Really think we're missing a trick if we don't dispose of the gunk further from our lair. We'll run through our current food stockpile in roughly the time it takes to finish dealing with the various issues we've got, with maybe a day or two extra if we're likely. Another food windfall from attracting and killing a ??? level predator would give us enough runway to get a second farm set up quickly - I for one am tired of these constant food scarcity issues.

Keep in mind the food takes up space in our house too. If we got say 7 food again next turn it would be wasted from overflow.

Probably won't come up but at this point we can only store 10 food at max

@Tam Lin, You kinda didn't answer my question.

To Reiterate it, What happens if we keep the Elements relatively balanced when we Cultivate them instead of spitting them out?
Oh sorry, I didn't see it.

It's a 'try it and find out' wink wink nudge nudge

5 food, actually.

You have 15 total inventory space and the Fungus Farm takes up 10.

You don't IMMEDIATELY lose everything in your inventory, but you'll start to attract scavengers and predators that will steal your stuff if you consistently have a lot of extra stuff.

Why bother messing around with the gunk though. We can get the same chance of attracting a predator simply by cultivating outside.

It also seems like there might be Cultivation arts that use elements but are the result of joining sects so we won't learn without lots of try hard and luck

Cultivating outside only attracts ?? Predators which you'll have to spend turns on. Gunk shovelling attracts ??? Predators that fight to the death, meaning the entire fight takes place in 1 turn. Also, ??? Predators = more food than ?? Predators, so there's that.

The only issue would be inventory space, but as I said before, exceeding your inventory limit doesn't mean you lose the items. It just means you attract scavengers that will steal your stuff.

We're only starting to clear gunk on Day 35, by which time we'll have eaten three Food and the chance if getting a ??? predator isn't that high on a single gunk-clearing action. It's more likely that it happens in one of the 2-3 subsequent gunk-clearing actions, which is roughly at the point our current food stockpile will be running out.

Why bother messing around with the gunk though. We can get the same chance of attracting a predator simply by cultivating outside.

We need to clear the gunk one way or another, apparently some stuff is gated behind it.

We're going to be cultivating outside for the next while anyway, but the chance of attracting a predator is much higher if we do both. The fact that the ??? predator will fight to the death is also really helpful, as it means we don't take multiple days worth of actions to kill it.

You already got the stuff that was gated behind the gunk by killing the ladybug.

The stuff that was being gated was finding Qi Veins, and the Ant technique

Note that a ??? level predator requires a three digit number of progress.
And to the death means we can't take a break.

Depending on how the QM wants it to be, having elemental Qi could be beneficial, although it could be if we have only one type of it, or crippling.

Depending on the Xianxia, it makes the cultivator more powerful when using the element, although it might make them worse with the other elements, it is just unrefined Qi which takes more effort than normal to use unless you have a cultivation technique for the element, it is impurities left over by pills, or it leads to Qi deviations.

And having more than one type could lead to it transforming through the wuxing cycle, which could be beneficial, or lead to lethal Qi deviations.

Yes, but because it's not a cultivator, statistically it's really unlikely for it to win. It can't do much damage to us on counterattacks, on the infrequent occasions it gets one through. We do 16.5 average damage every attack, which gets through 100hp in ~6 rounds. It's extremely unlikely for it to kill us in that time before we kill it - keep in mind our HP is quite high too.

I think you are making an assumption that could prove very poor about the potential threat. The Earthworm was a ?? predator and it still dealt 2 damage. And a ??? predator could be much more powerful than just 100. That's the bare minimum.

We were a much lower level then, and at a hunger penalty, which shifts the bell curves by a lot.

We would still statistically probably win against a 150-200hp predator, but I honestly doubt Tam Lin is going to throw that at us for our first one, with the run of bad luck we've had.

Since we've apparently got the content that was gated behind the gunk, I'd like to suggest a drastic course of action. Abandon this messed up nest and seek out greener pastures.

How do we know the predator attracted won't be a cultivator? I might be tempted to do this if we know that for sure.
