Edge of the Inner Sphere (A BattleTech Quest)

Termination Clause is what I'm leaning towards myself too. As for the mercs, I'm thinking we should go with the Sons of Abramkovo. While pricier than the single lance options, getting another 'mech company would increase the total number of Battlemechs we have defending us by a third, while still giving us 3:1 numerical odds in the hopefully unlikely case of "issues" arising. Them lacking their own company-sized transportation may be a little tricky to work around though.

Termination Clause is probably the best looking option, and the merc picks and force location look good.

Edit: this one works too

Frankly, the Lyrans are probably the best trading partners you can get among the successor houses and money talks louder then words in their hilariously corrupt society, so establishing trade ties with them can have a worth more then it's weight in gold. The contract isn't forever, and frankly, a 10% chance of our economy going up every year for free is a pretty good deal if the options we got on the first turn are anything to go by.

In lieu of that, Lyran society is always hungry for more consumer goods built by cheap periphery labor and rich enough to buy a lot of them, so this is a great trade good to invest in. Plus, i'm sure our citizens will love being able to get a hold of cheaper goods due to not having the shipping/tarriff costs fobbed on to them. Who doesn't like microwaves, ACs, and smartphones? It'll stimulate the local economy, provide people with relatively decent jobs, and the taxes/tarriffs should provide a good revenue to pursue other then state projects without overly burdening the citizenry.

Projects like improving our roads, public transportation, education, healthcare, access to water and power, ect. Huge things that will not only end up making itself up in terms of GDP and state capacity that private intrests are very unlikely to fund themselves, but it'll be one more source of good jobs for the people, b) great for our popularity and most importantly, and C) genuinely make our citizens life better.

Grabbing two lances, one of which has some experienced mechwarriors with heavy hardware (look at that awesome) and a dropship for rapid repositioning should be a decent deterrent for most pirate band raids when coupled with our existing military. Talked with Fully about using the Shadowhawk Factory to grab a discount already, but I'll ping her to make sure this write in works out. @Fullyautomagic

I figure it's worth it even if it delays our domestic Mechwarrior corps by a little bit. It bulks up the merc company thats already defending us and gives them a reason to care about what happens to this place after their contract run dries. If we ever need them again in the next decade post contract, well, I'm sure losing their source of cheap parts for a entire lance will be a huge factor in how cheaply their willing to sell themselves in our defense in the future, and depending on how things go, battletech is full of merc units with close relationships with various governments ending up house units in all but name as time goes on.

Plus, it drops the economy lowering chance pretty low on both counts, which is always appreciated when we're risking two chcecks.

As for the GSAF, I'll second this vote

Apparently the factory output is to low per quarter that a renegotiation to allow for gifting our a lance or producing parts for them, so we'd have to terminate the contract for them, so my plan is kind of invalid.

Ended up using the high salvage option for the two lance merc contracts, but otherwise kept the plan the same.

Getting only a single extra 'mech lance isn't really worth it for me unless we take the Les Gardes for their Leopard too. If we want to take anything that's strategically stationary I'd rather stick with company size minimum. So here's one plan with the QRF only and another that I'm not too sure about with the QRF and Sons, since there is a chance to lose multiple Economy.

I like this one so I'm revoting. Sorry Sara, I want more salvage :p

Actually, @4WheelSword is there a reason you have the Aerospace Wing defending the cheap Vedette tank factory instead of our SHD-1R factory in Stone Hearth?

And I'm a bit surprised with our ToE really. With a real working 'mech factory on our planet post Succession Wars, you'd think we'd actually be fielding some of them right?

3 Battlions of mechs also it sound slike some of the production ended up in private hands.

Isn't the first Natty Guard 3 companies of mechs?
Yeah, but they're all a mishmash of a ton of different models with not a single SHD-1R between them. From first glance it looks like there's barely any consideration for the logistics of maintaining 3 different companies of 'mechs despite being right on top of functioning factory producing new builds.

Haven't we been selling the entire production of our SHD-1R factory to the Lyrans?

I think that happened just recently.

They'd signed a trade agreement into law just before getting dragged out of office.
I'm not complaining exactly, what we got is a hell of a lot better than a battalion of nothing but primitive Shadow Hawks. Just pointing out that not having any of the actual 'mechs we make in our forces, even as just a second line unit, is somewhat surprising.

Well, I imagine the mechs we already have probably predate the factory and before that we were probably selling them off to other people. Mechs are extremely valuble out in the periphery and three companies is already a fairly decent defense force for one world in this era.
