Shattered Justice (A Persona Quest)

"...My room?" That's where they were until a few minutes ago, when you decided that not only were you actually going to do this thing, you'd bring everything you had. Even the things you don't know anything about. "Where else would I have them?"

Makoto-san takes a look at your spear, which is very much not the one you've been using and complaining about being hard to use. "I'm not sure that kind's for sale anywhere."

Probably not, if it just appeared in your dreams one night. You're not going to mention that part.

At least he's not looking at the ornament anymore. "Since when did we buy weapons legally?" Either you drag them out of Tartarus or... you never actually got around to asking where the others get weapons from.

It's probably not anything legal, though. No one in their right mind would sell weapons to high school students.

"There's- wait..." He pauses, like he's suddenly thinking of something. "...No, you have a point, actually."

You consider asking what he's thinking about, but decide against it.

Tonight will be bad enough without willingly walking into weirder stuff than necessary.

Even as you think that, the ornament weighs heavily on your head.

You see your opponents almost immediately. One is a small angelic knight figure that... did it tear apart a guardrail? Because that spear it's carrying looks like a guardrail. And also the guardrail right behind it has been ripped apart.

So. That's a thing.

The other Shadow is a golden mechanical creature with wings. You... think it might actually be a sphinx? It's hard to tell, because most depictions of mythological creatures aren't made of metal and flatter than a Maya that got on the wrong side of Aigis-san.

The angel Shadow notices you first, turning to reveal a familiar cross-shaped visor.

You weren't sure you were going to face it tonight, but these things come in pairs sometimes. You were well aware of the possibility.

You've never really liked the masks that Shadows of the Justice Arcana wear. Not that you've made a list of your preferred Shadow fashions, but at least some of the other masks are interesting.

Seeing this mask, all you can think is that you need to destroy the creature wearing it. Which is actually pretty normal, even if the general shape of the Shadow in question is... different.

You don't think you've ever had to fight an angel before.

Still... if this is anything like the varieties of angels that Makoto-san will occasionally summon, you suspect that Bless isn't going to work on it. So you'll need to use another element. You raise your Evoker. "Kala-Nemi! Psio!"

One of the things you've been kind of wondering about is how everyone will react to your new Persona. You had no idea what to expect, since this sort of thing doesn't come up often. You don't think Aigis-san even knows that someone's Persona can change. But whatever their reactions are, if they react at all, you don't focus on them. You're a bit busy trying to crush a mask that's still on a Shadow's face.

That part of it doesn't work out. Shadow masks are great for stabbing, not so much for breaking with the power of your mind. You'll have to remember that for later. Somehow, part of you expected more drastic results than that.

Koromaru barks, and the angel is sent spinning by a wave of darkness. A bit more impressive than what you managed to do.

This only reinforces the idea that Bless isn't going to work here. So what you have to work with is really just Psi and Zio.

From a different direction, a strong wind blows through the battlefield. You don't have to look to know it didn't come from Yukari-san or Morgana.

The sphinx has noticed you. It spreads its wings farther apart than you expected it could, and a circle of light starts to form between them.

...That can't be good.
