Choosing the Oasis for the purpose of creating a Boom town. Given that there is only one permanent settlement, and the low living standards, there will probably be a large immigration flow into the colony, and the Oasis will help with sustaining our population. Only issue I foresee is that there is probably already a large group of native population due to the water source, but that shouldn't be too much of a problem as long as we treat them fairly.
As to the other options, I'm opposed to the crossroads, since there will probably be pre-existing agreements between the tribes to prevent strife and territorial dispute, which we would probably be trampling over. No real objection to the ridge, but it seems a bit too overly cautious given the low population and technology regression. Unless there is some vault hidden somewhere with an army or WMDs, we're unlikely to see any real threat to our colony.
