For war, yep. The issue I was thinking of is more long term...
After all, he can't let the planets defend themselves from him.:D
Never! After all, he will be the only defender they have when the big, bad Core Senators demand the PDF's to stop buying all the weapons they can get. After all, chaos in the Republic, is what the Sith want. The bigger the crisis the easier it will be to take over and offer a solution to the desired masses. You can trust that old Palps has already begun to adjust his long-term plans.

I mean during the course of the war it can become easy to nationalize the fleets (more so with Takin being one of his allies) and turn them into regional defense forces. Plus even during the empire planets were allowed a certain amount of planetary defense forces including fighters and light ships. Those forces were not enough to stop any serious Imperial task force, keep in mind the trade federation blockade was not mainline military ships like the ISD and VSD were.

...Yeah, forgot that he could easily get exactly what he wants while making himself out as a good guy by publicly speaking out against what he actually wants...

On the other, said forces tend to handle small craft poorly, balanced out by only the imperials being able to own any remotely half decent fighter, supposedly...

I mean an imperial Task force has the ISD and VSD core but also has lighter ships like the Carrack class and later Lancer class that handle escort duties and perform fighter interception, not to mention the multiple TIE squadrons carried aboard (which are a better fighter than the older fighters in use by both pirates and planetary defense forces, unless they changed that when they nuked legends).

I may not quite remember correctly, but from what I was aware the Empire did not exactly have much anti-fighter measures outside of their TIEs, and well, they were made to be cheap,( still better than anyone who can't make their own) and due to the big guns philosophy, the on paper numbers and real numbers rarely equaled each other...
Still would have been enough probably if it weren't for the one group that managed to make their own modern fighter craft...

Well the main rebel strategy was strike where the Empire big boys were not, they needed the Mon Cal Star Cruisers to start contesting battles. Fighter strikes were used on smaller ships as a lot of them were turbolaser heavy so more intended to face other small ships or wolf pack a larger one and with no onboard fighter complement or only a a few TIEs they were vulnerable to fighter attack. As it is though the 6 tie squadrons an ISD would carry meant that they could generally swamp Rebels with numbers if you went after a task force and against older craft, well the often matched up well on a 1:1 basis.

But yeah the X-wing was a major game changer for the Rebels as it gave them the best fighter in the galaxy at the time, taking the spot from the TIEs. Just imagine if the best you have is the Y-Wing which was a bomber craft, TIEs could kill those in numbers thanks to maneuverability advantages. Z-95 was the best fighter you could find and TIEs were newer and matched up well against it.

Um, while I realise that overall the ship frame expert is better, we seem to be voting for the Naboo corvettes which is an option we already have a frame for so we don't need him this soon? Or have I misunderstood something? Won't we get another option once we've finished the Naboo corvettes?

Yes, you will be using the Corvette Frame already developed if the Naboo action is starting. The Planning process will start at the Weapons step. And yes, you will have other ships to build after the Naboo option is finished (if it wins).

Reducing flaws is always a good thing and a cockpit designer will boost our designs to the next stage.

Except it is only after it is done while the other stat one is for every step we take. Making a better ship overall.

I don't think this option is very good as well only get the bonus if we roll a six so it's not very likely that we actually get it.
15ish percent per dice rolled. The thing is that there are quite a few dice involved in getting a ship to market. Statistically it is fairly likely that any given ship will net at least one six.

That is the issue. You are thinking about only the next ship while this is meant for the company as a whole and long term products and designs.

On the other hand, we probably could also get it before the next contract, an making a better ship could translate to more upgrades...
So, it really depends when it comes to which is better. 🤷‍♂️
