Rebirth Of Man: Unification Of Terra

yah I really like terraforming the more I think about it. This is a broken world, a broken solar system, a broken galaxy let us mend it wounds and scars

Terraforming does have its upsides, but do be aware that the other nations won't sit back as you try to shape the world. Peace is basically impossible on Terra as things stand and Terraforming is very much a Very Hard early game for a better late game type situation.

Another note that I think needs to be clarified is that only the Unmaker option gives you the ability to actually improve your starting tech out of the gate. All the others require several actions of build up to even reach the point of being able to turn the ritualized systems of maintenance and usage into actual understanding.

Even only having one proper AI seems like it would snowball pretty heavily. Hopefully we'll be able to research terraforming later.

Again you won't start with said true AI, it will be the work of centuries or 10s of turns as each turn is a decade to rebuild it and everyone will see it happening, including Emps. Be very very careful when starting the Capstone project for the AI as that will tap dance all over Emps trauma triggers and ptsd from the Fall Of Man.

Oh I know, I was just saying that if we do survive long enough to make it it'll be pretty sweet.

This lets us carve our own bastions against which the other factions would struggle to even reach us. And it gives us non-combat bonuses to infrastructure, too. Much better than betting everything on our capstone tech while making ourselves a priority target to everyone.

Don't expect terraforming to make your cities invincible to the Thunder Warriors or to the other armies on the world. It is a significant defense bonus yes, but its not anything that is beyond the realm of other nations to counter.

The Terraforming option is better at defense in the sense it can cover and affect a wider area than the others, but it flat out doesn't have the same heights of defense that the energy tech path presents. That option is the single best option for pure defense, terraforming gives bonuses to resource production and other forms of infrastructure as well as military so its value for military areas is limited.

The Energy option splits its value between defense and offense, while the Unmaker option provides the single best offense in the game including being the only option that has a chance to simply Kill Emps with a single Army group.

The AI option is horde spam, quantity over quality is the name of the game. It has no need to spend pops on armies and can simply flash forge groups of rickety droid to attack commanded by a few better equipped robots.

In short each option does different things, but all are equally as viable and with differing costs inherent to their choices.

Energy - best basic offense and defense option
Terraforming - gives slight upgrades to defense and infrastructure (resource production)
Unmaker - the ultimate offense and the best methods of handling psykers/blanks/chaos and other such threats
AI - unending hordes of metal that cost little to make and even less to supply. Very few good units though

Oh and one more thing, what you don't choose here is only going to be found in the Ad Mech's vaults on Mars if it still exists or possibly in Malcador's hidey hole, if it still exists at all.

Can we have a guarantee that scoring a NAT 100 without modifiers equals finding a fully functional STC Library?

AIs might be a problem, the mech controls orbit somewhat, that's asking to get orbital bombarded by angry Red man

sure that is a reward if you roll 10 consecutive nat 100s on a salvage action.

Edit: then the Ad Mech will send a Titan Legion and several billion powered armored troops to steal it from you, and top it off with dropping antimatter nukes on your head for daring to touch the wonders of the Ancients.
