Aang keeping anyone in line would require he enter the Avatar state. He doesn't exactly have the most....forceful or commanding personality.
And Toph would have the issue of Earth Kingdom culture (women don't command etc) even if she has the bold-as-brass attitude (and power) to make her point clearly stated.

Also there are a lot of generals across the EK front of the war and Team Avatar can only be in one place at a time.

All good points. In general, I don't think we should expect much in terms of restraint from the earth kingdom army. Hopefully their won't be any Jet's willing to drown entire communities to strike a blow against the fire nation among the ones that act out.

Main benefit is that the EK army tends to be rather conservative in their tactics and thinking. So while there might be Jets running around the occupied regions, the army will be far easier to anticipate and counter.

Continuing the imperial machinations of the previous Fire Lord will only alienate us from Zuko and encourage Aang to step in and determine what peace will look like. Our main priority should be legitimizing Zuko's rule and setting the foundations for lasting peace, not creating a situation where Earth and Fire enter a cold war over territorial claims. Peace will begin with us, and if the Earth Kingdom isn't receptive, hopefully our Fire Lord's personal connection to the Avatar will give us the edge in potential future conflict.

Voting will be structured a bit differently on this one: the first vote, the one relating to his deal, should be voted on freely. Only the deal with Amari vote should be free voted. The army general orders and four actions need to be in plan format. Please give my write ins fair consideration. There intended to give us an edge both against subversive internal elements and in negotiations for retaining the colonies.

A rough attempt at mapping out the situation in the Earth Kingdom. Going by wiki locations and how fresh the Fire Nation's occupation of the area was from what we could see.

Dark Red = Old Colonies
Red = New Territories
Orange = Occupied Lands

Edit:
Wasn't quite sure about the border between the northern New Territories and Occupied Lands, so the New Territories could push a bit further east. There rest is pretty much a shoe-in. We got borders of the United Republic for the Old Colonies and we sort of know the area of occupation from the show.

No, but how certain are we that there's not EK generals keen to earn glory and accolades by attacking us? Or say, avenging the past century or so of being ground into dust?

After all, it's not like anyone on their side would oppose it.

Frankly, as we are making our bed by aligning with the military, leaving evidence which could be used to destabilize it and justify the surrender of the new territories seems foolish. We used a creation vote to establish a power base within the military, and if we want to effectively transition to peace it needs to be maintained.

I think given what Amari said about the weakness of the Imperial House I feel like we should have celebrations to try and shore that up. Though with bringing soldiers into the capital, that's basically going to put a dagger at our throats in the hand of Amari. If we want troops in the capital for defence against a coup, we should bring those soldiers in ourselves and not rely on Amari to do so, lest we give Amari the power to also do a coup. Edit: Amari seems "loyal" to the Firelord so a direct coup against Zuko to replace him seems unlikely, but I still don't think we should trust Amari with something this important and I wouldn't want to see him try to "constrain" the Firelord with those troops if we really mess up the peace process.
