i like that we have our own mook grunt, make it seem like we are an actually task force with full backing instead of a rag tag team of random people from all over

need to upgrade them tho, quite sure the GNX group is literally the strongest grunt among them

edit

god speed Neil you crazy bitch, also what he did is kinda a reverse of his brother, going full overclock to slowly jam a beam saber into the cockpit vs a quick maneuver to jam a pistol into the Gadessa cockpit

very thematic for the sniper twin vs the gunslinger twin

You realize the Destroy is absolutely massive compared to most Gundams (it's basically Seed Destiny's take on the Psycho Gundam) and uses a completely different power system than UC machines?
Touche.

I can imagine Four Murasame lampshade the similarity between those two massive Gundams.

Say, will the MS scientists and engineers take interest on Maxingal Alloy should our heroes encounter Armored Beast Fighters for the Liberation of Boazan or the Gundams and Super Robots can break through the special metal made by Belgan Do by hitting them hard enough?

It took Ultra Electromagnetic Ball to weaken Maxingal Alloy to do so.

Given this is an SRW setting? The second option.

Also, Boazanians don't really...get the appeal of miniaturization. For them, they want to make their stuff as flashy and big as possible. Mobile suits are kind of too small to appeal to those tastes.

The amount of salt from Belgan when he sees his prized special metal being destroyed by the heroes with ease would be high.

I can see Boazanians underestimate the mobile suits at first glance, and then immediately regret it after their forces experience the Battle of Loum: Boazan Edition.

April UE 0084
Aboard the Macross Quarter

You knock on the door to the lounge where Kazuya is resting, and he perks up at the sound.

"Oh, hey, Mira." Kazuya gives you a friendly wave. "Anything you wanted in particular?"

"Just wanted to talk. Heard that Richter told you about what Erika's planning." You say as you take a seat opposite Kazuya.

"Yeah. Honestly, I didn't think Erika would have been able to come up with something like this. She must really hate Olban..." Kazuya muses.

"What is her plan, anyway?" You ask with a raised eyebrow.

"Well, she's going to go through with the wedding, and when the opportunity presents itself, she's going to assassinate Olban at the altar." Kazuya says.

You give an impressed whistle.

"She have any plans for what comes after?" You ask.

"Richter has no idea. That's part of why he came to me." Kazuya shrugs.

"Well, you definitely don't want to miss that, right? At the least, you probably want to make sure Erika gets out in one piece." You say.

Kazuya chuckles.

"I suppose you're right about that." He says.

"Hey, you need any help getting aboard that ship where the wedding is going to take place, you can count on us to help you." You say.

"Thanks, Mira." Kazuya says gratefully.

At that moment, an alarm sounds, and the voice of Mina Roshan echoes through the Quarter's PA system.

"Alert, the Angel has appeared in Tokyo ahead of the projected arrival time. All crew, prepare for combat." She announces.

You and Kazuya share a look before heading down to the hangar.

Tokyo

You are Noriko Takaya, and you wait in the cockpit of your Grungust as the 14th Angel, designated by the MAGI as Zeruel, approaches.

Not for the first time do you mentally lament that Gunbuster's repairs aren't complete yet. The Grungust is a fine machine, certainly, but having Gunbuster would make things so much easier.

You shake your head to clear your thoughts as you look over your allies.

Aside from the conventional garrison forces, the recently turned Prince Heinel has sent some of his old Beast Fighters to reinforce the defense. You doubt they'll stand a chance against the Angel, but at the least they should buy some time until the main force from the Solar Vanguard arrives and the EVAs deploy.

"Here it comes!" A sensor technician from the garrison forces shouts.

"Fire, FIRE!" An officer yells.

View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4u6V6UisBz8

The Bulldogs, Linear Howitzers, and all of the emplaced missile launchers and anti-air cannons fire, an enormous volley of missiles and shells screaming toward Zeruel.

The Angel doesn't even bother raising its AT field as the ordnance detonates uselessly against its skin, before you see its eyes flash.

In an instant, several of the emplaced missile launchers and anti-air cannons go up in a cross-shaped explosion.

You curse before shifting your Grungust into Wing Gust Mode and charging at the Angel, the UFO Fighters forming up around you while the Beast Fighters charge at it from other angles.

Zeruel's eyes flash a few more times, and you see more of the cross-shaped explosions rock the area where you know is above the Geofront.

"That just took out 18 of the 22 armor plates!" Someone from NERV reports in alarm.

That's not good. You need to engage the Angel NOW. At the very least, you and the Beast Fighters should be able to distract it.

Noriko and co vs Zeruel

vs

Roll 1d10 + 7 Ability + 4 (massed volley)

UFO Fighters attack with Boazanian beam weapons
vs

Noriko attacks with missiles + Omega Beam
vs
AT Field DC 40
Roll 1d10 + 11 Ability + 2 (Superior Metal Z Circuits)
Roll 5
5 + 11 + 2 = 18
Zeruel attacks Beast Fighters with Eye Beams

7 + 14 + 4 = 25
Double Action! Zeruel attacks the UFO Fighters with Eye Beams
vs
Mobility DC 10 = 5 Ability + 5 Mobility
Roll 1d10 + 14 Ability + 4 (The 14th Angel)
Roll 6
6 + 14 + 4 = 24

Result: No damage dealt to Zeruel. 1 Kanigan and 1 Karakaras destroyed, along with 8 UFO Fighters.

The Beast Fighters get into range first, the Kanigans firing some kind of bubble cannon from their heads, while the Karakaras shoot ragged beams of purple energy from their mouths.

All of the Boazanian energy weapons are deflected off of the Angel's AT Field.

At the same time, the UFO Fighters accelerate and make an attack run on Zeruel, their Boazanian beam rounds also deflecting ineffectually off of Zeruel's AT Field.

You finally get in range, and open up with a volley of missiles and a burst of fire from your Grungust's Omega Beams.

Those, too, are deflected by the AT Field.

After a second of consideration, Zeruel turns toward the Beast Fighters and fires its eye beams, atomizing a Kanigan and a Karakaras. It then turns toward the UFO Fighters and fires again, nailing one of them in the center of mass and causing a massive explosion. As the formation flies out of the resulting smoke, you only count 7 UFO Fighters out of the original 15.

Then, Zeruel turns toward your Grungust, and your blood runs cold.

Zeruel vs Noriko
Zeruel attacks Noriko's Grungust
vs
Mobility DC 22 = 11 Ability + 4 Mobility + 3 (Wing Gust Form) + 1 (6 Will) + 1 (Gutsy) + 2 (Transformation maneuvers)
Roll 1d10 + 14 Ability + 4 (The 14th Angel)

vs
AT Field DC 40
Roll 1d10 + 11 Ability + 2 (7 Will) + 2 (Gutsy)
Roll 5
5 + 11 + 2 + 2 = 20

Result: Noriko's Grungust takes 3500 damage (5000/8500 HP). Zeruel is momentarily distracted.

What you don't expect is for Zeruel to start floating toward your Grungust, considering the range and destructive power of its eye beams.

You realize why it's doing so a second later, as what you assumed were stumps on the ends of its arms unfold and extend toward you rapidly.

You immediately bank hard to the left in an attempt to evade while also transforming out of Wing Gust mode back into the base form of the Grungust to shift your mass, only for Zeruel's right arm to suddenly jerk to the left and tear a gash in the side of your Grungust.

You hiss before glaring at the Angel.

View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7jNzOD3UwDY

"COME ON!" You bellow. "BOOST KNUCKLE!"

You fire off your Grungust's right fist at Zeruel, who doesn't even bother dodging.

Your Boost Knuckle clashes against the Angel's AT field for a few seconds before it returns to you.

Zeruel seems to stare at the space where the Boost Knuckle was before turning its attention back to your Grungust.

"You wanna take me on, big boy? Bring it!" You goad Zeruel. You have no idea if it even understands or acknowledges your taunt, but it seems to be focused on you for the moment.

Now, if only you could figure out a way to avoid being killed by it within the next 30 seconds...

VOTE BY PLAN

Given that Zeruel could break into the Geofront if things go badly on the surface, who should be deployed where?

Assign EVAs to either the surface or the Geofront. If Zeruel breaks through to the Geofront, those deployed to the surface will narratively have to waste time getting back down into the Geofront. Committing all EVAs to either the surface or the Geofront is a valid strategy. If you wish to split the EVAs, up to TWO can be assigned to each location.

The Solar Vanguard will arrive in the middle of the next round of combat.

What is the general strategy until they arrive?

[ ] Write-in
-The strategy must make sense based on where each EVA is deployed. EVAs in the Geofront cannot provide fire support to the surface, and vice-versa.

The MAGI have determined the following may be able to degrade Zeruel's AT Field aside from the EVA's AT Fields:
Getter Rays
Photon Power
Lambda Drivers
Magic as used by Rune Gods of the Magic Knights
Psychoframe Phenomena

A/N: This is the Zeruel fight. Did you really think I'd make it easy? And yes, that is essentially Asuka's loadout from the anime. I'm sure you can make it work :V. Anyway, please vote, discuss, and critique!

Jesus christ a 40 DC from that AT field.

We are gonna have to use a lot of our heavy hitters to degrade that thing to at least acceptable levels, like don't think even Frontal had a DC that high.

For the main assault we gonna need to use apart from the evas, the Getter, the brothers and the rune gods till everyone can get their will bonuses.

Otherwise I doubt Sousuke and the gundams are going to survive an encounter with it.

page 71 of catch up

the Gundam scientist saying that the Council unit having BT Myomer make me went back and look at the reactor they use and i think they are using BT reactor since they use hydrogen to open up a spacetime hole to get power which is what led to BT FTL system

as i am catching up i have no clue if this is relevant or not

Well, shit. This ain't gonna be fun.

...Let's avoid 666, yeah?

As for who goes where... Honestly, Shinji should probably be out front. His extra Armor DC plus regen makes him a good wall, which will keep him in the fight longer than others by comparison, and he'll help whittle down Zeruel in the meantime.

Asuka would prefer a forward position with her +2 to attacking, but she runs a serious risk of Fragile kicking in if Zeruel gets past her. Of course, Asuka also has that little problem of chomping at the bit to fight, which if she gets totally denied could be a further issue.

In related news, I say we set Noriko on her in the aftermath.

Toji's an interesting case. He's inexperienced, but he's got a neat little skill that makes him pretty good in either position, although the bonus to . That extra armor DC at the start could help him blunt the assault.

Rei, in the legacy of SRW, is the White Bread of a sandwich. Unexciting, but helpful when used properly. We can put her anywhere.

Thinking about it, the EVA's count as supers without magic or as reals?

Mostly asking since their nature is kinda blurry or certain aspects, otherwise deploying them with the grungust was a good choice if they get the +2.

Do we send all the EVAs on surface or should we keep on in Geofront just in case? Aside from that, we're going to want Toji to tank the Angel, since, assuming he has an Ability score equal or slightly lower than the other pilots, he has the best combination of traits for tanking, which means he goes on the surface (if he has 8 Ability, then his effective armor score is 21, his effective mobility score is 17 and the Angel rolls with +14 against him instead of +18 and if it strikes armor, then it needs to roll a 10 to actually damage him).

After the rest of our forces show up, we'll have Amuro also get involved in fighting the Angel, since he has the statline to competently fight it even with 5 Will, while we see how the Angel's AT Field reacts to other things that could damage it aside from other AT Fields.

Well, I definitely want to keep at least one person back. Probably Rei, she has the most patience of the pilots. Give her a spot to wait and surround her with basically anything that wasn't already launched.

Shinji and Toji should work together to keep Zeruel's focus on them and away from Asuka and the damaged Noriko, while the girls do hit-and-run tactics. Preferably working together, since the Grungust isn't doing much by itself, but taking advantage of the EVAs getting in would let her pile on some extra damage.

Added an Ability score and actual spirit commands to Toji. I don't know how I missed that...

Also, I raised a figurative eyebrow when you decided to take the Throne Drei instead of the Laevatien. Now you know why.

Sosuke was still in a bad funk, which would have weakened the effectiveness of his Lambda Driver, which meant that he might not have helped all that much against the Angel (and the rest of the deployment covered the other potential weaknesses of the AT Field). As proven by the update, most of what we have can't stand to the Angel without gathering some Will, hence my decision to throw in another support unit as replacement for Sosuke. Time will tell if that was the right call or not.

He can't have his girlfriend, he can't rebel against God, what can he do?!

I am betting that he becomes a hikikomori after "borrowing" Belfangan's anime collection.

like maybe something like ' do to technological development, a mass produce Mazinger the Ichinana is now available, gain 1 squad of 10x Ichinana from Photon Lab'

the fucking scopedog crit while the council crit fail couldn't be more hilarious, imagine being punk by generic grunt scopedog pilot, god the humiliations

China really need to upgrade to their Tieren to Ahead and Gun-ru to Chuyen ( XT 401, the cheaper Shen Hu and basically the Chinese KMF version of Vincent Ward and Akatsuki)

That's to do damage without anything that is good against the AT fields being present and it does not get anywhere near that kind of a bonus when it comes to it trying to hit things. As the fight goes on that bonus will drop as we hit the damm thing with increasing amounts of firepower.

We should start with throwing the Getter Units and the Mazingers at it with the Magic Knights as supporters when we arrive because we are going to have to deal with more than just the fake Angel in this fight and we need people to respond to New Threats as they come up.

As for the EVAs we should spend sometime thing about how to deploy them based on the weapon load outs the Four have to start the fight.

Either way I like the plan, and yeah we need to keep Rei underground so she doesn't get funny ideas.
