Renegade Chapter Master Quest (WH40k Quest)

[X] One hundred and thirty seven test slaves
-[X]Putting half our gene seed into test slaves means we can keep a good reserve, while still engaging in a exponetial growth(each generation of test slaves would be 133% the size of the last). The idea of test slaves is detestable and should be bellow sons of Gulliman but here, where only the astronomicans light reaches. Desperate measures must be prepared for, and should the gene tithe still be needed, the avenging storm can not be found lacking

Could we try to acquire Skitarii from the Admech to supplement our Astartes?

Instead of being focused on increasing our own power, it might be worth focusing on assembling a new Sector Command with those who've remained behind - us, the AdMech and the Sisters being who we've identified so far.

I agree, aiding expansion of Allies seems more effective.

Could we offer the SoB's a Base on our Recruitment Worlds?

They recruit the Gals and we recruit the Dudes?

We should offer the Order of the Sacred Storm the world Gunnerkreig, should be better then any noble, and give us a stronger SoB in the long run that is ally or under us

Not how that works normally.

Factions don't share worlds. They get them entirely to run as they see fit.

Its like asking the Mechanicus if we can recruit people from their Forge Worlds, they would never allow it.

Edit: Also this is more bookkeeping for Osha, which they explicitly said they wanted to avoid compared to other Chapter Master quests.

And Battlefleet Asgardia and the Vanaheim Valkyries once we take care of the Lord Sector next turn.

And as for the update, while the losses are painful, even when combined with the losses on Jotunhiem the number of Scouts becoming full marines is still higher so over all this turn has been a decided net positive even before accounting for the recovery of the 1st.

Yep, but it is a reminder to people who want to Legion build to temper their expectations.

Completely normal chapters fighting constant campaigns have issues even staying at half strength. We are alone and going to be constantly fighting. Any turn with positive growth is a lucky break and not the norm.

Especially when our recruitment numbers are shit.

We're going to need to cast a wider net somehow.

Given our geneseed stores outstrip our recruitment by an order of magnitude, I'm not seeing a great need for test slaves. That said... If we must do this, it's best to just do a big batch and then stop. Half assing it will lead to people just voting to do it again and again, and normalizing the behavior.

So I suggest we either go hard or not at all.

[X] None.

Edit: We might also want to start assigning two companies at once to things.

As long as we aren't bleeding more geneseed than we gain, as long as we continue fighting, we'll passively increase our numbers. The biggest blockage of most chapters isn't losses so much as is it a lack of aspirants and a lack of leeway with the codex.

Thanks to the foresight of the Chapter Master, Captain Karl Voidson brought a dozen tanks from the Armoury with him

Incidentally, I hope we're not going to get a situation like in a certain quest where the company 'forgets' to assign a tech marine or something because the players didn't think of it

[X] One Hundred-Fifty.

No stops of the heresy train brothers, hold fast

Also looking forward to rapid zygote maturation

Like, while the chapter itself doesn't know about the coming storms, we DO. While the test-slaves are distasteful by some metric, we shouldn't shy away from it. It's for the good of many after all! I am in no ways untrustworthy!

JUST AS PLANNED!

I really don't see why people are so obsessed with our geneseed, yes it's important, but we literally have ten times as much geneseed as we have recruits to put it in. We don't need to resort to test slaves, we need recruits.

The Adepta Sororitas recruit from the Schola Progenium aka the Imperial orphanages.

Gunnerkrieg isn't yours to offer. If anything, it is closer to the Sacred Storm's influence than anyone else so you are basically offering them one of their own worlds, which would backfire thanks to the implication of what you would do if they don't accept your offer to keep one of their own worlds.

That sort of minor detail will be handled in the background if the players don't do it themselves. I'm not going to punish the players for not doing optional bookkeeping and I'm not going to have the Storm Avengers be incompetent like that.

You already did that Jotunheim.

[X] 150 test-slaves

I don't see a reason not to go all in this turn. By handling this now we are in a position of strength to deal with losses for hopefully a very long time. We lost 40ish 43 marines this turn this is unsustainable attrition, we need to invest in training and recruitment.

@Oshha How many marines does it take to crew vehicles? Predators, Rhinos, etc.

We have a decent enough reserve of gene-seed to persist beyond short to maybe even mid term disasters but a reinforcement of that reserve could be useful long term. What we need now is more recruitment candidates that can survive until they become fully fledged battle brothers. That's where our focus should rest for now.

Yeah, as @DraftierDruid druid pointed out, better NOW where we have a low pool of aspirants, rather than later where that'll likely change. Right now, it's just sitting there doing nothing.
