Solar Auxilia Officer Quest. A 30k Early Great Crusade quest.

On the other hand, who today remembers the Cavalry Club as anything but a collective hindrance to Percy Hobart? The best stories are those forged in adversity, and some of the most famous soldiers of the past century were those humble in bearing, regardless of their origins.
And yet, people still died because of them, the Desert rats, the men trained by hobart, were given little supplies and less support, allowing the 'desert fox' to run around them until Churchil forced the cavalry club to get their heads out of their asses.

It took repeated smackdowns by Churchil to get the sabotage to stop.

We cannot afford to wait for history to 'prove us right' against the other nobles. We will be fighting horrors of Sol and worse in the Great Crusade. Having to fight our own nominal allies and fellow officers is an unneeded battle.

Taking handicaps for the sake of roleplay earns one the good graces of the GM. 😇

I'd like to point out that having to earn the men's respect in the great crusade is equally a handicap as it'll mean having to get down and dirty against said horrors of the old world and worse. We won't be getting off lightly and I am concerned about the above being taken as a statement that the Groomed for Command option is WoG the 'easier' option.

Oooh, ngl, this is now starting to seem like the Slayer Shrine from fanstasy...only for French.
this is a reference to the flame of the unknown soldier under the Arch de Triomphe. It should originally be in pairs but looks like it was transported during all the war and all the nukes being thrown at Paris to verdun which was a fortress city for safekeeping.

At the base of the Arch de Triomphe stands a torch. Every evening at 6:30 P.M. it is rekindled, and veterans lay wreaths decorated with red, white and

I'm reminded of how a common, semi-fanon interpretation of Commissars is that the ones that manage to survive a long time tend to actually be the sort that have the respect of the regiments they're attached to, while the ones that either avoid personal harm or kill soldiers without good reason or absolute necessity get "accidentally" struck by a "stray" laser bolt very quickly.

Yuuup, we might be a 'fop' but to our troops, we shall be 'their fop'.

Well, not so much fanon b/c I believe that was pointed out in one of the first Ciaphas Cain books where the HERO OF THE IMPERIUM himself noted that the stereotypical asshole Commissar had a tendency to get fragged.

Best Salamander Impression : MAYTO LIVES!!! *stomp stomp*

[X]Plan Terra's Shield

I've already had a good taste of French republicanism from The Corsican Ogre, so a character scrabbling for influence and nobility instead of just idealism appeals to me.

The most potent weapons fielded by Franc during the war were its large nuclear and chemical arsenal, which it used with brutal efficiency against the invaders. Although it is not discussed in polite company, the Franc army was able to kill a number of the Adeptus Custodes and their accompanying Thunder Warrior Legion and mortal soldiery by ambushing the Custodes with shoulder-mounted atomic rockets, hitting the Thunder Warriors with Phosphex shells, and deploying nerve gas against the mortal troops, followed by a bayonet charge from grenadiers in rad suits.

You know, this kind of drives home why where where such a pain to conquer. we where not like so many others just spamming out as many atrocities as we could, we where tailoring the horrors to the target, each crime against decency and mankind itself was tailored for maxim impact and minimum cost. I think by the standards of terra we where a very rare mix of extremely well armed and comparatively sane.
