Solar Auxilia Officer Quest. A 30k Early Great Crusade quest.

So I will be making a variety of plan using the options we have available and will be detailing them as Triton focused, Proteus Focused, or general use. This way people can vote for the one they think fits best for the planet they want to go to.

I won't be making any for the former pleasure world as that is a hard nope from me, the 9th legion can have their private beach day imo tyvm!

Logic will be its own section underneath.

So, the overall logic of these is going to be simple but effective hopefully.

General plan logic

The Maginot is simple: Like the fortifications that made the Germans take one look and go "NOPE!" This is about getting an addition to our forces that will allow our already present troops to be able to worry only about who they are shooting and how badly they want to puncture them. Between the ogres and the storm axes, we got a solid front line that can hold off anything to prevent our ranged units from getting into melee too soon and be able to tank hits for them too.

2nd Verse is equally simple: Doubling down on what we started with so we can bury the enemy in massed fire and twice the artillery. It is simple, effective, and will give us enough guns to point in one direction that anything charging us will need numbers, armor, or weapons that can shred us faster than we can them.

Mice and Men is a variation of the above: This is us getting the ogres for the melee front while also getting a couple more lasgun units so we can ensure we have a lot of balanced covering fire to hold the flanks if need be. This is for those that want the punch of the ogres but feel we need more firepower.

Had a plan here called "Shock and Awe" but a quick look at the tally showed it was the same as 'heavy fire support' and so it got deleted.

These plans overall are designed to be useful either on Triton or Proteus as both will have need of firepower and staying power.

Triton specific plan logic

Cleansing flame has one goal: Fuck the chaff and taskmasters. If there is one thing I learned facing the gene patriarchs of the mutants, is that we cannot rely on our ranged weaponry alone. 2nd section due to bad rolls got savaged by the task masters the moment they hit melee, and things are only going to get worse as the mutant swarms are given ranged weapons. This plan allows us to keep the swarms back so our forces can hit the mutant heavy hitters where it hurts.

Shock Grenade has a similar goal: The main difference with this one is switching the flamers with more arty to double down on being able to blast the enemy with arty or phosphex as needed, both of which will be useful in the battlefields of triton. With the increased swarms odds are good we'll be using phosphex regularly and it'll be good to have one on phosphex and one on frag to ensure no swarms or heavy hitters have a break, with the volkite clearing the chaff especially well.

Falcon Pawnch! is very simple: Purge them with fire. The advantage of Falcon Pawnch is that it synergies the advantages of the Ogryns and the flamers. If/when a general melee is started, the ogryns tank the damage and the enemy swarms...and then the flamers burn them all. It more or less creates a tarpit...but made of fire. This also has the advantage of creating a Warhammer total war cheese strat which is to put a very tough lord in a swarm of enemies...and then hit the mass with artillery.

Clean sweep is equally focused: It is all about putting as much firepower on the enemy as possible. This plan is pure anti chaff so that our now four lasgun sections and the arty can handle the heavy hitters which we saw they could already (when the dice allowed of course). It forces our lasguns to hold the line as melee but considering the swarms will be charging through volkite AND the machineguns...I don't think many of them will be getting through.

Proteus specific plan logic:

Kaybar toss is simple and direct: The ogryns are there to tank the spooder suited heavies and any light melee humanoid shells while the extra arty is there to crack the shells with more frag or use the phosphex as needed. There's going to be a more variety similar to our units so I feel having the ability to take a punch and delivery one is veddy important.

Crab Cracker is a similar plan: This one switches the ogryns for a storm axe section and lasguns for the added firepower and potential for being able to hit their heavies but this is mainly for those that don't want to put everything on the ogres.

gah, ended up repeating 'shock and awe' by accident. removed.

Big and tall recognizes we're likely to see more than we know right now: This switches the arty from crab cracker to the machine guns which puts the focus of the heavies on the arty we have as well as the storm axes, while our lasguns and the machine guns handle the lights.

Broiled Lobster goes hard on making sure the enemy bleeds: We put flamer and volkites with an extra lasgun to make sure that anyone that tries to get close is roasted alive and shocked into oblivion. Our arty will be taking the lion's share of the heavies I imagine but between the arty and our flamers, they should be hit coming or going.

[X] Plan: Wall of Bullets & Meat

[X]Plan: Ogryn shields for P, and T

Going to add an honorable vote for these as I like the logic of having the ogres with the volkites or the machine guns, similar logic to plans i'd have made if they hadn't gotten there first.

Could you at least have checked to make sure you weren't possibly messing with the tally by dropping the same plan as someone else with a different name before you threw all of those at us? And at least one of those plans is illegal, since we're not allowed to grab more than two lasrifle sections.

I like BRRRRRTTTTT and I like Ogryn Bois, what can I say?

And Triton seems like a great chance for us to volunteer to do extra to help our Revenant Lads.

After all, the men are surely happy to charge into the bowels of a Hell Moon for the sake of our promotions glory of Le Emperor!

Your carping has been noted and will be given all due consideration.
I'm sorry, but when it looks like you aren't giving your plans enough of a once over to catch that you made the same one twice under different names in your own post, it makes one wonder what else you might have skimmed over in the planning process.

(This is, by the way, also one of the plans that was already posted.)

Apothecary running at full capacity.
Induction vat throughput.l: 89% failure rate
Intake pens capacity: 121% safe capacity. Cull in progress.
Additional prison barges requested.

Expected casualty rate of the first year of Neptunian Compliance.
1253 Marines.
Expected recruitment for the first year of Neptunian Compliance.
11 Dreadnoughts.
1373 Marines.
189278 failed implantations.
-Chapter intake report: Neptunian Orbital Twelve.

Also, Heh, gotta love the Revenant legion.

Our boys see 'we wiped out the population of a small city to get 1300 Marines' and are just chill with it.

They just know how to make the inner monster go doki-doki.

We are working with the 9th legion on all three

In particular I mean. While sallying out from the prepared fortresses in all of them would probably get us commendations, for Triton especially it'll be both easy enough while also giving the Astartes breathing room while dealing with the hordes of squishies.

Better to deal with BRRRTTTing a bunch of mutants rather than dealing with the actually dangerous Cyber-stuff of the other options in my mind. Looks better on a report to say 'we took out thousands of enemies' rather than 'we took out one, but it was super hard trust us' as well.

Eh, I can see the logic, but the cymoebeans are going to be equally numerous and their planet is more offensive to behold, it must be purged with fiyah!

[X] Triton, the den
I won't be voting for equipment makeup right now, because the current leading option (World Burners) is best for Proteus what with the more versatile layout. While I'd be happy for Wall Of Bullets And Meat, I don't think it's quite right for what's a far more tactical threat. Meanwhile, I want Triton because I want to follow up on that whole narrative thread and to really lean into a war of sheer numbers.

Khorban grumbles, "Be prepared for more of them. We're dealing with type-4 Mutant Techno-Warlords." There was no attempt to comfort Jeanne or offer reassurance; just blunt realism.

I love that they just have a categorization system for this shit. None of this stuff is novel, just on the upper end of what they dealt with back home.

Less Dead Space, more Nurglish basically. I'm personally still angling for Triton, to finish what we started. I imagine some of our soldiers hold a grudge against the mutants.
No, not Nurgle. The Cymoeba are an all natural threat without a hint of chaos involvement.

Welcome to the Great Crusade.

Gotta love it when horrible threats become boring categorized threats.

You just know the Revenant Legion gets a big kick out of it whenever other marines pretend to be noble defenders, while they are eating someone's brains.

I can see a conversation amongst them going something like this.

Khorban: "So then I went to work getting intel and-"

Rando 9th Legion: "With those fussy Francs right there?"

Khorban: "Yes, wasn't going to waste time. We learned of the atmosphere station and I informed them so that they knew to follow."

R9l: "And what did the Franc leader do?"

Khorban: "Inform me I'd wasted some brain, gave me a cloth to catch it all and then ordered his men to follow after I ate it."

R9l: "Was he absolutely disgusted?"

Khorban: "Extremely, which made it even more hilarious."

Section TitleAverage hits-per-roundMax hits-per-round
Lasrifle Section0.5 hits1 hit
Veteran Lasrifle Section1 hit2 hits
Flamer Section~1 hit3 hits
Rapier Support Section0.66 hits1 hit
Volkite Support Section1.32 hits2 hits (assuming unit available to overflow)
Rotor-Cannon Section1.32 hits2 hits (4 if shooting Chaff)

In case anyone finds it useful I drew up a few averages for the units that can shoot. Obviously not the whole story but should help more then just vibes.
