Cardassian Ship – Durable, uncomfortable, close, cramped and cheap. Thinks creature comforts are for other people and technical sophistication is for people who haven't spent decades starving to death. The fact that the starving could have been avoided if the government were less...you know, monstrous doesn't seem to have occurred to that many of them.

Okampan Crew – the crew are bright, perky, cheerful, and incredibly psychically powerful. Individually, they're all better than Vulcans, and as a gestalt? Who knows!

I could have sworn we had Tom in something before, but I suppose it has always been incidental.

I'll be honest, I'd have reacted the exact same way.

Hell, how in the actual sacred Feth did they get ONTO the ship in the first place?

The Val Jean's shields wouldn't have been up so it's not impossible for the tourists to have beamed on. How they didn't end up beamed into the walls and were dropped aboard unharmed is far more puzzling in my opinion.

I could have sworn we had Tom in something before, but I suppose it has always been incidental.

I'd say it's probably because that despite not having a story featuring him Tom has had quite a bit of screen time. Him being helmsman has helped contribute to that as it means he has a high chance of popping up during a bridge scene. In addition we had a whole episode dedicated to proving his innocence.

Since this is the TNG era they're technically Yellowshirts. That being the case, I prefer the term Lower Decker.

Eh, it's not like quest Janeway is bound to the prime directive in the way that canon Janeway is. Besides Q more or less spoiled the fact that Voyager is going to be going the long way home so any attempt to get the tech is either going to end in failure or the technology is going to be recovered but it won't be a viable way to get home.

I wouldn't turn down the chance to upgrade Voyager and Val Jean's transporters though. Crew replenishment becomes less of a concern if the fleet can continue to recruit from Okampa as they continue through the Delta Quadrant. That and Harry can visit his harem.

Though, I get the feeling the trajector might not be a thing in the quest. You would think if the Sikarians had transporters that could take you as far as they claim they would use the stuff to evacuate people, for a price of course. I'm going to bet what the Sikarians are actually selling is the idea of going to another galaxy and that they're doing so with holodecks.

Edit:
That or the locals found an Iconian gateway and Voyager is ultimately unable to adapt the technology because it is far beyond what they or anyone else in the region can reverse engineer, save perhaps the Borg, in a reasonable amount of time with the limited number of experts available to them.

Too funny

IIRC the reason they can teleport so far is because their planet is weird and acts as a natural focusing array.

I could have sworn we had Tom in something before, but I suppose it has always been incidental.
He's been a supporting role in a number of episodes, but not really the lead. I think the closest would be Time and Again, but was primarily a C'nola and Amy story.

PRIME FACTORS (1.1)
"D-91," Janeway said.

"Yes?"

"Do you feel like taking a vacation?" Janeway asked.

"No."

Janeway smiled at him, slowly.

D-91 didn't have lungs. Somehow, he managed to sigh.

***
The flare of blue-white light faded and the away team appeared in the entry room to the Sikarian hotel - obviously marked with communication repeaters and the orbital network emitters - looked around themselves. As was standard for Starfleet officers on an away mission to an unknown alien planet with whom diplomatic contact had been spotty at best, they dressed to at least somewhat blend in. Hence why D-91's stocky frame was shrouded by a bright Hawaiian T-shirt, T'are was dressed in her favorite two piece bikini (a bright blue one that contrasted against her green skin) with her masker hung around her neck on a golden chain, and Tom was in a button up T-shirt that had been left open, with shorts clinging around his hips. B'lanna was in a one piece swimsuit and had her hair done back into a ponytail.

"Well, this place seems nice," Tom said, cheerfully, as they all looked out at the milling crowds of aliens, heading for the front desk, waiting in line. The windows looked out on the broad beaches.

"Then why is that there?" Torres asked, pointing with one finger, her hand dropping to her transporter buffer. The entire crew froze-

"Ah, ah, ah!"

The man jogging towards them was faintly familiar - but then his voice and overly charming twenty gigacredit smile made it clear, even before he said: "Gathorel Labin, proprietor and owner of this fine establishment, you must be the Starfleet crew!" He took Torres' hand, shaking it. "Shalom, shalom," he said, before taking Tom's hand. "What is up my dude."

"That hasn't been a traditional greeting of my people for almost two centuries," Tom said.

"You can pass!" T'are said, quickly, before Gathorel could do the traditional greetings of an Orion male with an Orion female or bigendered woman - which took several minutes, involved pheromones that he was not equipped with, and generally did not happen around children or the elderly.

"May we know why you have an inoperative Borg Drone in a lawn chair?" D-91 asked, his voice mild despite the clear tension running along his synthetic spine. Gathorel turned to the Borg Drone, was not from a species that any of them recognized - being a long limbed anthropod with six eyes (all replaced by black and gray Borg prosthetics.) It was sitting on a chair. Someone had put a straw hat on it to keep the sun off it as it looked out towards the beach.

"Ah, yes, 91 of 811 checked in, oh, five years ago, never seemed to want to leave," Gathorel said, quietly.

"Borg don't just check in to places," Torres growled, quietly.

"This one did," Gahorel said, cheerfully. "Now, your captain has promised payment - but you don't need to worry about that. You are here on vacation! Though, our hotel has a very strict no weaponry allowance past the front desk, so you will have to leave your particle guns there." He smiled, and each of the Voyager crew swore they could hear a little DING! from his teeth as they sparkled in the sun.

"...I don't trust this place," Torres said, softly, as Gathorel walked off to greet another bunch of guests.

"Me neither," T'are whispered. Her nose twitched. "Something about it smells off."

"Oh, I mean, there's also the fact they have a Borg drone in a straw hat," Torres hissed.

"Well, that too!" T'are said, blushing.

"Do you think they use it as a way to intimidate people?" D-91 asked.

"I think it's advertising how safe everyone is here," Tom said. "Look, even the Borg can relax here."

"Indeed." D-91 said. "All right. I believe there is a lot of ground to cover..." He considered.
