Renegade Chapter Master Quest (WH40k Quest)

Did you add this in on purpose? If you just want to talk I don't know why you're burning our favor to bring them to Vannaheim just for diplomacy. Unless the plan is to use them to keep Reximus honest so he's less likely to shoot us.

Nah, it was a copy paste error.

And there is no need to give the 10th company a Battle Barge, if you check their spoiler you will see they have 2 Strike cruisers assigned to them.

They are built to be over-strength and able to move that force around.

Actually, if you look at the winning plan for last turn:

-[X] Sverd: 1st, 2nd, Jannis Hopeson, the 1st is loaned one of the 10ths Strike Cruisers and 3 escorts
The 1st was loaned one of their Strike Cruisers so 10th only have the 1 with a few extra escorts since they're still preoccupied with the newly-minted heretics.

[X] Plan Let's end it
-[X] Free Actions
--[X] Have Master of the Recruits and Reconnaissance Clin Boltson contact the Ecclesiarchy on Vanaheim and ask for their support in our deposition of the governor, as well as providing a calming voice while a new sector government is formed. He is authorized to accept or decline to exchange them a favor for their support in case he needs it. (basically like the forge world odin last turn, we get to vote if we give them a favor or not, dependent on how much of a favor they ask)
--[X] Have Chief Librarian Steffen Strangeson Look into Psyker Recruitment and Training solutions
--[X] Have Chapter Master Torvald Thunderson choose some of the best administrators in the ranks of the Avenging storm to join him and set up a temporary government for sector asgarids and especially sub-sector Odin and hive world Vanaheim. While making calls and sending messages to all planets in the sub-sectors to follow the Avenging storms lead in these dark times.
-[X] Deployment
--[X] Defence of Ragna (3rd Company, 8th company using Battle barge Void Thunderer)
--[X] Home Guard (5th company using 8th comapny strike cruiser to defend our homeworld and sector with battlefleet Asgardia following us)
--[X] Battlefleet Asgardia (use the major favor to call upon the battlefleet against the Lord Sector Sigurdr Reximus and his forces)
--[X] Reximus Rising (Torvald and his Honour Guard, Battle Barge Might of Storms, Battle Barge Unyielding Defiance, Battle Barge Ardent Storm, 4th company, 7th Company, 9th Company, 10th Company) objective is to arrest the lord sector Sigurdr Reximus under charges of treason, cowardice and incompetence in the handling of his duties as sector lord, take over control of the lord sector's position in preparation to either hand it over to another highborn or place one of our own and take control both sub sector Odin or at least the hive planet Vanaheim, battlefleet Odin and all former imperial forces present. Diplomacy is to be tried with all former imperial forces doing our damndest to try and convince who we can among the Vanaheim Valkyries, the PDF, and Battlefleet Odin to stay out of the fight, specially Battlefleet Odin, and to bring into the fold under the control of the Avenging Storm . However if unsuccessful then decapitation strikes are advised to try and minimize casualties and the lord sector must be arrested and then executed.

--[X] Distribute as much of the newly constructed Rhinos to the forces sent against the lord sector

Changed it a bit and used one of our free actions to help prepare our takeover dk how much it helps hope @Oshha when he wakes up comments on it. if people have suggestions to change the wording and the free actions I am up for it, like for example what @Lux27Rub suggestion of involving the Ecclesiarchy would it work if I mention it only in the action blurb or should I put it as another free action Oshha?

I am not changing the core of the plan since a lot of people voted for it because of that.

Also While we will have to take care of a lot of fires after the fact will it be that bad? Like wouldn't the different planet governors get the message after we dealt with lord sector Raximus our biggest rival, that you shouldn't mess with the local space marines chapter overtly and pledge loyalty to us?

Of the six sub-sectors, siff is under the control of the sisters of Battle, while Thor and Freya are under our control, so most of the problems will be taking place in the Odin, Buldur and loki sub-sectors. Buldur we already have our forces there that dealt with the jarl of Sverd and his pdf decisively and are now dealing with the situation in malmur, this can be taken as a message by the governors there and they will be wary of messing with us with a fleet and supposedly 2 space marine companies in the region, and if there is a problem I would think they would mostly be low level threat problem like what's happening with the warlords in blad something that can be taken care of with half of a company. the Odin subsector will be a problem since it's where the sector lord had consolidated his power but by that same token he would centralised most of it on Vanaheim, also it's where we have concentrated the greatest amount of ships and troops since we dealt with Galaborn, while some planet governors may be loyalists won't the rest be cowed by our show of force? as for Loki, unfortunately, it's mostly unknown since we didn't have any missions there as of yet and weren't able to send a diplomatic mission there beforehand.

[x] Plan No fighting in the War Room!

I feel like people are more interested in taking over the Sector for themselves than trying to actually set things up to protect it.

how much it helps hope @Oshha when he wakes up comments on it.
It is something that will help, but it is more running damage control and pre-emptive preparation.
it, like for example what @Lux27Rub suggestion of involving the Ecclesiarchy would it work if I mention it only in the action blurb or should I put it as another free action Oshha?
Either works, but giving its own full action would be more effective/powerful.

[X] Plan Let's end it

Sector lord hates us last we saw, he is spreading lies and slander about us, I have wanted to introduce him to our bolters for awhile now. So let's do it

Just an FYI, In Gunboat Diplomacy I have added another concession guaranteeing that if he accepts we'll come to his aid if seriously threatened by Xenos or Chaos and I am considering allowing him to keep the Overlord battlecruiser so the deal could be more palatable for him thus more likely to accept instead of leaving him with hardly much. But I'm not willing to commit to that last part just yet.

EDIT:

I do like everyone else here, but we haven't really took steps towards how to handle the fallout and seem to just be winging it. The GM already told us that if we just go ahead and do it without taking steps to ensure a smooth transition there's going to be more fires just when the Titan War seems like it's wrapping up unless the Steel Hunger makes a surprise comeback.

I understand your concern, but I'd rather have open flames than a slow poison to deal with. Especially since we have been having poor luck with rolls, and diplomacy and intrigue is what Reximus was trained for and experienced in.

I'd say our luck has been mixed. We got bad rolls at Gallaborn, Gunnerkrieg and Sverd, but we've got some pretty good rolls elsewhere like Jotunheim, Akar and even during our negotiations with FW Odin in order to get the deal for them to stay neutral.

And I'm not sure I agree with your sentiment since we can deal with him down the line or even just wait for him to die from natural causes. And we can still do stuff to counteract his efforts, he's been having success b/c we've done hardly much for diplomacy as much as it's been his own skills. And trust me, we do NOT want there to be several brushfires when the Titan War ends otherwise we're going to see entire worlds fall. I'd much rather deal with with this guy playing fuck-fuck games for a few decades instead of having the entire sector get plunged into Chaos b/c of a personal grudge.

Also, you say you don't want to take risk b/c of some bad rolls, when the whole thing with making Battlefleet Odin and the Vannaheim Valkyries stand down without a fight is going to entirely come down to luck and we've already had experience with people being too fanatically loyal to stand down against overwhelming odds. And even if we can crush them, there likely will be casualties which we can't really tolerate when shit is just about to hit the fan. The GM has been giving us some pretty big hints that this is going to cause problems if we just barge in swinging our dicks without any prep work. Arguably more than if we just tolerated the bastard.

Ok, not sure how you got that from my post. I said I don't want to risk playing to his strong suits, rather than ours. Please pay attention. And I'll grant you I was wrong about our rolls, they are mixed rather than poor, but that does not reassure me.
As to the rest, it's clear we are in complete disagreement about this so I'll just leave it at that.

The vote is pretty close and it involves a fairly major event in the quest so I'm not going to close the vote tonight. I'll let it run until sometime tomorrow.
