007 (Boom Blamp)

Boom Blamp
The Blamps are quickly dying off and those who haven't specialized are finding themselves more and more pressured. Some come to the strangest solution to the problem. EXPLOSIONS. The Boom Blamps spend their whole lives using excess energy to process and separate hydrogen from the atmosphere this allows them to detonate when attacked. This is always fatal to the Boom Blamp and can kill or injure everything nearby. The Boom Blamps herald the extinction of the original Blamps and the species is learned to be avoided however desperate hunters and accidental collisions can still cause explosions from the hair-triggered Boom Blamps.

The extinction of the Blamp is a minor note to the Slina and Harpoon Slina the Slina being fast enough and patient enough to capture multiple Cluster Blamps and the Harpoon Slina being able to predate on most of the Blamps. The Drekin are forced to rely on them as prey as they struggle hunting the varieties of Blamp present in the facilities. The Boom Blamps explosions are devastating to all species in the facilities except for the cloistered Climbing Blamps. However the Cluster Blamps are hit hardest, their small size means they have little protection against the detonation and an explosion can come from part of the swarm tapping into a nearby Boom Blamp devastating the local Cluster Blamp population. If nothing changes they will go extinct in 4 turns.

Would it be possible for you to have the new monster's name as part of the threadmark title? In Monstrous Biosphere doing that really helps a lot when it comes to referring back to a particular monster since you can use the built in threadmark title search function.

[] Some Drekin have been exposed to odd elements from lower levels of the tower they can now spit a chilling foam that Saps the heat from prey till they pass out, repeated exposure to the foam will cause frost bite.

Wow, the Boom Blamps sure made a entrance huh? Everyone getting a pressure point from them. Hopefully the facility can endure all these explosions.

I was hopeful things wouldn't go as I'd expected / predicted, but alas. VINDICATION.

[X] A new form of Cluster Blamp emerges with the ability to reflexively harden it's outer skin when struck. This doesn't prevent their demise if a blow connects perfectly, but does deflect glancing blows and wears down hard weapons like harpoons or teeth.

The Cluster Blamps would act like ablative armor for the Megablamps. The rest of the cluster would be safe though, only a few would be sacrificed. This would probably solve the Boom Blamp pressure for these two.

Also, eventually these two could become more symbiotic. That will be fun.

008 (Webweaver Drekin)

Webweaver Drekin
The Drekin struggling to catch the Cluster Blamps, the Webweaver Drekin's limbs have shortened and its body is larger to host the web organ that makes the silk it uses to weave its nets. Several small limbs pull the silk from the organ, weaving it into nets and thicker ropes. It uses the nets to catch several Cluster Blamps at a time to feed itself. The ropes are used to stray away from safe places on the facility's roof to hunt Climbing Blamps. It struggles to produce the silk early in life so the Webweavers do not abandon their children for far longer than Drekin.

The clever predator is able to lower the Cluster Blamp and Climbing Blamp populations though they quickly learn to avoid the Explosive Blamps. Some Webweavers migrate between facilities by webbing themselves to the Vent Blamps though this disrupts the creature's propulsion and can cause both to drift too far from a landing. The Webweaver Drekin's smaller limbs means that even when it can catch Selina and Harpoon Selina in its webs it often fails to kill it.
