Edit: Per Karnax we're already getting that passively so I'll switch to Bonding with Erika to get another Bond 2 locked in.

Consider: Erika is the Emma expy. And Emma, with her magic talking black cat and actual witchcraft, is a magical girl.
Carbink, thanks to its relation to Diancie, AKA Diamond Madoka, is Magical Girl Adjacent. So that's clearly the theme at play. So we need a magical cat. And what more notable cat lives in Paldea than Sprigatito? Which will evolve into a more humanoid magician cat eventually. Just like Emma's cat Celine eventually starts using a bipedal form.
