Dungeon Crawler You!

Moose: THANK YOU, TAYLOR! MOOSE THINKS TAYLOR'S BREATH IS FINE TOO! ESPECIALLY WHEN HE HAS BEEN EATING MILK DUDS!
So good lol
one way we could use the changing of interfaces is to swap the accept button with the deny one, we could swap their places and what is written in the button, but not it's functionality, and use it to make someone accept a deal they dont want or something like that

We can just make their normal inventory UI invisible, the same way that all the goodies borant hid are.

Ooh, we need to figure out if there's a set of short keys that can be used to turn on... what was it, beacon mode? The one that basically made an internet with each inventory being ports, without spending the 5 minutes to unlock their interface.

Then we send a mass message out and laugh

Some things are invisible, others are just "scroll to the right for 10 mins" kind of stuff.
And you probably mean the mesh network/Relay?
Relay: Your ValtayComm chat system supports opt-in mesh networking between other ValtayComm users within its authorized zone. Mesh networking functions by assembling a graph of all users who have opted in to the network and then relaying messages from one user to the next to the next in order to support communication between crawlers who know one another's IDs but are not in one another's contact lists.

Okay guys, the lights kept flickering and we were told we were super lucky that the beetles were dead "when the door opened". That phrasing, combined with being told that the light "flickered, more often off than on", tells me that these things are only dead while the lights are on, or possibly while we can see them.

Scaaaaaary

Moose: THE ENTIRE PLATFORM IS SOLID RED! MOOSE DOES NOT LIKE THIS!

"I don't see any mobs," Calliope said, looking out the window as they pulled in. The lights at this station were flickering, off more than on. The train came to a halt with the familiar blue flash and the doors slid open.

Moose: THE PLATFORM IS NO LONGER RED! THERE IS NO RED ON THE PLATFORM AT ALL!

...
Corpse of Destroyer Beetle

You have no idea how crazy lucky you are that this little bastard was dead when the doors opened. No. Idea.

For reference

It will be 6 hours before we can pull more Sysop moves but with the full menu now visible we can play around with the chat functions. If I'm reading it right, we can use the names on the mass chain messages to send messages to those people via the peer to peer relay function and if the message is "accept direct contact?" and they do, we get to add them to Taylor's contacts list without a fist bump for future Sysop shenanigans. Or even if we don't get the full lists we can we can work back from the people who sent to us - ask them the ID of the people who sent to them and then use the P2P to send a request for direct contact. Then repeat.

@eaglejarl is that right?

[X] Heyo Barbie Let's Go Party
Commit to buying Valtaycomm Premium at the earliest opportunity
Unlock Levi (and co's) interfaces, ask Levi to come up with a list of instructions to turn on relay/mesh mode with an unaltered stylesheet.
Party at the desperado club, fistbump everyone to prepare a 'seed' contact list for future nonsense.
Offer Moose 1 Shirley Temple per conversation witHOUT THIS STYLE OF PUNCTUATION, TO BE USED AT TAYLORS DISCRETION
Drew and a Taylor get drunk and check out the Penis Palace for laughs, and make some friends. Leo makes a scene about (drunk) dogs and cats getting along, tries to ride Moose in his mini form

Start traveling to 139 for the Barbie line. Stop at a particularly interesting x5 or x0 station to see if Team Trickshot can find out where the mold sanitizer is sourced

Taylor: Get CON above 20 again, maybe a point or 2 in DEX because shooting, yoyo and balancing after teleports all run off it, then back abord the INT train. Managing a huge contacts list needs processing power and buffing allies via Sysop needs mana (so does necromancy).

Calliope: DEX then STR then CHA. She lives or dies by mobility in fights and her main offence is muscle powered. She'll need to keep CHA improving as her opponents in cons and bargaining get stronger.

Drew: CHA then INT then DEX. CHA makes luck procs bigger and bigger effect means more xp to FFC. Drew is also our main face - Leo has Skills but Drew has actual people skills and charm. INT because he's our wizard and needs mana. DEX because hand cannon - Cannon Cocker sppes up loading but it's still up to him not to drop the ball (aim is also handy).

Just a thought, but we could probably use Drew's pistol to shoot the Skyhawk somewhere farther than normal, set the Skyhawk to its immovable mode and create a handy bridge, etc.

Or fill it up with gold to create a double grapeshot. Drew gets the damage going out, Taylor gets the damage pulling it back in

[x] Plan: All Change Please!
It's time do some station based stuff
  • Visit Desperado Club and shops - make more contacts, sell drops from grinding, buy alchemy/chemistry stuff.
  • Explore the new possibilities of the revealed interface functions. Spread knowledge of invisible buttons and how to press them. Spread the Mesh network for messaging to cut down on duplicate messages.
  • Do the above first while Taylor is on cooldown from the transfer so he can do his ranged buffs once we go looking for trouble.
  • Thoroughly explore a station of each type, learn where to find boss rooms, search for secret doors, ?loot ticket halls.
  • Drew should squeeze as many shots as he can out of each cannon summon, fire blind and trust to Luck if needed.
  • Camp a platform at an alighting only station when the Cannon spell is available. The long sightline through a dense crowd of mobs should make for serious carnage.
  • If we set up at the back end of the platform we can rake the front carriages as the train is emerging from the tunnel and have time to turn the gun up the platform before the train stops and the doors open.
  • Subsequent trains will be harder but we have firepower, chemical weapons, barriers, crowd control tricks and Moose can shove mobs onto the tracks. Once we get tired we get on the next train as the mobs are leaving - keep some heavy attack back for getting through them.
  • Edit Levys System Style, so everything out of the way hidden or invisibilty hidden is still exactly where it was, but now visible and with a Background color that makes it clear its new. Point out the out of the way items to him and then ask him to make mini-documentation messages about the hidden features to share among all Crawlers. Ask him to start with deduplication, relay and screenshots and help.
  • Also, send out our bartalk notes on the line we were on.

Anyone got anything to add?

139 is a prime number and should have a Desperado Club entrance so after doing All Change Please! Extracurricular activities we can farm the train and try to explore the one other room we haven't gotten into besides the janitor car and the dining car. We can also see if those cars are the same on every train. We really need to see what we can get at the Desperado Club. I don't know of beginner Alchemy books are a thing (or any of the other skills) but if so we should definitely try to find them. Everyone who is going to work on a skill should pick one and start experimenting. We know that you don't start earning loot for things until you start working on them. Among the extracurriculars should be reaching out to Charlie and seeing if they have anyone who's stocked up a lot of boxes.

[X] Mad skills
Taylor Gold - Incendiary stuff
Taylor Blue - Alchemy
Calliope - maybe some sort of smiting?
Drew - I liked the suggestion of some sort of magical garden thing
I'm open to suggestions and/ or we can ask Levi what the most useful skills are in the dungeon?

[X] Stylin Profilin
We also need on of the Taylors to spend some serious time seeing what we can do with the Stylesheet skill. I think the cascading texts/contact list should work but I'd love to see if we can set up a message board type situation where people can share what they learn about The Tangle, mobs, recipes for crafting, etc.

If we run into helpful NPCs again I want to prioritize asking about the beetlesand if the train releases something that kills them. I more Twinnstars has a light/ Weeping Angel theory about them but if it was that easy to solve we could just have the torch spell on all the time. So, expect something trickier. Are the tunnels lit at all EJ? Maybe they change if they stay in darkness for a set amount of time?

CrabTravel had a great idea for combining Taylor's Gold Grabber with Drew's pistol but I think we take it to the next level and make several sacks filled with gold bits to shove down the cannon the next time we use it. We can make some smaller ones for Drew's pistol as well. This gives us 2 new stunts may I present...

[X] Stunt Golden Shower (pistol)
Drew uses his new pistol to fire gold coated bullets/shrapnel at the mobs. Taylor then uses Gold Grabber to yank the gold back out from different direction making the wounds even worse or possibly hitting other mobs between the one shot by Drew and Taylor.
[X] Stunt Golden Hurricane (cannon)
Same as above but with the cannon. We would have an ammo bag of gold coats stuff ready to go for when Drew summons his cannon.

Someone else also mentioned the clouds of smoke that are going to be made by all this stuff and how that's available for Drew to work with. Another great idea.

I know that was a lot but I'm excited with where we're at and to see everyone posting on here again!

What do you guys think would a high level gold grabber skill do? don't know if levi said it.

Thinking about it... It seems possible that we might be able to use that new spell to rez someone, in combination with other things. I think we should keep it.

I don't know if anyone else read Dungeon Crawler Katia also by EJ but it has a similar thing happen with the message system. I think it gives at least some idea of what we could do with the Stylesheet editing.
This is a link to the pertinent part of the story. For those that don't know, Albert is an AI that's integrated into an item Katia received from a sponsor box.

Chapter 41: The Rescue Rail - Dungeon Crawler Katia

"The showrunners are using a standard civilian chat module, and a low-end one at that," Albert said. "It contains a wide array of advanced communication (...)

Taylor can turn the transparency of the UI to 100% with a touch... how effective does he think this would be in combat? Would he be able to cripple a Crawler's ability to operate their system? What if he turned the opacity to 100% and cranked up the brightness as high as it would go, to serve as a Blinding effect?
It requires touch and it's not instant. The only way you could do it in combat was if you were successfully grappling the person. That said, the basic interface is just health bar, mana bar, and minimap. Editing anything else won't have any effect since they can simply not bring up their interface.

If its a book, should try having IT be casted by one Taylor to see how it interacts with having multiple bodies.
It's a scroll, sorry.

Note: This should be doable for Moose. Grab with frontpaws and dig with backpaws.
Unfortunately, Moose can't wear gloves in order to gain the skill and he doesn't have it now.

When the conditions for the Rearrake skill are met, is that bonus for all attacks or just the ones part of the activation requirements? (Imagine someone were to bite while doing the Rearrake)
It's only for the disemboweling kick attack.

Were the settings for relay messaging, media sharing, and auto deduplication invisible or just way out there?
Some of them are invisible, some are visible but you need to scroll for ~60 seconds to get to it.

Drew and Moose didn't need to wait on Tay and Leo to open their own boxes, it was a mistake to do so but they got away with it this time
Watsonian: It's fun to watch your friends get cool stuff.

Doylist: It's easier to write loot chapters if only one person is getting stuff at a time.

I agree, Barbie line is the goal.
Note that you are currently at station 113 and the Barbie Pink line is first found at 139. Stations in this area are usually 15-20 minutes apart, so you're talking about 7-8 hours to get there.

You can't add names to your contact list per se without physical contact, but once they have their relay set to Open it doesn't matter since you can send them messages and it looks the same to you as if you had sent the message direct. The only difference is that you need to keep the crawler names in your scratchpad instead of your contact list, which isn't particularly relevant. Note that you can't message anyone until they have set their relay options to 'Open' so you'll need to get the message out the old fashioned way.

Buy Valtaycomm Premium
I'm afraid crawlers do not have access to space!internet or space!credit cards and thus cannot buy the Premium edition. :>

Also, two minor retcons:
  1. I removed the 30-hour cooldown on Soul Sprite so now it's only limited by mana availability. Not sure why I had the cooldown there.
  2. I forgot to do Taylor's Gold box. It contained an Arsonist's Toolkit, which allows for limited crafting options while outside a saferoom, for incendiary devices only.

Oooh.
So we could take slain enemies corpses and revive them as additional troops.
And use it to snipe auto-ressurecting.
Or [all the other dead people stuff].

Now the big question:
Can we do it by telling them ("get to element X and scroll right for 60s to get to the Option") or do we need to touch them to undo invisibilty and then be on cooldown for 5 min?
Also, same question for the deduplication thing (which could cut down on the spam of a message reaching you in multiple different ways as long as the Sender/Resender path isn't appended to the beginning)

Technically the invisible items still work as long as you know where they are, so we could probably send edited screenshots or something like that if we needed to.

As @GrayGriffin says: yup, you can do that. The controls are functional, they're simply hidden.
