We should probably try to get more predators of Blamps to solve the overcrowding issue, but for now, this works. Also Boom Blamps dying, hooray
Maybe something like...

[] Some Slina evolved a resin that they can spray from their second head that hardens and clogs up airways to suffocate prey. This kills Boom Blamps without exploding them, letting this Slina hunt them safely.

  • [X] Some Webweavers enter into a symbiotic relationship with Megablamps and Tent Megablamps. In exchange for being able to leech off the Megablamp, these Webweavers use their web to tether the Megablamp to the ruins so they can escape overcrowding, reeling the Blamps back in during breeding season.
[X] Some Mega Blamps begin to carry their eggs with them. This allows them to abandon the facilities entirely, moving on the winds.
[X] Some boom blamps gain the ability to release the stored energy to propel themselves from place to place.
[X] Some boom blamps develop less sensitive trigger mechanisms, causing them to only explode when badly wounded

012 (Bridge Weaving Drekin)

Bridge Weaving Drekin
Evolving from the Webweaving Drekin that live mutualisticly with the Tent Megablamps the Bridge Weaving Drekin create long ropes of their webs and will bind Megablamps, and Tent Megablamps into the Drekin Bridge back to the facility. The Bridge Weaving Drekin will drain vital fluids from their host to survive so the bridged Blamps need to stray far from the facilities to get enough light to support a swarm of the Bridge Weaving Drekin. Other Blamps can get caught in the bridges however only the Megablamps and Tent Megablamps can survive the draining that the Bridge Weaving Drekin use to feed. This often means a bridge will have several unlucky species of Blamps stuck and dead in the structure. The bridge is only at risk when capturing a Boom Blamp that can destroy a section and leave the Bridge Weaving Drekin colony and the captured Blamps to float off into the open skies. The rafts created this way can survive indefinitely but heavy storms can break them casting all into the depths of the world sky.

The Bridges threaten the Cluster Blamps the most but they can hide in the Tents of the Tent Megablamps to hide from the bridges. The other predators can use these bridges to climb up to the captured Blamps. The smaller size of the Bridge Weaving Drekin means many colony members will die fighting them off and younger bridge colonies and weakened ones can be overpowered. Some facilities have a trail of drifting bridges hanging off the side where dead Blamps and killed colonies are dragged through the deep sky.

[X] Some Slina lost their mouths and instead developed specialized, teeth-like spikes. They use them to literally suck out organs from their prey bodies. Those spikes allow them to pierce Drekin shells and have added benefit of allowing the Slina to also consume, stored Boom Blamp energy, allowing this Slina subspecies to safely attack and consume Boom Blamps.

[X] Some Harpoon Slina develop a new hunting strategy by secreting a sedative from their external tissue layers. It lets them booby-trap hunting perches and webs alike, so that both Drekin, Slina are viable prey. 'Trapped' in a web, they strike when their prey succumbs to the laced webs.

[X] Some Splitter Slina begin to draw in prey through suctioned force. By drawing air through one head and expelling it out the other they form a type of cyclone. By splitting one head may direct air away from or towards another to better manipulate their environment

[X] Some Slina evolved leeching mouthparts on both of its heads and gained a mutualistic relationship with the Vent Blamps. These Slina will attach themselves between two Vent Blamps, tethering them to each other while draining a little of their energy. By doing so they provide these Vent Blamps with a way to reach each other for breeding purposes, and the Vent Blamps would place their buds on the Slina itself, only needing to return to the ruins to seek shelter from storms.

The problem with adding more Boom Blamps at this point is that we are trading off the overcrowding pressure for New Boom Blamp Detonations, which doesn't exactly solve anything since you leave both Boom Blamp and New Boom Blamp with the same number of pressures, add an extra pressure to everyone on the ruins and still might not fix the overcrowding issue.

I'm in agreement here.
I think the proposed Boom Blamp option(s) could be explored through the Island Syndrome options when Boom Blamps go extinct, and maybe sometime for a new biome or otherwise?

013 (Jet Blamp)

Jet Blamps
Some Boom Blamps develop a process to release their energy in a controlled way to travel. This allows them to survive in the open sky further from the ruins without being lost to the storms. These Jet Blamps are thinner than their Boom Blamp ancestors to be able to resist wind resistance when traveling and have developed a more complex series of eyes to help them with targeting. However, the lower amount of energy they have on hand means the Jet Blamps have far less powerful explosions than the Boom Blamps, this allows Harpoon Silina and Webweaving Drekin to hunt them with far less risk than they would have hunting the Boom Blamps. This combined with the overcrowding near the ruins keeps most of the Jet Blamps in the sky unless a large storm comes.

The Jet Blamps have little impact on most of the other species in the world. However the Vent Blamps find the Jet Blamps in their airways and disrupt their migrations, the more powerful movements of the Jet Blamps allow them to get to the better regions faster and prevent the Vent Blamps from taking advantage of the best air currents. This begins a decline of the Vent Blamp populations that may see them become extinct.

"People make yet another Boom Blamp species".
"It drives into extinction another species and is general danger to ecosystem".

Who could have foreseen that?

To be fair, only two species were affected this time, so it's not nearly as bad as the original boom blamp.
