An answer to the Shiplords?
Okay my panic was too intenalized-
The Authority wants to talk with the humans, right?
But, problem- This won't be as simple as merely say, negotiating a ceasefire, thank you Gyrians. And sure Hivjin Sphere we are not but uhh.
Shiplords have gone full cruelty for cruelty's sake in their effort to protect the galaxy-Well.
Yeah no. Maybe if we were alone but we're not alone we've reached out to races who want ou from under the Tribute system.
And even if that status was extended to humanity we'd have to turn a blind eye to those still under the tribute system…
But anyhow!
War is about to be on because Humanity too powerful and worse, powerful in a WEIRD way that might enable things that make the Shiplords freak.
And we've been on the pilgrimage and hoping to complete it to learn enough to basically replace the Consolat, and sooth the psychological wounds wound into Shiplord Culture so they can unclench and actually honestly consider peace terms that will work long term and nyarrgh.

So.
Hoping Amanda can make the tally checks if we get the info for her to be able to do it on 'auto-pilot' as it were, so that those last update's don't involve us having to deliver the masterstroke sentences of Amanda's final BEFRIENDING speech to the Shiplords…
As for what do now?
Hahahaha as if I think I actually understand the situation enough to vote here!

:Do you think it will help?: Mary asked.
You've got way too much bold in the update starting here.
Isn't it the case that if they die, everything they've learned dies with them?
It is, but the odds of successfully using this information for anything other than exhibits in the Shiplord War Museum go down sharply the further we get from "right the fuck now," so we can't just check back in with Earth and then pick up where we left off. We don't have much choice but to throw a Hail Mary and hope we checkmate them with a home run.

[X] Talk with Kalilah about recent revelations - this will allow Amanda to level the (frankly impressive to still be functional) emotional state of the most powerful combat asset in the entire mission, the Adamant included.

*grumbles*

SV keeps trying to convert : D and : V into emotes. I get around this by placing bold tags between the semi-colon and the letter and must have not closed the bold whilst trying to fix one of the emotes. It should be fixed now. Thanks.
Try using Plain tags. They do nothing except say "everything inside here is plaintext, please don't do anything to it".
Code:
[plain]:v[/plain]
:v

[x] Talk with Sidra - your Unison Platform has not been themself since the Third Sorrow, and perhaps before. Something's wrong, and you've been putting off this conversation for weeks. There probably won't be time at the Consolat Origin. See to it now.

If anyone's most likely to be neck deep in any bs Amanda gets caught up in it is Sidra. Better to handle this now because they are deeply entwined and need to be prepared for what they're going into together.

[X] Help Mary - specifically with her investigation into what the Secrets being deliberately created might mean, and how you might be able to leverage this in investigating the Consolat homeworld.
I think we need that thought over and clarified as much as possible before we arrive at the Consolat homeworld. To have a chance to understand what they really did and, if we are lucky, come up with a suitable patch. Or something that helps us to stop the galaxy from burning.

Can't we do a Miracle to fix the Void Crystal after one jump?
@justinkal got most of this. The other reason is that they have no idea how much time it would take to actually do this. When Mandy repaired Artefacts before, back when she was just another Mender (hah!) helping fix up Earth after the Sorrows, it took her months. You very much do not have that sort of time right now.

Code:

Problem is, I need them italicised to fit the formatting. So plain tags break it too >.<

Thank you, though!

* Kalilah: She's a valuable friend and member of the crew, but on the other hand... if it comes to a point where her skills are needed, we're probably already in a really bad situation. The other options are more likely to help us avoid it in the first place.
My thinking here is that the failure mode for Kalilah is much less likely to be "we need her skills, but she's not using them as well as she could be" than "we don't need her skills but she uses them anyway."

*stares* It's piss me off the week I guess.

So... I have some thoughts about the vote but I'm going to wait for some discussion before I actually cast one.

In order of increasing preference:

* Iris: Her insights are valuable, but I don't think they're really urgent. They might even be more useful to study after we've seen what there is to see at the Origin; we'll have plenty of time on the way back to Earth, if our jump speed is being nerfed.
* Kalilah: She's a valuable friend and member of the crew, but on the other hand... if it comes to a point where her skills are needed, we're probably already in a really bad situation. The other options are more likely to help us avoid it in the first place.
* Mary: Her insights could be extremely valuable in helping us quickly focus in on whatever is most important at the Origin. The less time between arriving and finding our answer, the more likely it is we can escape or talk our way out without violence.
* Sidra: Identifying a potentially significant unknown problem is a priority that should have been handled before now. This is doubly true when it pertains to someone that's essentially the other half of Amanda's soul. We need them both functioning.

- Iris: Just spent the most time of anyone, not just any human anyone in our budding alliance against Shiplord oppression, talking to the Shiplords' Military. It would be useful to know what she found out if the clock is ticking to us having to talk to their military.

- Kalilah: Has been taking this whole talking to Shiplord thing and the revelations thereof good so far, but with the pressure mounting as the Shiplord Authority is now in pursuit of the Adamant are we sure she is emotionally stable enough not to shoot first and talk never?

- Mary: Our resident Secret Whisperer. Helping Mary figure out how to get into and out the Consolat homeworld as fast as possible will mean that we spend as little time as we have to there to get what we need. But the question there is will this be fast enough to matter even with helping Mary?

- Sidra: The mystery box option with our mind-partner. Sidra wants to talk to us about something, but like Amanda is willing to endure for others' sake. No idea what this is about right now, but it could matter.

Old Tesla Pic was last seen on this site 20 minutes ago. If we need someone to write us a powerful speech to move someone over to a position after we already know plenty about them he is a good call for a phone-a-friend on a problem like that.

Edit: Too angry to vote right now. Will do so later when I calm down and am able to better think.

Don't know if it helps - but, try to see it like this: 100 years from now all that stuff that makes you want to explode like an atomic bomb doesn't matter anymore.
And if it doesn't matter a 100 years from now, does it really matter today?

But all the stuff that is pissing me off will most likely matter a 100 years from now.

But not to you. Most likely. And no, I'm not trying to make a cheap joke on your expenses, I'm honestly trying to offer a different point of view.

Life matters. Here and now. The idea that whoever and whatever is pissing me off now will be dust in a century is of no comfort. 💡

Alright then since you pushed me before I calmed down:

[X] Talk with Kalilah about recent revelations - this will allow Amanda to level the (frankly impressive to still be functional) emotional state of the most powerful combat asset in the entire mission, the Adamant included.

Let's make sure Amanda doesn't push before Kalilah has calmed down.

Guess I'll go ahead and cast my vote now.

It is wise to remember that Unisonbound Intelligences are, in many ways, reflections of their bonded. That's where a lot of them comes from, after all.

Honestly, this point is very worrying to me and should be ringing alarm bells in everyone's heads. Amanda is TOTALLY the kind of person to sacrifice her own needs for the needs of others. Given the QM's quote there, we really need to get to the bottom of this, as we do need Amanda and Sidra at 100%. Anything less at this point in their venture is almost criminally negligent, given the whole, you know, Earth depending on what they find to survive?!
