[X] ....No reason. No grand design. No ultimate goal. You just...do things.

This feels more true to the current state of the quest.

[X] To protect others. To let them know that no harm will come to them. Not while you can swing your fists.

[X] To protect others. To let them know that no harm will come to them. Not while you can swing your fists.

[K] To attract some hot chicks. Girls love big strong muscles.

[O] To survive not being the MC like you. I want to live damn it!

[X] To protect others. To let them know that no harm will come to them. Not while you can swing your fists.

Then there's silence....until pain shoots up your right arm a moment later. You wince while turning to Yamato, "But I can only do it once. Otherwise I'll probably end up seriously damaging myself."

@LinkOnScepter what happens when we increase Physical Resistance? Does the +30 become easier to use or does it stay once per [duration] while increasing the bonus?

Yamato nods to you, "Impressive, brother. A stark contrast to when we first enrolled in Raijin for certain."

Good, we're keeping Yam up to date so he'll be better able to plan with us.

Did Yam update yet?

After a few minutes of staring you down he finally asks, "Why did you do it?"

Looks like we're getting into it.

Yamato keeps staring at you. Then he starts, "Since you accepted the role as the Sole Participant, you gave up all pursuits other than training your physical capabilities. For almost three weeks you ignored all responsibilities save passing Midterms. The only thing you have done is prepare yourself for the Tournament."

....are you jealous that we're not spending as much time with you? Because if you are, that's fair.

"And you're saying that's a bad thing?"

"Not at all," Yamato shakes his head,

"As long as you make sure to spend time with me."

You nod along with Yamato, "Yeah, I know. I did that so that I could win the Tournament."

"I know, but what about after?"

Bro

Yamato leans forward, "Hayato. You have a level of Martial Arts Mastery that some can only dream of. You can move faster than the eye can track. You can block any blow, from any direction, without breaking your stride once. The attack you demonstrated to me was not only quick, but had enough force behind it to generate sound while hitting the air. When the Tournament is over, that strength won't just disappear. It will remain with you for the rest of your life."

Bro

What would you use this for in the long run?

He's just, really looking out for us.

Why do you want to become stronger? What's the end goal for you? What is all your power ultimately for?

[X] To protect others. To let them know that no harm will come to them. Not while you can swing your fists.

Beyond "We took up the responsibility to kick ass at the Tournament", the whole point of doing all of this was to lock down our Martial Foundations for the big fights we're expecting to happen. We've now got a Defensive Style, a Flexible Style, and an Offensive Style ready to leverage with Unyielding Mountain and potentially other Partner Arts, so when the Organization inevitably comes to try to kick our asses we'll be able to protect us and ours.

[X] To be better. Every day become better than you were before. To never stop improving.

I like a more selfish goal than just 'protecc'. And I dig the self-improvement vibe of this.

We wanted to do it, we could do it and we did it. Everything else is just a shiny bonus...but.

[X] To protect others. To let them know that no harm will come to them. Not while you can swing your fists.

This...puts a smile on my face.

...heh, to think that I would willingly pick a shounen-like choice for another reason other than ''the other options suck''.
