Pokemon Ranger: Crimson Dawn (No SV You are a Kanto Warlord)

So? Given Bill has a coin flip for INTERESTING TIMES, with known shenanagins he has been involved in research wise involving stuff like a teleporter incident causing something akin to the Detective Pikachu incident except by complete accident. To outright turning people into pokemon, which could turn someone into a legendary pokemon. So, anyone want to help with a 'Things Bill is not allowed to do'/'Lab safety guide?'

  • Do not, I mean DO NOT GIVE BILL COFFEE when he is trying to do an all-nighter.
  • Should another transformation incident happen, remember the emergency moon stone stash exists for a reason.
  • Please inform Professor Oak if you hear what sounds like stereotypical mad scientist laughter.
  • Don't leave Blaine and Bill unattended together while they are at work.
  • PLEASE DONT DO POKEMON BATTLES IN THE LAB, even if you are trying to catch a legendary
    • Especially if you are trying to catch a legendary, would rather not have to deal with the complications of one of our staff getting caught.
      • Yes, that is a real theoretical possibility when dealing with Bill Incidents, just ask his sister.

Some possible things for said list.

Blaine's Musings.

Sitting in a hidden laboratory is an old man is shifting through a bunch of notes, until he stumbles onto a photo. If one looked closer, one would see it is a group photo with younger versions of many well known faces in the academic World, such as Westwood the fifth, Kurt, Samuel Oak, Mr. Fuji, and even Agatha.

"To think that it has been so long since the breakup, and even longer since the war pushed us together." Blaine muses, thinking back to old times. Back when Kanto and Jhoto's greatest minds were gathered to try and come up with something to break the overall stalemate that was The War.

"Even after all these years, some of the bonds are strong, and yet others, it was inevitable something would happen." The explosive reaction Agatha had to Professor Oak's inevitable departure comes to mind. She really should have seen it coming. His interest has always been about understanding pokemon, both their species, and how human and Pokémon interact with each other, and yet....

*Blaine sighs* Agatha was always close-minded about Pokémon. A boon when the whole world was focused on war, but after. Pokémon are too versatile, the demands and interests too varied. Never mind what certain members considered acceptable, of which Oak has always disagreed with the angle of research during the war.

Dr. Fuji, a dear friend of mine, was studying some mysterious stones. Something which apparently was some way of enhancing Pokémon, and yet very different than how Dr. Namba approached the topic. Before the accident which caused him to pursue a new topic, and yet. Even as I enjoyed working alongside him on the Mewtwo Project, even aiding in his little side project. He was never truly comfortable, even during the war. It was likely part of why he was eager when those mysterious stones came into the workplace, offering a more comfortable subject to work on. And a rather fascinating one at that, given the times I collaborated with him on them. Something which seems related o the Friendship Evolution phenomena which created an academic firestorm within Team Rocket. Bah, it's a bad scientist that refutes the facts just because it puts older knowledge into question!

Westwood 5 was driven by a desire to live up to his family name. A programmer trying to get out of the shadow of his family, and thus an early member of the pokedex project. Kurt, was focused on refining his family art. Professor Hale had always been more interested in learning more about pokemon. Professor Elm was more interested in Pokemon breeding, and was a student of Professor Oak's.

Speaking of. Professor Oak's Pokedex Project was probably the best thing that came out of the whole project. Not necessarily for the research itself, which is still impressive, but for the ease of access it offers, and redefining how science is pushed forward as a truly collaborative effort. Reaching out to the likes of Professor Rowan, Cedric Juniper, and others to push our understanding to greater heights, in spite of the wars in recent memory. Which, above Samuel's own remarkable mind, is truly the most remarkable part of his work. His ability to bring people together for a common goal in spite of lingering regional tensions and with the wars still in living memory, becoming just as, if not more important in ending the tensions of the after war as the Rangers themselves..

A/N: Decided to do a little something here. How accurate or wildly inaccurate it may be is, well, very much up to the authorQM. Though, for all that many of the scientists are eccentric, so is Prof Oak(Why does he get attacked in those so often? :V ).

Oak's POV

"Bill, tell me—any news?" you asked, opening the cabinet to prepare a fresh pot of coffee, the scent already starting to fill the room.

Bill glanced over the data on his screen, adjusting his glasses before speaking. "Nothing major, sir. Most, if not all, of our Routes are quiet—though I mean that mostly in the sense that trouble isn't coming towards us."

You leaned against the counter, listening intently. "Anything we should be concerned about?"

Bill tapped a few keys, bringing up a map. "Nothing beyond the usual Pokémon migrations, though they've been…odd lately. We should study it when we can. Could be an indicator of something bigger down the line."

You nodded, filing that away for later. "What about the parts for the projects? How are we looking on resources?"

"We've got plenty, if nothing else, sir," Bill replied, his tone neutral but efficient as always. "Is that all?"

You poured the first cup of coffee and took a slow sip, feeling the warmth spread through you. "Actually, no. Find the ranch hands and have them fix that damn wall when you get a chance, will you? I don't want to deal with another Tauros incident."

Bill smiled slightly, clearly amused by the memory of the last time the herd had broken through. "Already on it, sir."

The coffee maker dinged, signaling the start of what was sure to be another long day. As you handed Bill his own cup, you couldn't help but feel a small sense of peace amid the chaos. It wasn't much, but for now, it was enough.

It was time to get to work.

No, you do not, but by choosing an RNd you lose an action as your working on the project until completion.

And RnD are permanent bonuses by the way.

That's fair. I would love to put Oak on this with Bill, but he's too damn important, and we need him... well everywhere, but especially on Diplomacy. Thank PokeJesus we have +20 to all rolls.

We should check what kinda pokemon we have to work with. No telling what's coming our way. Gotta be ready.

agreed. I switched to Checking the Pokemon.

We might actually want to go directly for the devon gear. Why? Our income is a flat zero right now, with our our money streams only just enough to cover expenses with a big goal being the reactivation of our lab. Especially as research projects need funding and, it's gonna be reletively costly keeping our research up, given if we do both current projects right now, we'd have only 100 or so left in the bank.

I can't help but think what it would be like for the kids that find themselves working on Prof Oak's Ranch. I mean, besides the whole Oak being a champion and a researcher, alongside the variety of pokemon there from both research and being a stable for Trainer pokemon. There is also the shenanagins we see from the anime quiz thing.

Between pokemon shenanigans, Oak being Oak, and other factors, it'll probably be interesting.

Canon Omake: A New Ranch Hand's Perspective by themarineguy
Professor Oak's Ranch
A New Ranch Hand's Perspective

Pallet Town has always been a somewhat paradoxical existence, a sleepy town with very limited activity, and yet a long and storied history of elite trainers whom called the town home. A fact that was born from it's very tenuous existence throughout most of it's history, between it's vulnerable position, small size especially given it's immediate neighbor, and the fact that they are largely separated from the rest of Kanto in the same manner as Viridian city, said neighbor. But in this age, everyone knows of the town as the home of Professor Oak and his Lab. Of which is now for the first time, looking to hire Ranch Hands so the retired champion could put more focus to protecting the town.

"Hurry up or we are going to be late!" Luna Starlight calls from outside the Starcrest household.

"I'm coming!" Jade Starcrest responds, and shortly after running out of the house, a little disheveled and holding a piece of toast as well as a hairbrush after having overslept.

"Remember what we taught you!"Ms. Starcrest calls after Jade Starcrest as he joins Luna Starlight in heading to the ranch.

"To think that just a few months ago the biggest worry was stuff like paying the bills, and now the world has gone mad, the League collapsed, the Routes are possibly as dangrous as the wilds themselves are, and a horde of pidgey are ruling route 1." Jade Grouses.

"And now Professor Oak is hiring us to help out around his Ranch! An opportunity to get back in shape after we were forced to stop our journey!" Luna states excitably.

"Hadn't seen you this excited since even before you got the job at the local Radio Station" Jade states, reminiscing a bit.

"And you've gotten boring since you got work at the Pallet House. Really, you still got your team right?" Luna retorts.

"We both know we only managed to get the fourth badge before we got robbed. We are lucky that we could afford to feed our teams, let alone not lose them back then. Besides, the tourists always like a good battle." Jade replies, earning a scoff from Luna.

"At this point, you might as well try and become a Coordinator. I've watched those battles, it's more you showing off than anything else. I bet nearly all of them didn't have any more than 2 badges." Luna retorts.

The two continue to talk as they walk to the ranch, meeting up with other trainers whom had been given the same opportunity to, to once again work with Pokémon in a way they haven't since they ended their journey, with even one or two being from the Pallet House Inn. As the small, but eclectic bunch of trainers move towards Oak Ranch, an explosion is heard. As the trainers tense up, with the locals being relatively calmer, a nidoran whom was running to Oak laboratory talked.

"No need to worry unless there are multiple explosions. Professor Oak still has not given up on trying to get Electrode to let Oak study it." The Nidoran states and quickly rushes to the lab after hearing Professor Oak.

"Bill! You better not have been fooling round with your Teleporters again! I really rather we not need to discuss this with the new farmhands on their first day!" Professor Oak is heard yelling from the distance as the trainers pause in shock.

"I thought that Oak and Delia were talking nonsense when I overheard them talk about some of those stories about Bill." Jade states, still coming to terms with the fact that he is now pretty sure said stories were not made made up anymore.

"So, any more questions?" Oak tells the gathered farmhands, after having laid down the basics.

"So, what about that talking nidoran we met while walking here?" One of the farmhands asked.

Professor Oak groans in annoyance as he facepalms." Why Bill. I told you they were coming today." He mutters before responding in a much louder voice. "Well, that is a bit of a long story, something that Jade Starcrest here already knows parts of, and the owner of the Pallet House is also very aware of."

A/N: Pallet Town is kinda generally known for having very little going on in it period...
Except in pokemon adventures where it is famous for the many trainers that called the town home, with basically every Trainer who has ever won the Indigo Plateau Pokémon League tournament having come from Pallet Town. Which, I guess does indeed play into the whole setting here, what with the fact that quite frankly, Pallet Town is the least defended of the towns, lacking size, geography, gyms/warlords, and being geographically isolated from everyone outside of water routes except for Viridian. So, well, it kinda makes sense if said place has a long and strong history of pokemon battling. With the main problem currently is well, few Pallet trainers being home when the world went mad, leaving the trainer retirees, veterans, and children in a not very ideal place.
Also funny note. going by bulbapedia, Pocket Monsters: The Animation stated that the town was renamed to Pallet town after Professor Oak's grandpa was placed 931th place in the 10,000 best Trainers from the Pokémon Pals magazine list, and that ash and gary wished to beat that in order to get the town renamed after them.(Yo, what about Samuel Oak, that guy became CHAMPION! Where does that feat get someone on said list?:V :rofl:)

One thing that I noticed browsing bulbapedia, is that it is entirely possible that the owner of the Pallet House, and mother of Red/Ash was involved with the Rockets and dated Giovanni himself in the Musical, and had also learned alongside Spencer Hale under Prof Oak. :V

Also, I am admittedly curious if this omake might be partially accurate or not, given it's basically built on theorycrafting/logic/guesswork and delves into bulbapedia.

I will, but I am at work

Any questions on kanto?
...Any estimate to when Jame's parents are gonna pull their whole Holy Matrimony EP shenanigans? Cause I get the feeling whenever that is set in motion, it's gonna get a lot more crazy given the sheer wealth/connections said family has...

Edit: ....There is something that I REALLY didn't know till looking up bulbapedia Kanto page...
Indigo Academy, the location that the newest anime started in, just so happens to be in Kanto, and not only that, is near victory road. 😅

An advanced boarding school, which may or may not have a student running around with a legendary disguised as a necklace, happens to be nearby. 😅
