[X] Farm Survives (Start with fungus farm unlocked, a shelter and 1 fungus farm)

I think we can build more than one fungus farm if we upgrade our shelter enough? If so this puts us 20% of the way to net neutral food barring bad event rolls, at which point we can focus on cultivation. Less hunger means we need less fungus farms, but we aren't gaurenteed to unlock fungus farms, making farm survives the best option.

By the way, I would like to spend one action on colony integration at the beginning of our new life, just so that we know how difficult it is, so we can weigh the pros and cons in the event of a death spiral. After all, colony joining is just for one life, so hopefully that will make some rugged ant individualists less antagonistic to the option.

Barnabas' Cultivation Guide to Beasts and Demonic Beasts
Introduction to Cultivating Beasts

The first thing one must know about cultivation, is that it is not inherent to all creatures. Some have so little talent for the art, they need an external stimulus, their lifespans so small, or their meridians so fouled up, that it is functionally impossible. Insects frequently fall under this umbrella, but many livestock follow this principle as well, their domestication rendering their Meridians fouled up and unusable for anything related to the Arts. Of course, as is the inclination of Mankind, there ARE cultivating livestock, however they are a precious resource, one that even the greatest of sects treasure as a renewable source of certain materials.

The second, is that there are numerous ways for a creature to cultivate. As many as there are beasts. Some are similar enough that one can categorize them together, others are so different that one would think cultivation some grand joke perpetrated by the heavens. Dual Cultivation, Devouring of the Strong, Collective Constellations, Troublesome Intervention, and Deceptive Life are some of the most common Cultivation classifications for beasts.

Third, is that Demonic Beasts exist. They do not adhere to the Natural order of both man and nature, often eschewing one or both to instead gain power and strength. Their nature, tainted by their cultivation, leads to beasts filled with malice and hatred. Tsukumogami that drink the blood of people, Beasts that engage in cannibalism, and other such beings are the most common types of Demonic Beasts. The rarest are existences that warp and taint the land specifically to make their cultivation better.

Lets see what cultivation level we start with.

[X] Less Hungry (When there is no food available, it takes 1 more day for you to go from normal to hungry. Does not affect going from Hungry to starving and onward)

Ai, my bribe sacrifice to the heavens was not accepted: woe, woe is me.

Omake Rewards tutorial
How Omake Rewards work
In order to prevent people from spamming Omakes, the number of Omake rewards that can be claimed is limited to the number of Realms you have in your last life.

Since you died during the 1st Realm of Qi Gathering, the players can only claim 1 Omake reward.

This refreshes each time you go up a Realm (Meaning, from 1st Realm of Qi Gathering to 2nd Realm of Qi Gathering and so on)

There are no omake credits. You can't just save omake points up and spend them later. It's first come, first serve.

That said, @Creation Cage select from one of these rewards:

[] +5 to the next action
[] +1 to the next 10 actions
[] Next negative event is a positive event instead.

edit: reasoning is "it's useless to plan a perk for mid- to long-game, if we can't get throuh the early game". The free food from the farm + the pre-built shelter ease our early burdens, and give us some leeway in our action choices early on.

Less Hungry is probably potentially more optimal, but if I understand it correctly it only kicks-in if we actually have no food, requiring us to balance the fine line between having and not having food to fully utilise. With randomness of the rolls, I'd rather go with something more stable.

Unless someone does the maths that results in Forager being better, I'm going with shelter.

Hard to say what is strictly better, I lean towards Farm.

Foraging typeProgress for 1 FoodFood per ProgressProgress for 3 FoodChance
(3 turns of food in 2 actions)
(using anydice.com)
Normal101/10=0.13*10=302d20>=30
=0.1t
Canny71/7=0.14285714285713*7=212d20>=21
=0.5250
Assuming a "Scavenge, Scavenge, Qi" loop we'd need 3 Food from 2 actions until we reach a Qi tier that gives a dice bonus.
Taking Canny gives a good boost to that, but we'd need to rush shelter to get rid rid of the increased food consumption. (Note: the expected value of 2d20 is exactly the value needed for the Food)
With Farms we have the unknown if Farms can be upgraded and if having the Farms unlocks more efficient Food actions.
If Farms can't be upgraded they are 1 Food per 5 turns -> the equivalent of 2 progress per turn.
Meaning
StrategyFood math
Canny2d20>=21
Farm (assuming no upgrades/better actions)2d20>=(30-3*2)
2d20>=24
With better actions Farm would probably be better, but we'd need to know what Tam Lin intends for them.
I assume they intend for us to find out, so I'll take Farms as a gamble that there is an upgrade we can rush (instead of Cannys shelter rush).

Hope we survive the first turns with that because we start with 0 food.

Omake reward: Unlocking Omake reward.
Wait, but how we could even get Omake reward, if it didn't exist before unlocking? And if unlocking is reward itself, than we cannot obtain it in any way, because we didn't have reward function to do so from the start.
