Dungeon Crawler You!

Okay hear me out: in terms of comparative advantage we're pretty good against flying mobs. We have a gravity-defying skateboard, a magic yo-yo, and plenty of mundane ranged weaponry. Any ol' crawler can grab a 2x4 and smack a slime or something, but there should be more of these guys left than anything else.
The gravity-defying skateboard only works when within 3 feet of a surface to orient towards. So if the snakes have open sky with no wall for our teen to drive up on, that negates it.

Is that a thing that happens in the dungeon? Open skies with no walls?

I was under the impression that we'd mostly just find high ceilings which Calliope would have no trouble reaching.

Yeah, open sky is the wrong way to put it, sorry.
Corrected:
A ceiling high enough that the snakes can fly low enough to avoid Calliope. With no walls close enough for calliope to ride and hit from.

Plus Taylor might be a bit extra tense about the ceiling option after the incident during "Chapter 4: Unboxing".

If Drew can manipulate smoke without needing to breathe it, there would be an option that might work and is only doable for groups with a lvl 5+ smoke control spell:
  1. make a pile of garbage
  2. add a bit of fuel, use a torch to light it on fire
  3. have Drew control the smoke to surround the head of the snakes
  4. enjoy carbon monoxide poisoned snake

  • Is the Safe room food infinite? Can it be put into storage? If both yes, take as much as you can without getting into trouble
  • Consider the possibilities:
    • that you find a group of people cut of from food sources and you want to give them some (as donations or trade)
    • that future safe rooms could have barely edible food (intentionally disgusting like a game show, alien without care for human needs and so on)
    • that future safe rooms could be blocked of to you by being camped by hostile players (imagine bigger gang of confederates)
    • that future floors could take a year or longer, the alien that warned you said that each would get longer, who knows how extreme it gets by floor 10+
      • you may need a big food store from each safe room to not get stuck eating the same food every day for a year
I'm using meta knowledge from reading DCC to say that food availability is not going to be a problem in the Dungeon. There are little gnomes that cook for crawlers in most saferooms. On floor 4 (in a couple weeks) they'll be allowed to buy their own kitchen for their personal space. They also all have 100+ crawler biscuits already and it's one of the more common minor rewards from Bronze Adventurer boxes. It's just not really worth worrying about.

If they see some of their favorite foods they should probably load up though. Many Bopca (gnome) restaurants are basically fast food places grabbed from the surface whole.

  • Inventory everything that can be inventoried unless abundant or presents significant social benefit untaken (e.g. signposts, tacos)
    • If things are abundant, inventory some instead of all. Like at least 10.
  • Monsters
    • Parts can be used as weapons by group, lures, or burnt as lure/poison smoke and stored.
    • (When not endangering others) Try luring a monster into toilet and see if it explodes and awards XP/lootboxes
  • Drew's Smokeform
    • Burn plastics for poisonous smoke and kruthaks for pheromone smoke to be stored in plastic bags
      • Test if we can separately uninventory container and smoke
    • Test if kruthak smoke in kruthak form confuses kruthaks
    • Send decoys ahead to lure out assassins
    • Concentrate smoke on enemies' heads
  • Taylor's yoyo
    • Grappling hook/crane through spatial lock and string length manipulation
    • Throw into monster's mouth or charging monster, activate spatial lock
    • Throw Yo-Yo so the string goes around enemy. Then tie other end of string to yoyo and reduce string length.
    • Yo-Yo string as indestructible rope.
    • Tie the string around something heavy, and use Yo-Yo summon to pull it.
  • Calliope's skateboard
    • Go to ceiling, uninventory heavy objects to fall on enemies
    • test if poison immunity extends to carbon monoxide/weed poisoning (skateboard through smoke, Levi supervision or potions on-hand)
      • if it works, she can go into Drew's smoke to beat up enemies/wield smokebombs
  • Moose
    • Good nose, could warn if enemies approach or track enemies. Could share sensory information at LV10.
  • Offer to exchange basic knowledge on unique effects of our lootbox items with the large group
    • If it synergizes well, could consider teaming up with the individual for a while or trade for the item
  • With this newfound munchkin knowledge, go out there and kill all the monsters.

Burn plastics for poisonous smoke and kruthaks for pheromone smoke to be stored in airtight containers
What airtight container might Taylor plausibly have and how would you get meaningful amounts of smoke into it?
Eat poop, get lootbox? (if he already does that on the surface)
Moose is a good boy. He does not eat his own poop. Or any other poop.

EDIT: In a fine example of missing the obvious, I only gave (Where) options for known neighborhoods. If you would like to explore unknown areas, feel free. Simply post a vote with up to two directions in it. (More than two would be a hassle.) For example:

Oh. Was under the impression we brought some :< was also thinking that Drew could move smoke inside, prevent it from getting out with Smokeform and compress it some.

Did we bring plastic bags we could fill then tie up? Bottles? Backpack?
Do we have cardboard boxes from packing things in the car? Would it work if we have Drew move smoke into the box, close it, and inventory it?
Are there cups in the taco place? Could take one, put smoke inside duct tape the mouth up. Need to check with Charlie if anyone exploded trying to inventory anything there.
We can ask someone from the large group if they're willing to spare one of their bottles or plastic bags. They should have one if they packed for an overnight astronomy trip. Speaking of that, we should trade for their telescope, binoculars and laser pointers.

Will any of these work? I guess if they don't we'll just wait for Drew to use up the weed in one of his ziplock bags.

@kitkatnacho
additional Yo-Yo stuff:
  • Throw Yo-Yo so the string goes around enemy. Then tie other end of string to yoyo and reduce string length.
  • Use Yo-Yo string as indestructible rope.
  • Move Yo-Yo string around something and tie the end that is supposed to be in your hand into the rope. Hold the Yo-Yo as high as possible, then stasis-lock, then reduce rope length -> impromptu crane.
  • Tie the Yo-Yo string around something heavy, move so the Yo-Yo can't reach your hand without moving the opject, use Yo-Yo summon and see if you can use this to get pull force.
The last depends majorly on if the Yo-Yo gets the speed to move to your hand once or if it continously sets speed to max until summoners hand reached.

I'm perfectly happy to say that you brought basically every reasonable thing. My question is more about what airtight containers one could reasonably get. And yes, Drew magically moving the smoke makes perfect sense and I should have thought of it. Not sure how much he can compress it but probably a bit.

Sure, you can have all those things and some big plastic storage tubs too. I'm simply not convinced that they're actually airtight. Enough for a while, I suppose. Especially if they're in inventory.

Can Drew move smoke that he didn't make by smoking?

@kitkatnacho
in the evening / sun independent rest period we could catch smoke in a bag, inventory it asap, take out the bag and repeat. If it works (we store pure smoke) the designated look out could do that on repeat. Also catch waste smoke from Drew smoking.
Especially Calliope could use that smoke as a sort of smokebomb (others would need to hold breath and run (or ensure oxigen via smokeform), she can just do it while skating fast enough)

PSA: Careless voting date says what?

Hm. I had intended for voting to close today, but it looks like I typoed the date and it's for tomorrow.

Does anyone care if it closes today? Voting seems to have more or less stopped.

I'll leave it open for at least another hour and if anyone in that time asks to leave it open until tomorrow then I will.

Would be sad for "(Action) Taylorpilot Will Embrace Munchkin" to not get its vote due to early closure... but whatever. Close if you feel like it.

Could you maybe interested in an additional vote to embrace munchkin?

I'm not quite convinced to vote for it for the following reasons:
  • I don't think Taylor even has airtight containers to seal the smoke
  • I doubt that severed monster limbs would be better than the Loot Box Drops we currently have, or even the mundane/non-Dungeon weapons we currently have. I'll concede the point about lures, though.
  • While I could probably be convinced of the necessity of it, I'm a bit leery of exposing Callie to carbon monoxide poisoning/weed exposure.
    • The first is fatal, and while Callie (a teenager) may have already begun to experiment with drugs, I'm a bit uncomfortable with Taylor (an authority figure) asking that of her.
    • If Callie isn't comfortable with that (youth anti-drug campaigns, personal choice, health factors, growing organism, maybe she's seen addicts of other drugs and is uncomfortable about doing any drugs, insert other reasons someone may not be comfortable with imbibing drugs), then she'd feel pressure to consent to something she's uncomfortable with, due to Taylor's authority over her.
    • I could see "adult relative asks teenage niece to smoke weed" being something that the mods would crack down on, regardless of the narrative circumstances. I'm quite liking this quest, and have no desire to see it squashed by a threadlock or banhammer.
  • The Munchkin Action Plan also has our Party potentially teaming up with this other party to hunt monsters.
    • XP is divided, and if we go hunting with them, then all the XP will be divided amongst their ~200 people in addition to us.
    • I don't believe that this would allow the party to make progress that would be worth the danger.
      • Better, IMO, to give Charlie information that could lead to more of them surviving, and then leave to grind up our own levels so that we can face a neighborhood boss.
  • The Munchkin Action Plan has good battle tactics, but we're not (currently) in battle. IMO, the currently-winning plan navigates the current social situation better. I think it's a solid plan overall, it's just specialized in a different direction.

They can reasonably have plastic bags. And does it need to be 100% air tight over longer periods of time to be able to be put into inventory with the smoke? Would have guessed it need to contain the smoke temporarily, like the lift-4-sec for heavy stuff rule.
  • I doubt that severed monster limbs would be better than the Loot Box Drops we currently have, or even the mundane/non-Dungeon weapons we currently have. I'll concede the point about lures, though.
Agreed on the weapon part, but imho still worth it due to the rest (lures, burning)

Good points, was thinking they meant more like "have Calliope drive through a smoke cloud, if she seems to be affected abort immeadiatly and note that poison immunity doesn't protect against smoke".

True, might have undervalued the risk of the plan leading to grouping.

Can there be only one Action plan? Thought we could use the munchkin plan to add experiments to the next turn in downtimes and stuff, to prepare for the danger of actual combat. (And so that the tricks are on MCs mind if they get into combat.

Only one winning plan in a given category, although it's possible that I will use parts of another plan if they catch my interest.

Ah, good to know. So Action plans are mutually exclusive, but tricks for MC to consider can just be posted, if they are interesting you might take them without being part of a plan.

Also, since it is almost 2 hours with no one lobbying for keeping open:
Will it close now?

For the monster limbs, I was thinking more about giving them to the big group. Right now most of them are weaponless so anything helps.
The Munchkin Action Plan also has our Party potentially teaming up with this other party to hunt monsters.
We will team up with the person/small group with the loot, not the large group as a whole. Ideally we wait for them to split up into small group before doing this. Also, we're still in the loot appraisal phase, won't team up unless there are some insane synergies to kill bosses or something. Will edit to clarify we're just considering the possibility.
Good points, was thinking they meant more like "have Calliope drive through a smoke cloud, if she seems to be affected abort immeadiatly and note that poison immunity doesn't protect against smoke".
alskdjasldj yes I do not want Calliope to smoke weed or stand in smoke. Edited for clarity.
