Remember we need to pacify it, how good is our force projection in our hinterland again might I remind that we also have to pacify the region, tell me how fond are you of the idea of conducting agaisnt a guerrilla war.
 
Who exactly rolled the 95 in battle? (I thought it was one of the 2 Ethiopian armies in their current civil war.) If so, what basis do we have to assume that a decisive victory for one of them is advantageous to us?
In the absence of other information, I would think that's the worst possible outcome of that battle for us, whereas we would prefer both sides to be locked in grinding attritional warfare with each other while leaving Ethiopia open to our forces.
In particular, I'm worried that a decisive victory for one side could be followed by rapidly rallying forces under their banner to fight the invaders (that is, us).

I feel like we're never gonna' get anywhere by waiting on the sidelines. You gotta' reach out and SNATCH that glory!

The Battle of Anchem was a historical battle in the Ethiopian succession crisis, the QMs have decided that now that they've hit start on the timeline to randomize events of importance to us. There is no reason to assume that a 95 is good for us.

We are not ready, at all. We've barely begun our reforms. We need to be honest.

Even if we mobilise our entire military we would still barely reach parity with the current active Ethiopian army - and I doubt we could even do that. Not to mention how foreign aggression is possibly one of the best way to create domestic unity against our action.
 
What is japan's position on the civil war? Worse case scenario they might consider Ethiopia over us if we head for a scenario where they have to pick a side.

I don't think hurting our buffer state would be a good idea. Plus I think while we can win battles maybe even the war we would lose the peace especially with our already bad ethnic division going on

Battle of Anchem - Wikipedia

I will admit that I know very little about the Ethiopian military, but when I was doing a bit of reading about this rebellion, I noticed it mentioned that the minister of defense, Mulugeta, had five cannons, seven machine guns, and aircrafts, while the rebels is said to have ten machine guns and two cannons.

I do not know how correct that information is or what quality these weapons had, but while we do not have any aircrafts, we do seem to have more machine guns and cannons, that the Ethiopians had in the Battle of Anchem.
