Deedeequest or The Wonders of Mundus: Be Careful Who You Pretend To Be - A Genderous Isekai Quest

How Dice Rolls Work
Character sheet is here.

Dice rolls are 1d10 + Stat + Proficiency + any applicable bonuses, such as Boons.

You may spend 3 Tension to Overdrive for a retroactive +5 to your roll (a Determination Overdrive), or +3 to an ally's roll (a Teamwork Overdrive). I will also automatically overdrive to avoid exhaustion or unconsciousness.

It is possible to critically succeed (on +5 on skill checks and +10 on combat rolls) or critically fail (by the same margins), but rolling a 1 or a 10 does not automatically crit in either case. It is possible to crit retroactively by Overdriving.

Your stat bonuses have names:
  • Vigor grants a Strength bonus.
  • Agility grants a Dexterity bonus.
  • Spirit grants an Aura bonus.
  • Mind grants an Intuition bonus.
  • Resolve grants a Guts bonus.
Dice are rolled on a first come, first serve bonus. You only roll for Deedee.

If I might ask actually, what are Sekhmet's pronouns? Since I noted that Deedee seems to be having difficulty keeping them straight if it's a strict "they/them" situation, even in internal narration. So yeah, wondering if it's they/them, she/they, or what have you.

And I suppose what are everyone else's preferred pronouns, to the best of Deedee's knowledge?

The answer to your first question is "that's a suprisingly tough question to answer." It doesn't spoil anything to answer it, even if I was going to address things later, but:

Jules - Sekhmet's player - is AFAB and came out recently to a very small circle of friends, and Sekhmet is at least notionally assigned-female-at-character-creation. Jules and Sekhmet are both she/they, but Jules is also Deedee's closest friend IRL, and Deedee with her mental health issues is hypercorrecting. Deedee cares more about getting it right than Sekhmet does, basically, and Sekhmet isn't out to the guild.

Alesha is a cisgender woman and my username for her on Dreamwidth is "gal_paladin" - make of that what you will.
Deedee is, thanks to Ace, presently questioning.
Hikaru is transmasculine, he/him, and transitioned far before meeting most of the guild.
Ace is a transwoman and was publicly so as the Castr (live streamer) Morgan Zhu.

Which isn't necessarily off the table, but Deedee has a lot of work to do on herself.

Remember, thread,

The power is yours!*

Of my dear sweet Aurora. Talia you impossible darling.

So, I had read about half of these as they went up, as I saw them linked, as distractable as work has made me.

I loved them all, for the record. I just no has brain or attention span.

But until tonight I had somehow missed reading EVERY SINGLE ONE which contained an obvious in-joke or callout in my direction, and BOY is my face red.

You are a mad genius, and not only for the Kansas City Shuffle worldbuilding. On a character level and prose level this is all incredible work.

But what if I want Deedee to smooch everyone?
Then I suppose the second half of our guild name will prove to have been unknowningly prophetic.

Vote on a plan for levelling up that spends up to 9 Skill Points and 4 Tech Points from the options below. You can save both between levels.

[] Skill Points (6):
Point of clarification: is the budget 6SP, or 9SP?

Edit: Also, is there a reason the Least Boon of Flamma isn't on the menu this time around?

Edit 2:
I really do want Mutan's least boon, but much much more than that, I want Lore-Wise.
Lore-Wise has already given us an edge once, and will probably continue to do so-- and it's clear already that we ignore it at our peril.
On the one hand, I agree on the importance of Lore-Wise. If - as it currently seems - we'll be in Mundus for a while, it's sorta the skill that will help us find our stride here.

On the other hand... the main thing I am worried about vis Violent is the possibility of it proccing on someone who we think is a danger to our allies or innocents but really isn't. Looking at the available options, an Empathy or Perception proficiency feels like the best bet to help out there.

Aside from the odd direct reference to a Jaunt (this will make more sense to the rest of SV in about two-three weeks), I'm not sure I did this deliberately that often. Questing Country being my lawyer-friendly magical girl series (ft "gone crystalline" for hyperlogical mode because Hecatites) and the reference to kything are the only ones I can think of. If there are others, I think that's "similar reference pool" rather than "deliberate 9mm fingerguns at you in particular."

I am glad you're free to enjoy something apparently laser-targeted at you, though. And "Kansas City Shuffle worldbuilding" is a hell of a way to refer to the meta layer loreposts. You aren't even wrong.

And someone gets the joke behind Free Company "Dungeon Crawling And Chill."

It's 9 SP. That'll learn me to recklessly copypaste. Edited the post accordingly.

Flammite boon is removed because we got a libation bowl Relic that someone is going to teach us how to use already.

I will note that Violent will make us scan for threats, so this is notionally correct. You are perhaps overstating how much we'll need better IFF scanning, but it can't hurt.

i mean i did add Half-Light to dd's d/e sheet for a reason

[X] Pinball Priest

@Wardragon and @Fabricati you need to put a - in front of the parts of your plans after the name so that the entire thing is counted as one item instead of individual votes as they currently are right now.

A Crap Guide To AWOoo Super Turbo Alpha Edition: Fight For The Future
With apologies to JoCat:

"Some people get a real job, like stripping, making the blue meth or getting their sword hard so they can sell it to that foxgirl who's soloing. Some people decide that's for suckers and go off to live in the woods, stealing the silverware on the way out and pawning it to get strippers, meth and sextoys. Others shrug and join the army; still others look at the previous choices and decide to find God. We're doing none of that shit. Why not? Cause we don't have the social skills to even buy a Rod of Lordly Might, crime is beneath us, we were watching anime while they studied the blade, and our Mind stat is too high to be anything but an insufferable internet atheist. Welcome to A Crap Guide to AWOoo!"

(cue kazoo cover of the AWO overture)

With similar apologies to JoCat.
You ever make an account on a forum for the sole and express purpose to upload audio shitposts for your friend's content?

Fanwork to Tension policy
Welcome to the forums, Alqemizzy!

I think this is a good time to mention that in base Valor, you get Valor as a 'stunting bonus' for roleplaying.

So in this thread, I'll award Tension for posting fanwork that I'm compelled to threadmark.

Alq posted the first such; I'll accept artwork and fanwork now.

Also, if it's noncanon it's Apocrypha, and if I accept it as canon it's Media.

RPGMaker musing and art by MakioKuta
I was developing this world and these characters for a while, long before I posted it here. One of the things I tried to do was a proof of concept RPGMaker game in two weeks for a game jam.

We did a very good job for two weeks of work, which is to say it was an interesting proof of concept and a successful project, that at the same time I am in no way satisfied with. Like, I'm not even linking it: having only two weeks to make it showed.

I do want to make another video game out of this stuff eventually, and working on the Quest has been a tremendous help with that. I even went as far to hire MakioKuta to do some character portraits for me - she did some excellent stuff well regarded by the RPGMaker community, particularly the visual novel April Was A Fool and art for the extremely polished I Can't Believe It's Not Commercial full length game Weird and Unfortunate Things Are Happening.

She does good work.

Really

Just fantastic interpretations

Of these characters.

I'm looking forward to using them in an actual game.

...wait, who's this dude?

It was the QC and kything references.

Ah, those. At least part of it is that, For Reasons, these very fannish characters can't use references to works owned by large, potentially litigious corporations; so I had to use clear, striking expies thereof.

I did ask you for (and received) permission to use Questing Country for this world's magical girl fandom. But it's one thing to say so and another to hear Deeds talk about the Valence Quest Arc.

(This is also the reason why it's the Kikaiser series of karate bugmen instead of Kamen Rider. That, and Kikaiser somehow manages to be a quadruple pun name. Bonus points* to those in the thread who can figure out why.)

*these may be in the form of Tension bonuses
