[X] Type-7 Regenerative (Prototype)

I'll nth this one.
Agree with a few others, going full gonzo on prototypes is likely to end horribly.

As it is, prototype warp naecelles have a track record of detonating.

We should do a 300 meter only 1 prototype workhorse vessel post Dominion war to replace all the dead Miranda's.

Cowards and traitors. We live in the better timeline where we will not continue the scourge.

But actually designing another mid-sized workhorse ship could be fun if the game continues past this. We have been focusing on propulsion and tactical prototypes for a while, there are whole other realms of prototypes we could be stuffing into more generalist designs.

"This time for sure we're going to replace the Miranda!"
- unofficial SDB motto

I just relaized something: are the peace at any pricers the ones fighting hardest to keep the Miranda in production because of how worthless it is in a fight?

All kidding aside it's still not a bad ship. They're super useful as backline ships and as long as they're cheap to maintain they still a role since as pseudo coast guard.

If Starfleet wanted to go super cheap they could just use runabouts for internal affairs, or just like extremely stripped down and mostly automated ships; that way more crew is available for other stuff.

But there is a point where it becomes more of a resource drain than it is worth to keep old production yards and equipment for outdated tech online, and in cannon they were getting pretty close to that point by the Dominion war, so it would have been a perfect time to try to get a ship purpose built for the role with an emphasis on cheap production and maintenance. But it didn't, probably for the same reason that sort of thing happens in real life... Socio-economical/Socio-political inertia, things are often replaced a fair while after they really should be.

That was about 20 years ago, now shuttlecraft are getting to the point they can kill the Miranda in a 1 vs 1 and the only thing they have going for them over the Ushaan is carry capacity which is a terrible reason to have a ship class that isn't a freighter or courier. They are about as useful in a fight as Worf when he has the flu.

Oh, sorry then. That whole thing has growing to become a bit of an issue with me over the last 'little bit'.

Why exactly do you dislike it, Starfleet wanting peace to the point of having no dedicated 'warships', is more or less a cannon fact; Starfleet personnel like to present themselves as peaceful explorers and that's a fun and engaging flaw in my opinion.

It's less the shift towards pacifistic actions, and using that as a flaw, and more the maliciousness that many attribute to the 'Peaceniks'/'Peace at any Pricers'.

It's why i said as long as it's cheap to maintain. As long as a refit package is on the table then I can see it going longer. Eventually it will get scrapped or aold.
