Feels a bit too much focus on the MC's OC blank past and not enough on the crew of the Nadesico who we're more told are 'quirky' rather than being shown that which I feel should had been the major appeal of this route.

Also the obvious trying to reign in the madness of the Nadesico being about as useful as throwing a person into a zombie horde and seeing them get infected and become another member of the mad crowd :\/

Seems like a nice all around custom unit to use.

[X] A man with killer sideburns has done his hair up in a way that reminds you of an obscure anime that you watched on a whim a few years ago. As he's wearing some kind of pilot suit, you assume he must be Jiro Yamada, one of the designated Aestivalis pilots.

I barely remember Nadesico but I remember this guy so I want to interact with him and hope to influence his fate or at least to bounce off of him since he's a fun character.

[x] There's a tall woman with long brown hair, brown eyes, an orange uniform, pink earrings, and an undershirt that she's parted to reveal quite a bit of cleavage. The description matches the one you were given of Minato Haruka, the helmsman of the Nadesico.

As for images I would recommend not using images for ants and uploading them to imgur first

I forgot if the Astervalis is good defensively. Don't want to pick the high defense option if that ends up gimping us in combat for a bit.
Edit: equipment vote added due to info.

Reveal your secrets, man of side burns (plus meeting one of fellow pilots is a good idea).

So, con-crit-wise, I feel like there's a couple of things. One is that scene transitions and paragraph breaks should be a little more prominent, as far as formatting goes. There were something like four separate scenes in the update, but it was difficult to tell where one ended and another began. Paragraph breaks and more physical description would help here. There was also a lot of short, utilitarian back-and-forth dialog that read more like a script than prose. This works well for television where acting and shot composition keep the eyes engaged, but it's difficult to follow in a text format. Consider summarizing expository dialog and investing more in describing the place and voices involved in the conversation, rather than detailing out everything in utilitarian dialog.

I believe our character is piloting a ReZel, which being a Federation mook unit is basically a chunk of tofu asking for flavor.

Aestivalises are light, dodgy units, but they're equipped with a pretty good barrier. Frankly I'd ask for a Distortion Field before I asked for armor, but 1) Nergal probably doesn't want to hand that tech off to a merc and 2) it's probably too much power draw for a Minovsky UCFR - Aesties use a wireless power transmission system to draw energy from their mothership.

Anyway

GAI DAIGOJI! demands our attention.

Alright gotcha. I just need a refresher. In that case I'll edit my vote for our extra equipment option.

Closing the vote now. I'm honestly surprised that Minato got the votes she did. Will have an update tomorrow evening.

Combat mechanics
So, here's how combat's going to work: most things that occur will be narrative, red shirts will die, enemy mooks will die, and anything that you can obviously overpower with little effort will get destroyed one shot.

Whenever you attack or clash with a powerful enemy, or try to do something complicated, I will roll dice. I will generally roll a d10 for a basic attack (beam rifle, missiles, sword attack, etc.) and powerful attacks may have me roll multiple d10 (Stoner Sunshine, Choudenji Spin, etc.).

HP will only be tracked for your units, the health of powerful enemies will be determined by the narrative.

Generally, I will roll to hit, and then deal damage if you beat the DC. Damage dealt depends on how much you exceed the DC by, unless you're using an attack that is supposed to be really powerful, and it's reasonable to assume that you can expect to do a lot of damage in that instance. Sometimes I may roll to hit, and then roll against armor or other things to mitigate damage, but this will only happen if the plot warrants it (you're trying to get past a Distortion field, the enemy unit has super tough armor, etc.) Even if you don't beat the armor DC in this case, you will still deal damage, just not very much.

To keep things simple and discourage min-maxing and munchkining, there will only be one permanent attributes related to pilots: Ability. Ability will be used for all offensive maneuvers, representing a pilot's ability to aim, do melee combat, etc, and used in defensive actions to represent a pilot's ability and reflexes to either avoid a hit, or take a hit while mitigating the worst of it.

One thing that can augment certain things in combat drastically, and a staple of the SRW series is spirit commands. Spirit commands can make or break a battle depending on how well they're used.

Example spirit commands:
Focus-Raise Ability by 30% for the current round of combat
Alert-The next enemy attack directed at this unit will automatically miss
Guard-Reduce any damage taken to 1/3 of the original amount for the current round of combat
Persist-Reduce the next instance of damage taken by this unit this round of combat to 100
Strike-The next attack against an enemy will automatically hit, instead roll will be for damage
Valor-Double all attack rolls on a successful attack, this will increase damage dealt in the narrative substantially
Soul-Multiply all attack rolls by 2.5 on a successful attack, will generally be available either as a direct upgrade to Valor, or only usable when something emotional happens
Fury-Ignore any special defenses the enemy has on your next attack this round of combat (only Ability, armor/mobility of the enemy unit, and environmental factors will contribute to the DC of their defense)
Scan-Reveal narrative weaknesses of a powerful enemy, if weakness is already revealed, -1 to all rolls that enemy makes and their defense DC for the current round of combat
Trust-Restore HP of an allied unit by 2000
Faith-Fully restore the HP of an allied unit
Foresee- Grant the effect of Alert to an allied unit
Love-Gain the effects of Focus, Strike, Alert, Persist, and Valor. Can only be used by a pilot currently in a loving relationship with a significant other, or with a deep familial bond with someone

Spirit commands can generally only be used once per combat, and only once per round (as much as I love chaining together Strike, Alert, and Valor together in J or 30, this would wreck balance here)

One last thing that affects combat is Will.

Will starts at 5 for every allied unit that deploys. Generally, Will goes up by 1 when the following things happen: an enemy unit is destroyed, an allied unit dodges a powerful attack, an allied unit takes damage, the next round of combat starts. Will cannot go below 0.

Will has a maximum value of 10, though certain pilot abilities can bump it up to 12. Certain weapons/abilities may only be available at certain will thresholds, generally starting at 8. Also, Will values above 5 will confer a bonus to all rolls and defense DC equal to the amount above 5 it is, so a Will of 6 will give a +1 bonus, a Will of 7 a bonus of +2, and so on. Conversely, Will values below 5 will confer a penalty to all rolls and defense DC, so a Will value of 4 will give a -1 penalty, and so on. However, outside of narrative events, your units will generally only lose Will when an allied unit is shot down.

These combat mechanics are tentative, and may be subject to change if people don't like certain aspects of it or think it gets in the way of enjoying the quest.

---------------

March UE 0083
Nergal Drydock control center

You approach the man with impressive sideburns. His description matches the one you were given of Jiro Yamada, one of the designated Aestivalis pilots. He's wearing a blue pilot suit and surveying his surroundings with an almost giddy air. As you walk over to him, you feel someone clasp your hand for an instant. You look to your side and see Ruri walking away quickly. You realize she put a sticky note into your hand, and bring it up to read it. It simply says "humor ihn" in hastily scrawled German.

Humor him? You think to yourself in confusion. You don't have any time to contemplate this, as Jiro Yamada notices you walking toward him and moves to meet you. You quickly crumple the sticky note and drop it behind you. Jiro has an incredibly eager look on his face.

"Ah, so nice to meet the Silver Bulwark in person! As a fellow fighter for Justice, I look forward to working together with you!" Jiro shakes your hand. You hesitatingly reciprocate his handshake, unsure of what make of this.
"A pleasure to meet you too, Mr. Yamada, though I insist you don't call me-" You are interrupted as Jiro Yamada physically recoils before pumping his fists.
"Do not call me by that name! I insist that you call me GAI DAIGOUJI, THE NAME OF MY SOUL!" He yells the last half of his reply with such passion (and volume) while posing that you can't help but take a step back. You're momentarily left at a loss for words, while you notice several other people either cringe, face palm, or roll their eyes. Now you understand what Ruri meant when she said 'humor him'. It takes a few seconds for you to formulate a response.

"Okay Ji-er, Gai. Is it okay if I call you Gai? I'll call you by the name of your soul-" You cringe internally at saying that bit out loud "-if you don't call me The Silver Bulwark." Gai Daigouji gasps.
"But why would you not want to be referred to by your title? Did you not earn it fighting in the name of Freedom and Justice against the most detestable Titans and Neo-Zeon? Do you shun the honor that your title bestows upon you?" Gai asks you, disbelief plain to see in his eyes while he gesticulates wildly. You sigh melancholically.
"That 'title' wasn't something that I chose for myself. It was something that others put on me as a label. I felt like I had the expectations of, well, not the entire fleet, but certainly more than what I had to deal with before on my shoulders, and I didn't like that. Especially not after what happened during the Axis Drop." You look down at the floor, a sense of shame you thought you had put behind you creeping back in. Gai stares at you, an oddly contemplative look on his face. After a few seconds, his expression unexpectedly brightens.
"Ah, I see! You are humble indeed, I would have expected nothing less from a decorated pilot of Justice. Very well, as you desire, I will only refer to you by your preferred name. Ah, forgive me, what was your name again?" Gai extends his hand with an embarrassed expression on his face.
"Mira. Mira Ayana." You shake Gai's hand.
"Very well Miss Ayana-san. May this be the start of a long and fruitful partnership in the name of Freedom and Justice!" Gai crows enthusiastically. You can't help but smile.

-------------------
The rest of the meeting goes without much of note happening, although you only really have time to get acquainted with Minato Haruka, the helm officer of the Nadesico before an alarm starts sounding.

"An unknown enemy is attacking the facility. All bridge crew of the Nadesico, report to the combat command center immediately. I repeat, all bridge crew report to the combat command center." An announcement blares over the PA.

You and the rest of the bridge crew make their way onboard the Nadesico and head to bridge as fast as you can. Ruri pulls up a tactical map as soon as everyone is relatively situated.

"It appears the enemy is concentrating their attack directly above our position. The enemy machines appear to be autonomous drones, and they're unlike anything we've seen before." Ruri pulls up a live video feed. The enemy units in question are spindly, insectoid looking machines. They appear to be able to separate into two components: one is a red machine resembling a gigantic ant that is clearly meant for ground combat, and the other is a yellow, grasshopper like machine that flies. The grasshoppers appear to pick up the ant robots when they need more firepower in the air.

MASS COMBAT BETWEEN DRYDOCK DEFENSE FORCES AND GRASSHOPPERS
Friendly forces:
Hizack Squad x5
Guncannon Squad x2
Guntank II Squad x2

Initial wave of enemy forces:
Grasshopper group x 15

Opening Salvo, all friendly forces fire at will, AA batteries open fire
9d10 + 4 Ability (Hizacks) + 1 Ability (Guncannons) + 1 Ability (Guntank II squads) + 2 (AA guns)
Roll 2, 6, 2, 3, 9, 5, 8, 7, 8
50+4+1+1+2=58

Grasshoppers return fire
15d10 + 2 Ability (Grasshopper AI)
Roll 8, 1, 1, 5, 2, 2, 3, 8, 8, 8, 4, 2, 6, 4, 3
65+2=67

Result: The Initial wave of Grasshoppers takes some losses, but the defense force is decimated by the opening salvo

---------------------
What the video feed shows isn't promising. Although the drydock defense force's opening salvo takes out a large portion of the Grasshopper like robots, their return salvo of missiles and what appear to be some kind of laser weapon devastate them in return. Both Guncannon squads and a Guntank II squad disappear in a hail of missiles, and the other Guntank II squad is carved apart by laser cannons. The Hizacks don't fare much better, with three out of the five squads having also been destroyed by missiles. You suspect the remaining two squads of Hizacks haven't been destroyed yet because they're closer to the drydock's anti-air guns, which are doing a reasonable job of keeping the Grasshoppers and their ordnance away from them. Ruri turns to Yurika.

"Captain, orders?" Ruri asks.
"We'll launch through the underwater dock into the ocean. Once there, we'll emerge behind the enemy and neutralize them!" Yurika responds, not a hint of the lovestruck romantic you saw earlier in sight.
"And that's where I come in! I'll deploy in a robot and lure them further inland. In the meantime, the Nadesico can launch!" Gai Daigouji says enthusiastically.
"You can't, you blew out half the joints in your Aestivalis with that dance routine you did down in the hangar before the meeting, remember?" Uribitake grumbles.
"Oh no!" Gai yelps as he remembers what Uribitake is talking about.
"A decoy is already launching, there's another robot ascending in the elevator." Ruri suddenly speaks up.
"Eh?!" Everyone else present except you does a double take.
Megumi immediately opens a line with the Aestivalis in the elevator. The viewscreen pops to life, and you're greeted by a youthful young man with spiky brown hair wearing brown eyes wearing an orange button up shirt. He's not wearing any semblance of pilot gear as far as you can tell.
"Who the hell are you?! State your name and position!" You bark at the unknown pilot.
"Akito Tenkawa, cook!" He says. Yurika immediately perks up at that.
"Akito! It's Akito! It's been so long. It's really you, Akito! Why did you pretend not to know me? I get it! You're still the same shy boy I used to know." Yurika doesn't give Akito a chance to respond, even as his expression becomes more bewildered.
"Hey, wait just one second! What are you doing there anyway?" Akito finally manages to get a word in edgewise.
"She's the Captain of the Nadesico." Mr. Prospector explains. Akito gives a surprised yelp.
"That's right! Ms. Yurika Misumaru is the captain of the Nadesico!" Yurika exclaims triumphantly.
"H-Hey Yurika, who is that person anyway?" Jun asks in befuddlement.
"Well, he's my prince in shining armor. Akito always comes to my aid whenever I'm in trouble." Yurika says while blushing. Dear god, you can already feel your brain cells dying.
"I can't let you act as a decoy against the enemy, but I know how you are once you've made up you mind. I suppose the words of a passionate woman won't stop you." Yurika continues gushing. Yep, you definitely feel your braincells dying.
"Hey wait, what's this about a decoy?!" Akito says in alarm.
"I understand. I'll trust you with the fate of the Nadesico and all her crew. Make sure you come back alive!" Yurika then closes her end of the call. You barely have any time to comprehend what just happened before you make a snap decision.
"Scheiße! I'm going up in the ReZel!" You say.
"But why? My darling Akito will surely be able to protect us!" Yurika twirls around before throwing her arms out like some fairytale princess.
"Against THAT many? Akito's not even a pilot, he's a cook! How do we know he's not just going to fall flat on his face the moment he's deployed?" You counter, perhaps a bit more venomously than you intended. Mr. Prospector clears his throat.
"The Aestivalis uses IFS nanomachines as part of its control interface. Mr. Tenkawa has received these nanomachines in the past, so controlling the machine should be quite intuitive for him." Mr. Prospector explains while pushing up his glasses.
"Even so, I don't think it's a good idea to leave him alone up there." Yurika smiles at your words.
"I understand, please protect my darling Akito out there Ms. Ayana, and make sure he comes back safely!" You resist the urge to scoff at such a sappy declaration.
You leave the bridge and make a mad dash for the hangar.
--------------------
You boot up the ReZel custom and are pleased to see that, true to his word, Uribitake managed to integrate the Megaparticle Cannon into the structure of the ReZel without compromising its ability to enter Waverider form. As the elevator you're taking nears the surface, the other members of the bridge crew contact you.

"Elevator slowing, you're almost near the surface." Ruri says.
"Good luck out there girl!" Minato encourages you.
"Mr. Tenkawa has already deployed and is leading part of the enemy force away from the ship. We only need another ten minutes." A heavy set man you haven't seen before addresses you.
You respond by sketching a salute just as the elevator reaches the surface.

START OF COMBAT TURN 1

You immediately jump before shifting into Waverider mode. A pair of yellow grasshoppers combine with a pair of ants to pursue you. You fire the ReZel's beam rifle into a Grasshopper in your way, immolating it. You destroy another Grasshopper, and then two more before the combined Grasshoppers pursuing you fire on you.

MIRA AYANA VS GRASSHOPPERS
Grasshoppers fire at Mira
Mobility DC 10-6 Ability + 4 ReZel mobility
Roll 1d10 twice + 2 GrassHopper AI
1, 1 = 3, 3

Mira returns fire at the Grasshoppers
Mobility DC 4-2 Ability (GrassHopper AI) + 2 mobility
Roll 1d10 twice (one for attacking each GrassHopper) + 6 Ability
4, 9, = 10, 15

Result: Mira's ReZel takes no damage, Grasshoppers are destroyed.

Dodging out of the laser cannons that one of the Grasshoppers fire is trivially easy; they telegraph where they're aiming so obviously. It's also trivial to shoot down the missile salvo the other GrassHopper fires at you with the ReZel's head mounted Vulcan Cannons after shifting out of WaveRider form. You retaliate by firing your wrist mounted grenade launchers at one of the GrassHoppers before drawing a beam saber and hacking the other in two. You don't bother checking on the other one, and a second later the blip of an explosion shows up on your sensors, signaling the death of the Grasshopper you had fired your grenade launcher at. You grimace at the sight of another wave of GrassHoppers descending on the drydock facility before hefting the Megaparticle cannon. You take a moment to align the targeting reticle with the largest concentration of the enemy machines you can see before firing.

Mira Ayana uses a MAP attack-Megaparticle Cannon
Automatic hit on all enemies in area of effect (tutorial + enemy is dumb as bricks)
Roll for enemy concentration-1d6
Roll: 5
A large number of enemy units are destroyed!

The GrassHoppers have made the decision to bunch together in the air. Their loss, you think to yourself as the Megaparticle cannon roars, slagging a large number of the automated machines. Suddenly, Akito breaks into the comms with a strangled yell, and you turn to see his magenta Aestivalis in midair, pulling GrassHoppers down with wire guided fists and either slamming them into each other or throwing them into the path of a missile salvo. You're honestly impressed that he's lasted this long, looks like Mr. Prospector was right about the IFS control systems being largely intuitive. You're brought out of your observations when you see a disturbance in the water. You quickly realize that it's the Nadesico rising out of the ocean. You glance at the countdown timer, there's still seven minutes left on the clock. Akito's Aestivalis touches down on top of the Nadesico. Your ReZel custom joins him a few seconds later.

"Sorry to keep you waiting Akito!" Yurika chirps.
"What do you mean? It hasn't been ten minutes yet." He asks in confusion.
"I rushed for your sake darling!" Yurika replies cheerfully.
"All remaining enemies have entered our effective field of fire." Ruri reports.
"Target all the enemies we can reach! Gravity Blast, fire!" Yurika orders.

What the Nadesico fires isn't a beam, you can tell that much for certain. However, you can still see the area of effect by the way the dust and air seem to distort, in addition to all of the GrassHoppers looking like they're being crushed by an invisible press before exploding.

"Impressive." You say to no one in particular. Yurika opens a comm channel to Akito and is about to say something, but Ruri speaks up in alarm.

"Electromagnetic and gravitational distortions detected! They're occurring 900 meters directly in front of us!" For once in the short time you've known Ruri Hoshino, she sounds genuinely alarmed. You quickly spot the anomalies in question in the distance. It looks like a green and white sphere of light has formed, and is rapidly expanding. The sphere reaches a diameter of around 80 meters before it suddenly stops expanding and seems to shatter, producing a blinding light. Your display momentarily dims, and when it clears, something else has taken its place.

A/N: And here's the introduction to combat! Don't worry, I won't kill you during the tutorial, this is just to make things interesting, introduce the Original Generation enemies, and provide foreshadowing! I'll update the character sheet with stats shortly. Also, like always, constructive criticism is welcome.

[X] Steadfast

While our spirits are better for attacking or evading we're the Silver Bulwark so this feels like the 'cool' option fitting that name

[X] Evasive Action

Well, whoever these guys are, we're a realtype kitted out for dodging. Probably they won't line up as nicely as the Grasshoppers did for our and Yurika's MAP weapons to clear the map in one round, but we can at least draw them off and give the Gravity Blast time to recharge.

"Very well Miss Ayana-san. May this be the start of a long and fruitful partnership in the name of Freedom and Justice!" Gai crows enthusiastically. You can't help but smile.
Huh, despite being a loud meathead he DOES have some social grace. That conversation went pretty well all things considered.

Yikes, looks we got a big party happening. At least backup is on the way.

[X] Steadfast

On one hand evasion is the smart play, on the other hand this is the cooler option and plus this the tutorial battle anyways.

I'm somewhat annoyed that it took me this long to find this.

[X] Evasive Action

I've talked myself into this, may as well go all in and hope for the best.

You are Aoba Watase, and you have recently married the love of your life, Hina Yumihara. The two of you recently had settled into your new home, when suddenly, a flash of memories you never knew you had forgotten come rushing back to you. You remember being stuck in a time loop for what seemed like eternity along with Hina before a group of powerful allies intervened and freed you from a cursed existence. You remember fighting against an evil unlike anything you had ever encountered. Most important of all, you remember your dear friend Dio, who you and Hina were forced to leave behind when you and Hina returned to your own time. But why are remembering now? Your allies had assured you that because of the nature of the time loop you had been trapped in, it would have been protected from any interdimensional tomfoolery once you, Hina, and Dio went back to your proper times, and nothing short of the destruction of all multiverses in existence would have affected it.

Hina comes rushing into the room. Looks like she remembers now too. Before the two of you can discuss the implications, you both remember something.

"Well, they never did call in that favor we owed them before we went back." You say with a bittersweet laugh. Hina nods in understanding.
"That makes sense, it would be the only way to come and go from our dimension after the time loop was broken." Hina looks at you with an expression of fear. "But if that favor is being invoked now..."

You immediately grasp the implications.
"It means they lost. We're not really in a position to complain about being pulled back in, if only temporarily, but how are we going to get there?" Your question is immediately answered as you and Hina are surrounded by a golden light. "Well, that answers that question. I guess they'll use that thing to brief us before we get there. Hey, I just realized the one good thing that we can get out this! We can see Dio again!" You perk up as you see a silver lining to your current situation. Hina smiles.
"I suppose there is that. We never really did get to say goodbye to him properly, did we?" She muses.
"Well, let's try to give him proper closure this time after we take care of things. And we can tell him the good news!" You almost forget your situation for a second.
"Yes, let's do that." Hina gives an even deeper smile.
You and your wife embrace as the golden light transports you to another dimension.

March UE 0083
Coastline of Sasebo, Nagasaki Prefecture

You're staring down a massive Super Robot and an army of machines that look similar to mobile suits, but don't match any known designs. The Super Robot is easily 35 meters tall. It's shoulders, shins, and wrists are blocky and aesthetically brutalist, a sharp contrast to, well...every other part of its body, which is sleek and curved. There is a massive horn on its head, a pair of golden-brown eyes, and some kind of facemask where its 'mouth' would be that resembles the lower half of a medieval faceplate. It's jet black with dark green highlights. The smaller mechs are 18 meters tall exactly, and all of them are brandishing what you assume to be some kind of beam rifle, given that you don't see anything resembling a magazine or clip. Like the Super Robot, their shoulders, wrists, and shins are blocky, while the rest of their bodies are curved and sleek, and they also have the same color scheme. Their heads appear to encased in a fishbowl style 'helmet' with the only otherwise distinguishable feature being a pair of orange eyes. You count 20 of the smaller mechs, and the Super Robot bumps their number up to 21.

And they all seem to be staring at you.

The Super Robot raises its right hand in some kind of command gesture, and the smaller mechs raise their beam rifles.

"Akito, get inside the ship, now." You say with as much urgency as you can muster.
"But what about you?!" Akito sputters.
"I'm about to do something stupid." You reply.

You immediately jump off the Nadesico and transform the ReZel into WaveRider form. You peel off and head starboard of the Nadesico at maximum speed, and all of the unknown mechs turn to pursue you.

"Captain Misumaru, can you fire the Gravity Blast again?" You open a line to the Nadesico.
"Unfortunately not, the Phase Transition Engine can't recharge very quickly at low altitudes like this! We do have missiles though, we'll give you covering fire! Minato, bring us around to pursue the unknowns, Ruri, get me a firing solution!" Yurika chirps.

You grit your teeth as the smaller unknowns start to catch up to you. As they get close, you shift out of WaveRider mode in anticipation of close combat. The closest three fire on you, and you respond.

Mobility DC 13 = 6 Ability + 4 Mobility + 2 FOCUS + 1 (Will 6)

Beam Rifle salvo-Roll 3 dice
1d10 + 5 Ability
6, 9, 2 = 11, 14, 7

Mira returns fire with her beam rifle
Mobility DC 9 = 5 Ability + 4 Mobility
1d10 + 6 Ability + 2 FOCUS + 1 (Will 6)
5 = 14

Result: Mira takes minor damage (3500/4000 hp) and destroys an enemy machine in retaliation

You barely manage to avoid the first beam round, which almost takes you directly into the path of the second one. You manage to juke out of the way, turning what would have been a direct hit into a graze along the left side of the ReZel's torso. You retaliate with a shot from your beam rifle, which strikes the lead unknown dead center and cores it. The unknown machine trails smoke and flames before exploding in a flash of green and black plasma. The Nadesico trails behind and fires a salvo of missiles, but the distance you've traveled to distract the unknowns means they're being launched from long range. As a result, most of the missiles are either shot down or dodged, only managing to destroy one unknown. You barely have enough time to consider your next move before the Super Robot bull-rushes you.

Unknown Super Robot vs ReZel
Unknown Super Robot uses melee flurry
Unknown Pilot Skill Attack Again!
Mobility DC 14 = 6 Ability + 4 Mobility + 2 Focus + 2 (Will 7)

Melee Flurry-Roll 2 dice
Attack Again-Roll 2 dice
2d10 + 8 Ability
Mira uses ALERT
6, 5 = 14, 13
8, 8 = 16, 16

Mira attacks with Megaparticle Cannon
Armor DC 14 = 8 Ability + 6 Armor
1d10 + 6 Ability + 2 FOCUS + 2 (Will 7)
4 = 14

Result: The ReZel takes severe damage (10/4000 hp)
The Unknown Super Robot takes minimal damage

You dodge the first punch it swings, then the second and third. You shift to WaveRider form after you see an opening to gain some distance before unfurling the Megaparticle cannon and firing. The hit is dead on, but when the light fades, you're dismayed to see only minor scorch marks on its left wrist. The Super Robot rushes at you again, and you realize you underestimated its acceleration. You cannot evade its fists this time, it closed the gap too quickly for you to do anything more than ready the ReZel's shield. The first blow takes off the Rezel's left arm, the second taking off the right leg, and the third nearly caving in the cockpit block, only turned into a glancing blow by a last second maneuver. Even so, the force of impact almost causes you to hit your head against the main console, and you feel blood coming out of your nose after a few seconds. You can barely keep the ReZel afloat, and you're helpless as the unknown winds up another punch to finish you.

Surprise attack! Kenji Kusanagi attacks!

Tsubaki Tamashiro uses SCAN
Kenji uses FOCUS
Kenji, piloting Steel Jeeg, attacks the Unknown with Jeeg Bazooka
Armor DC 14 = 8 Ability + 6 Armor
2d10 + 5 Ability + 2 FOCUS + 5 (surprise attack on a stationary target)
5, 9 = 15, 19

Result: The Unknown takes Moderate damage

"Kenji, aim for the lower abdomen!" You hear a youthful female voice shout over an open channel.
"Got it Tsubaki, Jeeg Bazooka, fire!" You hear another youthful voice, this one male.

A split second later, an explosive shell of some kind slams into the unknown Super Robot, detonating with great force. When the smoke clears, it's clear that the Unknown Super Robot is worse for wear, with a large crack running up the right side of its torso. You look in the direction of that the shell came from, and although your rangefinder is damaged you can clearly see some kind of Super Robot in the distance, an enormous cannon in place of its right arm, presumably the Jeeg Bazooka that was fired. The Unknown is clearly unhappy at being interrupted, and begins to move over to this friendly Super Robot when something even weirder happens.

A bright light shines in the sky above the battlefield, coalescing into a gold orb.

"Captain, some kind of...singularity has formed above us." Ruri says, not sure what to make of what's going on.

Before Yurika can give any orders, the singularity dissipates, and in its place are four machines. One of them is bright blue with white accents and blue wings of light, one is red with white accents and red wings of light, and another is black with red accents and pink wings of light. All three look similar to mobile suits, but the IFF data you're receiving says they're...Valiancers? Apparently, the blue on is Luxon NEXT, the red one is Bradyon NEXT, and the black one is Karura. The fourth machine is clearly some kind of Super Robot, with a red color scheme, human looking face, what appear to be a pair of jet turbines in its chest, and a flaming mane of some kind. The IFF for THAT one says it's called Godannar.

The pilot of Godannar opens a video link with you, and the first thing you notice about the pilot is his chin.

"You! Are you Mira Ayana?" He asks with a tone of urgency.
"Yes, why-"
"Withdraw immediately! We'll take care of these guys, just go! You have to survive!" The pilot of Godannar urges you. With your machine in such a dismal state, you see no reason to argue. The Unknown Super Robot and a few of its cronies move to stop you, but all four of the newly arrived machines intervene.

Mass Combat: Valiancer Trio and Godannar vs Unknowns

The Valiancer Trio use a stunt: Unisolize Combat
Aoba uses SOUL
Dio uses STRIKE
Due to Coupling, STRIKE is shared with Aoba
Hina uses LOVE

vs Unknown mobile weapon horde (minus the Super Robot)
All three pilots auto hit due to STRIKE, roll will be for damage
Damage Reduction 9 = 5 Ability + 4 Armor
3d20 + 12 Ability + 4 FOCUS + 5 (10 Will)
6, 10, 11 = 27 * 2.5, 31, 32 * 2
68, 31, 64

Godonnar vs Unknown Super Robot
Godonnar uses a stunt: Heart Breaker into Soul Breaker
Goh uses VALOR
Anna uses STRIKE
Auto hit due to STRIKE, roll will be for damage
Damage Reduction 14 = 8 Ability vs 6 Armor
2d20 + 12 Ability + 5 (10 Will)
11, 20 = 28*2, 37 *2
56, 74

Result: Unknowns are utterly destroyed

"Connective Hina!"
"Connective Aoba!"
"Connective Dio!"
"Acception!" "Acception!" "Acception!"

The Valiancers move first, and immediately become streaks of blue, red, and pink. The Luxon NEXT and Bradyon NEXT fire beam rifles of some kind and brandish what appear to be heat blades as the opposition is essentially helpless to do anything about it, while the Karura fires its beam rifle and turns it into some kind beam scythe to deal with anything that gets too close, all three of them also opting to simply ram the enemy at high speed whenever it suits them. The last mobile suit sized mech charges the Luxon NEXT, and the trio responds by grouping up and simultaneously firing their beam rifles at it, utterly vaporizing the Unknown.

The Unknown Super Robot moves toward the Valiancers, but Godannar intercepts it and begins to grapple with it. The Unknown seems to be getting frustrated, as it flails about in an attempt to land a good hit. Godonnar responds by throwing a vicious uppercut before taking a pose.

"Let's do it Anna!" Goh yells.
"Right! Heart Breaker!" Anna responds.

Godannar charges at the Unknown before punching it in the chest, embedding its fist within the enemy's torso. The black gauntlet on its first moves back and forth as an unseen firing mechanism goes off, and a brown liquid spills out of the newly made hole. Godonnar then takes its fist out before taking to the air, its flaming mane trailing a line of red.

"Time to finish this, SOUL BREAKER!" Goh yells as the Godannar performs a diving kick straight out of an old school tokusatsu show. The Godannar crashes through the Unknown Super Robot, obliterating the upper torso and causing the rest to explode as it falls into the ocean. Godannar itself skids into another pose before its flaming mane goes out, then numerous vents around its body open up and release copious amounts of coolant and steam.

"Looks like we've managed to keep things under control for now. Good luck Mira." Goh says. Godannar salutes you as you limp back toward the Nadesico. You spare a glance over toward the Valiancers, and they seem to be...embracing each other.

"Captain, we're receiving a data file from the Luxon NEXT." Megumi says to Yurika, a quizzical look on her face.
"What does it say?" Yurika asks.
"Unknown, it's heavily encrypted. At the very least, it doesn't seem to be malicious. Wait a minute, there is one part we can read. 'For Mira Ayana's eyes only'. Well, that's not helpful." Ruri responds.

Before anyone can ask the Valiancer pilots or Godannar's pilots for clarification, the singularity appears again, and the four machines float toward it. The Luxon NEXT and Karura are in a romantic embrace while clasping hands with the Bradyon NEXT, and Godannar is making no effort to resist being pulled in. Before you know it, they've entered the singularity, which vanishes immediately.

You barely make back onto the Nadesico without passing out, and in fact you start to lose consciousness as soon as you open your cockpit. The last thing you see before everything goes black is a medical stretcher being wheeled toward you after you take off your helmet.

Results:
Two new, unknown enemies have become public knowledge: The Grasshopper robots and true Unknowns
There is a heavily encrypted file in the Nadesico's computer that is addressed specifically to you
Kenji Kusanagi, Tsubaki Tamashiro, and the Build Angel team have joined the Nadesico
Akito Tenkawa has gained some self-confidence
Gai Daigouji has a good impression of you

A/N: And here's the rest of the turn's combat! I know it seems a bit rushed, but I wanted to get things done so I can move on the next part of the Nadesico plot, and introduce something new, you didn't think you were going to have the ReZel for very long, did you? Also, I hope I did the Buddy Complex and Godannar characters justice with what little I did, any constructive criticism is appreciated!

Anyway, now I sleep, I had to stay past 1 am to complete this update.

I don't know any of these properties besides Nadesico! And I guess I know Godannar's premise. But exciting enough combat.
