaaa

And Jinx having hex crystals in her pocket to essentially drown out Seraphine magically in the nothing going wrong scenario

You've brought this up three times that I can remember and I'm still not sure what scenario it's actually supposed to help in. Do you think the main threat to Seraphine is people walking around with magic Geiger counters?

It's unfortunate but these sort of things just happen sometimes. We'll just have to count on Jinx to keep Lux distracted some how, preferably by breaking her equipment with too much Hextech.
