i'm in the past

time travel isn't easy nor fast

sorry

My only critique of the plan is whether we want to put the Evas 2 and 2 rather than 3 and 1 on the off-chance Zeruel tries to just ignore them and blow its way straight through (which it probably can with a DC 40 AT Field), but concentrating power while the Evas are all we have in the field is probably the best bet.

EDIT: Swapped Shinji and Asuka around.

I am also wondering if it's a good idea to not forward-deploy Asuka. On the one hand, it's not a bad tactical decision to team up Shinji and Touji, and I definitely see the utility of having the former up top to tank. On the other hand, Asuka's an impatient primadonna who's already on a kick of externalized self-doubt which has a potential to spiral into bad sync rates. We should probably either deploy her forward instead of Shinji, or at least give her specific orders so she's not just stewing while the boys get dismembered.

Right had forgotten about that.

Either way Zeruel is not really something we can really plan too much about unless we have our full loadout, like we already know that making the pilots too strained mentally leads to a bad end.

So we need to plan around Asuka ego and Rei self-sacrificing otherwise we get those 2 maimed or killed, especially since we couldn't do nothing about the shadow ball so Shinji is probably still not on the best headspace.

Should we move Asuka to the frontlines tho? the only thing she really has is a ranged loadout that won't really do much againts that monster of an AT field.

At least Touji and Shinji do have some more heavy melee options.

And I worry that her ego gets the best of her and gets oneshotted by Zeruel by understimating it.

Either way cannot really think of a better strategy, doesn't this damn heat is not making things any better (35 celcius the entire week fucking sucks).

what no salvaging IBO stuff for research, i was kinda expecting to get something from all the intact Ahab Drive floating around

those thing are flat out invincible to conventional destruction and are basically better M Reactor since they run forever with out refuel

any that didn't get melt by MAP attack or Super Robot should still be perfectly viable for reuse

edit:

Ahab Reactors also aren't something that's immediately important strategically. They're basically Minovsky Reactors with some extra gravity control that's interesting, but not something that can't be substituted with our known technology.

The interesting salvage would have been Dáinsleif, which let's be real we're not going to use unless it's a dramatic reveal at a later desperate time, or Nano-laminate, which is just an upgraded version of the already-existing Anti-Beam Coating technology.

EVA Loadouts

EVA-00: Palette Rifle (standard ammunition), Shotgun (loaded with AP canister shot)
EVA-01: Gatling Cannon, Progressive Katana
EVA-02: HE Launcher, Heavy Auto Rifle (Loaded with HE Rounds)
EVA-03: Warhammer with single-use detonating cap, Heavy Shotgun (Loaded with HE Slug rounds)

Right had forgotten about that.

If we divide the EVAs we can only have two on the Surface and two below so we should decide how we want to divide our weapon load outs. We have two EVA's with long range weapons with a shotgun as ones back up and what ever the HE Launcher is as the other's back up. Then we have two units with a Sword and Hammer as their main weapons with a Shotgun and Gatling Cannon as their other weapon. Having the EVAs with the long range weapons up top might not be to bad considering the Angels target is not even the EVAs themselves so they can hit it with all the firepower they have from a relatively safe position. Through having them split with one melee heavy and one range heavy could also work so they can cover each other might be better.

Format parsing seems to be screwed for this vote. Anyway, voting closed, update to come tomorrow. EVA-00 and EVA-01 will wait in the Geofront, EVA-02 and EVA-03 will take on Zeruel up top.

i am here at last

a few complain here and there but nothing too noteworthy other then what i have already said

we kinda need some notice when new unit is available for our grunt or elite mook or when the various group that made up Vanguard upgrade their shit

cause seriously Nena, upgrade to the Arche Drei or Jadg Arche Drei already, running around in a Throne isn't very safe, or heck add in the Turbulence package for more firepower/mobility, you are in like mid 00 and still using Season 1 stuff

oh yeah, Steel Jeeg, are the mech needed for the finale of their series or it fine to just ignore them and they will get them back to running on their own

also how do we get the Huckebein ?

Hence why I jumped on making the Huckebein a full Gundam straight-up for my first Masterpiece Proposal over in SRW 0 Delta.
As for how to get the Huckebein in this quest, unless we're willing to work out the kinks on the famously unstable Black Hole Engine, we are not getting the Huckebein, plain and simple.

well there a few low level upgrade we can probably nab if wafer let us

HWS Hi Nu should give Amuro an extra dice roll like most other heavy weapon set up, not that he need it but better be safe and all

00 Raiser could get the XN Raiser or the Seven Sword/G set up, or heck both just to cramp more dice roll on there

Wing boy does have optional equipment for enhancing their Gundam if their machine start lagging behind

You are Noriko Takaya, and as you try to figure out how to grab the Angel's attention, you're contacted by NERV.

"EVA-02 and EVA-03 are now launching!" A NERV communications officer informs you.

"About damn time!" You say as you shift your Grungust into Gust Lander form.

At the same time, all of the remaining static defenses as well as the Virgo mobile dolls, Beast Fighters, and UFO Fighters fire on Zeruel in an effort to distract it.

Zeruel's eyes flash in retaliation, destroying the remaining missile launchers and anti-air cannons along with the Virgos before unfolding its arms again and bisecting the remaining Beast Fighters and UFO Fighters.

At that moment, the Evangelions deploy.

"Stick to the plan, jock! You distract it while I shoot it from a distance. If I see an opening, I'll try and degrade its AT Field." Asuka says to Toji.

"Got it!" Toji replies.

Zeruel vs Grungust, EVA-02, and EVA-03
Jegans and Leos bombard Zeruel, distracting it
Zeruel attacks EVA-03 with arms
vs
Mobility DC 17 = 8 Ability + 7 Mobility + 2 (Athlete)
Roll 1d10 + 14 Ability + 4 (14th Angel) - 4 (Phantom of Bardiel) - 2 (distraction)
Roll 6
6 + 14 + 4 - 4 - 2 = 18
Toji attacks with Warhammer
vs
AT Field DC 40
Roll 1d10 + 8 Ability + 1 (6 Will) + 1 (Athlete) + 1 (60% Synch Rate)
Roll 2
2 + 8 + 1 + 1 + 1 = 13
Asuka attacks with ranged assault
vs
AT Field DC 40
Roll 1d10 + 8 Ability + 2 (Prodigy) + 4 (HE Weapons and Ammunition)
Roll 6
6 + 8 + 2 + 4 = 20
Noriko attacks with Omega Cannons
vs
AT Field DC 40
Roll 1d10 + 11 Ability + 3 (8 Will) + 3 (Gutsy)
Roll 7
7 + 11 + 3 + 3 = 24

Result: EVA-03 takes 1000 damage (7000/8000 HP). Zeruel takes no damage, but its AT Field begins to show signs of strain. -1 to Zeruel's AT Field DC for the current round of combat.

Zeruel attention check

Is Zeruel focused on EVA-02?
DC 10 to not be focused on Asuka

Roll 1d10 + 2 (MS bombardment) + 2 (Omega Cannon barrage) + 1 (Phantom of Bardiel)
Roll 9
9 + 2 + 2 + 1 = 14

Zeruel's attention is split between Noriko's Grungust and the remaining mobile suits of the garrison, allowing Asuka to blindside it.

As you round a corner in the Gust Lander tank mode, you see EVA-03 charge at Zeruel, war hammer drawn and its heavy shotgun slung on its back for the moment.

Zeruel's arms unfold again and shoot out at the Evangelion. Toji curses as he tries to sidestep around the Angel's arms, but they still manage to tear a minor gash in the side his EVA's torso despite the Angel being distracted by a bombardment from the Leos and Jegans of the garrison, Toji unable to form an AT Field due to being caught off guard.

EVA-03 resumes its charge toward the Angel, but taking that hit clearly cost it too much momentum, as Toji's blow with the war hammer is easily deflected by Zeruel's AT Field.

You hear Asuka curse in German before she fires both of her weapons, the heavy auto rifle in EVA-02's right hand spitting out a stream of HE rounds, and the HE launcher on its left shoulder lobbing shells as fast as she can pull the trigger.

At the same time, you fire the Gust Lander's Omega Cannons, a salvo of shells sailing toward the Angel in an almost graceful arc.

Zeruel is momentarily engulfed by explosions.

When the smoke clears, you see that the Angel is unharmed, although before its AT Field fades away, you see it flicker slightly.

Zeruel turns, and you realize it's looking between you and the mobile suits of the garrison force. You immediately accelerate and take your Gust Lander behind a skyscraper for cover, and not a moment too soon, as Zeruel fires its beams at where you were a few seconds ago.

When you round the corner again, you see that EVA-02 has charged up to Zeruel and is attempting to degrade its AT Field.

You are Asuka Langley Soryu, and you are tired of picking up the slack of everyone else around you.

Okay, so it's Toji's first time fighting an Angel, and it looks like this one's even nastier than the ones you've faced in the past, so you'll give him a little credit for not immediately losing his EVA's arms to Zeruel's toilet paper arm cutter attack.

Still, that doesn't change the fact that you're charging at the Angel with no other melee weapons aside from your progressive knives.

Gah, why couldn't Shinji have decided to come up here? He knows how to take on an Angel, at the very least! You internally lament as you get close to Zeruel and slam one of EVA-02's fists against the Angel's AT Field.

"Come on...break, damn it!" You yell.

Asuka attempts to degrade Zeruel's AT Field
DC 17, 21, 25
Roll 1d10 + 8 Ability + 2 (7 Will) + 2 (Prodigy) + 2 (70% Synch Rate) + 1 (AT Field slightly strained)
Roll 10
10 + 8 + 2 + 2 + 2 + 1 = 25

Result: Asuka decreases Zeruel's AT Field DC by 25 for the current round of combat. Zeruel will only be able to regain half of lost AT Field DC next round. Asuka's ego is inflated due to her great success! As a result, her synch rate increases by 20%!

You see Zeruel's AT Field clash against your own, and you focus.

Come on, you damn monster, crack under the pressure! You seethe.

You see the lines of each AT Field pulse along the barriers before the lines of your AT Field start to line up with those of Zeruel's. The Angel realizes what is happening too late, as you give a victorious, feral cry.

You 'grab' onto Zeruel's AT Field with both of EVA-02's hands before tearing the ethereal barrier apart. It's nowhere near as clean like when the berserk EVA-01 did the same to Sachiel, but Zeruel's in a whole different league compared to that small fry.

You see Zeruel's AT Field start to mend itself, but something is clearly wrong, as it flickers with increased frequency, and it distorts in several different directions.

It occurs to you to try and shoot Zeruel with your weapons now that its AT Field is substantially weaker, but a sudden feeling of exhaustion hits you like a truck, and your concentration falters.

Thankfully, chatter in your ear tells you that reinforcements have arrived.

"CHANGE, SHIN GETTER 2!" Hayato Jin yells.

A white blur slams into Zeruel's AT Field, which immediately shatters on impact. You're barely able to make out the form of Shin Getter 2 before it lays into the Angel with a flurry of blows from its drill. Unfortunately, it seems that Zeruel's skin is almost as tough as its AT Field, as when Shin Getter 2 backs off, you see a whole lot of scratches on the Angel's skin and not much else. Immediately after that, Shin Getter 2 glows green, and those same scratches become cracks on Zeruel's skin.

View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mJ1d7drC6xQ

"TURBO SMASHER PUNCH!" Kouji Kabuto yells.

A pair of rocket-powered fists smash through Zeruel's AT Field and slam into the Angel. Although they glance off, more cracks and fissures form on impact in the armor that is Zeruel's skin.

What catches you by surprise is Zeruel turning toward Mazinkaiser and glaring at it in what you interpret as a mixture of rage and...fear?

View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zSUn1Nbbgns

"Flame Arrow!" A youthful, girly voice calls out.

A second later, an enormous streak of fire slams into Zeruel's AT Field, shattering it and scorching the Angel. Rather humorously, Zeruel immediately starts batting at the flames engulfing it with its folding arms.

You turn to see the source of the flame: a Super Robot with a flaming mane that seems to be floating in the air with no visible thrust.

You're about to compliment your newly arrived help when something unexpected happens.
A complication! Roll 1d8

1-4|The Council intervenes
5-8|Zeruel duplicates itself a dozen times

Roll 8

Zeruel, with what seems to be a look of desperation in its eyes (despite the fact that its 'face' doesn't seem flexible enough to emote) gleams orange.

Suddenly, a dozen pools of orange liquid form spontaneously and coalesce into solid forms.

You let out a string of profanity in German when you realize what they're turning into: other copies of Zeruel.

The comm channels come alive with a mixture of panic and surprise as the copies of Zeruel come to life. Some of them turn their attention toward the newly arrived forces from the Solar Vanguard, while others assume a defensive formation around the original Zeruel.

Zeruel makes a break for it!
Roll 5d4

Roll 4, 3, 1, 1, 1

Result: Zeruel gets away and starts to break into the Geofront.

In the midst of the ensuing chaos, you lose track of the original Zeruel.

A few minutes later, an enormous shaking tells you where it is: in the hole it made earlier, trying to break the rest of the armor plating so it can get into the Geofront.

You curse as a Zeruel copy gets in your way.

View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PeEzoedl-w0

Suddenly, a Super Robot that resembles a blue version of Getter 1 rushes in and punches the Zeruel copy so hard its face explodes.

"Neo Getter Robo, reporting for duty!" One of its pilots says stoically as the copy Angel's face mends itself, orange liquid seeping out of its wound.

Well, you appreciate the help at a time like this.

TACTICAL UPDATE

Analysis by the MAGI has revealed that the Zeruel copies are similar to the copy angels Ramiel manifested-they can't use defensive AT Fields. However, they can still use eye beam attacks. Although they're not as powerful as the real deal, they're still quite destructive.
Zeruel is breaking into the Geofront. Unless it is killed on the spot-which seems unlikely-it will enter shortly after the start of the next round.

VOTE BY PLAN

Who will go after Zeruel?

[ ] Pick TWELVE units and TWO ships from available unique units. Both EVAs on the surface will automatically pursue Zeruel, so they do not count against the limit.

It will take time to go after Zeruel. What should be Shinji and Rei's strategy for when Zeruel breaks into the Geofront?

[ ] Hang back
-Stay at range and shoot at Zeruel in concert with the Geofront's static defenses.

[ ] Up close and personal
-Have Shinji attack Zeruel with his progressive katana while Rei provides fire support.

[ ] Such Devastation!
-Have Rei use the N2 mine on Zeruel. She'll have to get close, but with Zeruel's AT Field so severely weakened, she should be able to degrade it enough to get the bomb through. Hopefully she'll be able to get EVA-00's AT Field up in time to block the worst of the ensuing blast...
-Will cause widespread damage to the Geofront.

[ ] Write-in

A/N: I honestly wasn't expecting things to go so well on the front of degrading the AT Field. Well, the dice take, but also give. Anyway, please vote, discuss, and critique!

Jesus christ that Crit roll from Asuka did wonders.

So current AT Field for this round ended at 14, we managed to decrease the DC by 26 this round and since Zeruel will only regain half thanks to what Asuka did he only recovers 13 instead of the 26 for the DC check.

Well that would had been the case if it wasn't for the sudden attacks from Hayato, Kouji and Hikaru reducing the DC by 10 for coming round.

So DC check will be at 17 starting coming round.

Either way, considering that our pilots are starting at will 7, that just means we need 1 more will to activate certain bonuses.

Also this is the moment where Lelouch comes in a clutch, as man of miracles should be able to be used to our adventage this turn, so we should totally use that.

Either way, for pursue, Getter, Mazin brothers, Magic knights and Psychoframe gundams are a must as they are the only other ones that can reduce the AT field check.

We also should probably sent one of the grungust to get the +2 of the Superior Metal Z Circuits.

1- Kouji
2- Tetsuya
3- Ryoma
4- Lelouch
5- Amuro
6- Banagher
7- Mira
8- Hikaru
9- Fuu
10- Umi
11- Noriko/Kenji
12-

We have one spot left if no one gives me a better loadout, but I am tempted to put in the OG Dancouga team for the Dancuken.

As for ships, the Nadesico is a no brainer, so open for suggestions on the second ship.

Finally, our strat for Shinji and Rei.

So Zeruel has a +18 perma to his rolls due to ability plus his unique ability the 14th angel

Now Shinji and Rei only have a +8 to their rolls due to not having any other bonus other than will based ones and synch rate ones.

Now thiss would make me think better if it wasn't for one detail.

We haven't used spirit commands yet on this combat and funnily enough Shinji has Flash as part of his pool.

Making it that sending him onto melee a totally valid choice without much repercutions.

On the other hand Rei has Rouse, which in the games raised morale to all adjacent pilots, still dunno how that could work here but either way.

We can either sent Shinji to distract Zeruel or do a writte in, sending Rei with the N2 mine just reeks of canon Eva path.

couldn't we just have Rei and Shinji degrade the AT field further and then some other Super Robot jump in for a finisher
