Architect's Workshop (Girls' Frontline design quest)

Just in case— yes, I did see this, but alas, you were too late.

And to everyone else: I only consider what's in vote tallies, so be sure to put down your ideas as a vote as opposed to freeform discussion.
Well, I only thought of that after the voting period ended -_-''

EDIT: @Solark The ''d' in, for exemple, ''[-] home-on-jam mortar bomb for Jaguar: 1d'' is one day, right ?
Does that mean that if you take both the home-on-jam mortar and cat ears it will take 3 days to design ?

So is there a reason we can't contact Intruder and give the options so she can tell us what will work best for her? She is the end user after all. Asking her is just common sense.

Ok I will try a first plan, feel free to discuss it:

[X] Plan Cute Electronic Kitten
-[x] Cat ears tightly focused RF beam tracking kit: 2d
-[x] Oral comms, modem-like digitalized vocalization:1d
-[x] Costumes and decoys (discussion with Intruder): 0d
-[x] Have Scarecrow handle these
--[x] better autonomous behavior patterns (Scarecrow): 0d (1d)
--[x] fault-tolerant protocol (Scarecrow): 0d (2d)

Total: 3 days of work

(My goal is to use some synergy between the beam tracking and oral comms, when jamming happen, Intruder would focus her beam on the first doll she can spot and that doll will simply repeat the orders vocally but through digitalized vocalization to prevent short-term interception/decryption, each doll will repeat the order when they hear it to make sure that all of them get connection.
The costumes and decoys are mainly to avoid Intruder being pinned down in case she need to get closer to get a visual on her troops location for the tracking beam)

"The number you are trying to reach is being jammed, please try again later, after you've completed your assignment."

But I concur, you'll have a call with Intruder before the design phase. Just come up with a plan that you think will work, since drowning her in options is not what she expects from you.

So is this selecting the options we'll present to Intruder, and then afterwards we can expect to work on some or all of the options we chose? Or should we only plan on picking a few day's worth of options right now?

Think of it like this: options are not solutions, they are just for you, but not for Intruder. So the goal is to combine the options into a plan, or a comprehensive solution for her problem. Then you'll present your plan to Intruder, hear her feedback and will be able to adjust the plan if needed, using the options from the current list.

[X] Plan Jam This
-[X] laser comms, free space: 2d
-[X] laser comms, diffuse reflections addition (requires laser comms, free space): 1d
-[X] oral comms, regular speech: 0d
-[X] oral comms, modem-like digitalized ultrasound vocalization: 2d
-[X] better autonomous behavior patterns (Scarecrow): 0d (1d)
-[X] fault-tolerant protocol (Scarecrow): 0d (2d)
-[X] brevity codes (discussion with Intruder): 0d
-[X] Costumes and decoys (discussion with Intruder): 0d

One packaged comprehensive solution: Lasers. The diffuse reflections option makes it terribly easy to bypass radio communications altogether, and laser emitters can be put on troops and drones fairly easily. Combine that with ultrasound squad-level communication, Scarecrow's software improvements, and brevity codes, such that successful implementation of these systems bypasses radio jamming from multiple angles altogether. Costumes and decoys are discussed since Intruder probably would appreciate that, but not Intruder's positioning, since she's got plenty of good reasons to want to be outside of any one battlefield.

Only downside is this doesn't include the cat ears, but five days (on Architect's end) is pushing it as is. :(

[x] Plan Broadband
-[x] home-on-jam T-Doll portable missile: 2d
-[x] ground-based self-propelling signal amplifier (repurposed Tarantula bot): 1d
-[x] oral comms, modem-like digitalized vocalization: 1d
-[x] brevity codes (discussion with Intruder): 0d
-[x] regular SF jammer-turned-transmitter loosely focused beam without tracking: 1d

Not sure if this is intentional, but just in case: 0-days options are not going to be included unless you explicitly add them into your plan.
Why? Because it's up to you to decide if you trust Scarecrow.

Nothing in the list is mutually exclusive. You can have EVERY option in your plan, if you're prepared to pay the price with days spent on it.
I dont understand you, my plan have Cat ears, 2 days, digital oral comm, 1 day, and decoy discussion with Intruder, 0 days
For a total of 3 days
Did I missed something ?

I don't mind spending time here, on some of the options anyway.

Okay, so we have three categories, I feel like we should try to narrow it down to one option for each and then maybe consider options that will have applications outside of jamming situations.

The explosive option in particular is a good one I feel like not just because its relatively cheap, but also because its a deterrent. Most of the other options are redundancies, the tracking ordinance however will make it costly for them to use the jammers. It makes them evaluate cost/benefit of risking deploying them in the first place.

What I'm trying to say is you can also have Scarecrow's updates and more discussions with Intruder and field telephone included and it'll still be 3 days. But if you leave your plan as it is now, Scarecrow isn't going to do her software updates at all.

[X] Plan: COs and NCOs
-[x] home-on-jam T-Doll portable missile: 2d
-[x] cat ears tightly focused RF beam tracking kit: 2d
-[x] oral comms, regular speech: 0d
-[x] Have Scarecrow handle these
--[x] better autonomous behavior patterns (Scarecrow): 0d (1d)
--[x] fault-tolerant protocol (Scarecrow): 0d (2d)
-[X] Added because my brain didn't compute the 0d
--[x] field telephone: 0d
--[x] brevity codes (discussion with Intruder): 0d
--[x] Intruder's positioning (discussion with Intruder): 0d
--[x] Costumes and decoys (discussion with Intruder): 0d

My reasoning for this selection is, no jammer no problem. The cat ears would allow for ordering and tracking two groups independently, incase G&K or whoever puts the jammer somewhere the missile can't get too. Now depending on how big a 'group' is or how this system works exactly, it might not be that useful on its own so with oral comms coupled with better autonomous behavior patterns she could have those groups relay instructions to the rest of her forces verbally.

(Not sure if this next bit is even possible but what the hell)
Depending on how the autonomous behavior thing shakes out SF could potentially create subordinate Command Units that are just smart enough to comprehend tactics which means less micro management of individual units/squads.

It could also begin establishing the foundation of a military style command structure, which would eventually help get rid of another weakness SF has (not entirely sure if I'm remembering this right). Namely that killing a ringleader or severing the grunts connection to command making them hilariously inept. They probably wouldn't be able to coordinate as well without a ringleader in charge but the pockets of SF troops left over after an operation like that would still have something resembling tactic, and who knows, they might manage to kill something or someone important.

Thanks, I missed that if our plan is 3 days and more we can ask her to do the updates, I added it to my plan

Plan Cute Electronic Kitten have been updated !

In addition to all of the above, I think that if you give simple dolls to use speech, it will be much easier to disguise the ringleader among them. After all, they will all talk and therefore will not stand out. It's a good way for Intruder to make good deception shows and use their abilities to mislead the opponents.

Undeadmuffin01, can you add speaking to your plan as well? It costs 0d anyway, and so it's an option in using dolls as decoys.

Not a fan of having our dolls screaming our orders in clear around our enemies, to be honest...

EDIT: in addition, my use of decoy was in the worst case scenario if Intruder could not establish comm with her unit, not for close, active use in battle

I don't want our puppets openly shouting commands. I want the Intrumer to be able to use them as decoys so they can be disguised as themselves or as enemy puppets.

So use digital communication for fast data transfer, and normal speech for sabotage and traps.

I mean give both of these capabilities, not just one.
