[X] The Tears of Winter: King of Winter - For she who risked everything to save him, ensure they are repaid in kind.

*Season's Greetings: The hands of Fate are not the Apocryphal's alone; and though her power is by far the greater, still she may acknowledge the sanctum of her kin. Allows Nilfel to be shielded by Spare the Innocent even if Adorie is not physically present. You can move your other populations into Nilfel if you want. Given the massive lifespan and vitality upgrades, it's unlikely they would complain. Perhaps more importantly, by retreating into Nilfel Hunger may earn a modest reprieve from whatever interesting times are troubling him at the moment. Abuse this privilege and the consequences will be dire: but sometimes all you need is a day and a night.

A day and a night.

Hey, was somebody worrying about the Apocryphal Curse striking in the 24 hours before Pillars goes up? Well worry no more! As now can rest safely, so long as we're in Nilfel.

I want to be able to bring Adorie with us -- and I'm pretty interested in the Font of Myth, as well as the other things like Kingdom of Winter history -- so we will be able to keep using our Praxis abilities.

... Also. This means that we can put Adorie in charge of any Human Sphere territories we take over, and they'll also be protected from the Apocryphal Curse. So Adorie's reign can defend both Nilfel and the Human Sphere this way. Yep, I'm going for this. :)

We get to have our cake and eat it too, when it comes to Apocryphally-defended lands, Praxis usage, and even the 24 hours before Pillars activates for those who were worried.

Also... We get to leave the nation, feeling like we did not just merely save it from a tyrant, but truly brought peace and prosperity. We brought it greater fortune than it had before. And that is a good feeling. Hunger didn't merely just kill its usurper, while costing it huge amounts of money, crown jewels, and magical tower. He also defended it from an Armament, and reinvigorated it. I like that.

So, another thought occurs.

If we get Crimson Flare, and enough mental stats to unlock galactic Blood Control, don't we just straight-up win this Geas Task? We can literally solo the entire human sphere sans Armaments. We'll need to have a plan for the Armaments, whether that's by recruiting Armaments of our own by becoming even more ridiculously powerful.

And once we conquer everything, we can offer mass ennoblements to everyone and they will love us anyway. Everyone wants those kind of boons. Then Architect of the Age kicks in and we build an empire of wonders during timeskips.

Of course, Apocryphal is still a thing, so it's won't go that easily. But it puts us within reach of our goal, for the first time.

Since I'm on a math kick, Pillars of Creation is 21 days for every Lunar Month. Not sure what precise timeframe that is but I'd guess 28 days.

365/28 = 13.03
28*13 = 364 Days

We get 13 Pillars of Creation procs a year normally of 21 days each, for a total of 273 days in the Realm of Evening per real world year.

We get an additional 210 days per year within the Realm of Evening to spread out as we see fit. With a balanced approach 210/13, that means roughly 16.15 additional days per pillars proc, giving us 37.15 days there at the end of every Lunar Month. 37.15*13 = 482.95 Days per year. Roughly 57 percent more Realm of Evening time. For every year outside. 32 percent more than a year can be spent inside.

[X] The Tears of Winter: King of Winter

This.
This is the comfy option.
Pillars is a trap, a manifestation of procrastination, allowing Apocryphal to power up.
This option makes Hunger stronk, decks two potential problems in the face, prints money, and gives a Get Out of Apocryphal card.

Also Adorie will adore us.
That is a completely fair outlook though. Just because we can doesn't mean we should.

[X] Feat: Saber

Gets us the Crown / Saber / Orb combo down the line, AND improves the stuff we can do with Praxis. To say nothing about the rank boost and skill boost. Please win.

Imagine, 10.7 Combat Rank and the skill to use it!
If the char-sheet's rank is correct and we're at 8.8 base, then... +1 rank brings us to 9.8. Bastion of Myth's effects (giving +.4 rank which does not stack with OaF 1) means that OaF 1 provides 1.6 War Rank, so... does that mean 9.8 + 1.6 = 11.4 War Rank?

Maybe we should get Dominion: War, and Preeminence: War just in case. :V

Actually, I half-expect that getting those two Advancements for our Ring, will unlock Conjunctional Advancements with the Forebear's Blade due to Once and Future's giving +Rank for purposes of war...

By the way, as it was pointed out in discord, the training malus of the Ring actually means training our skill with the sword is actually comparatively difficult even in the Realm of Evening, and none of our Artifacts are particularly focused on such a thing, even the Forebear's Blade. There might be something in Tear's "Majesty" domain that might be able to do it, however as the very previous update said, the purview of Winter is Might; which means we might not get an opportunity to use our picks in such a manner.

This opportunity is far more rare and important than it seems at first glance, is all I'm saying; we'd be hard pressed to find something so convenient in this category again. So I'd like to prioritize it.

I want Saber, skill is so good, and it expands our praxis access, Slice Fate! The chance to get Orb is just icing on top at this point.

However, King of Winter is just too good.

[X] The Tears of Winter: King of Winter

The mechanical benefits are immense, Health, Damage Resistance, and Condition Resistance all jump from 25% to 75%, Damage Dealt goes from 125% to 250%, and Attack Speed jumps from 30% to 75%! Bear in mind that the bonus we got from Whiteout at the cost of 7 Arete only boosted Attack Speed by 5%, which makes the 45% bonus here equivalent to 63 Arete spent on Attack Speed, 63!

If that was all there was to it, it would still be a hard call to make, skill is skill after all, but combined with healing the Wall, restoring the Kingdom, and quelling the Shard, it also lets us take miss Praxis buff with us without turning the kingdoms into curse bait.

I would have chosen other paths to reach this point, but given our previous choices this seems obvious.

Huh, hey, here's a thought -- if the Shard of the Arcanist is quelled, does that mean the Final Vestige she resides in is free to be explored? Without worrying about waking up an insane Shard?

If so... cool!

Maybe we can visit it, in the day before we enter the Pillars. Fight some Chromatic Beasts, and also just generally see what's in the Final Vestige.

While Crimson Flare does not offer Spare the Innocent, it does grant massive bonuses to Nilfellian citizenry both from the First Flare and the Age of Blood. Why focus on Nilfel alone when you could bring the glory of Hunger Ring to all the Realms beyond?

[X] The Ring of Power: Crimson Flare

We're named after this ring. We also shouldn't discount true mastery over its powers, that's not just the listed benefits it's being able to apply it to problems with supreme skill in the future. Just like how saber notes, skill matters in how well we apply the raw power.

Eh, I don't actually care about empowering Nilfellian, what I want out of Spare the Innocent is two fold, firstly it lets us move on to the human sphere finally, no mus, no fuss just done. Secondly it lets us walk away from all these petty responsibility freely, we wont have to worry about any of the kingdoms we keep getting bogged down with.

That right there was Adorie's biggest selling point for me from the start!

If we do get King of Winter we've really gotta get Refinement of Battle as soon as feasible. The more time it has to scale up, the better off we'll be with an omniapplicable attack like Ruin smoothing our way.
Hey guys, remember when we had an option to generate 3d3 Praxis picks + 3 normal ones and also possibility of spending Arete and that could have granted us RoB. I remember.
I also remember people wanted to help Adorie politically instead.
Ah good times, I am sure next time we are offered Praxis picks there will be traitors who will shun it.

My second choice is Tears of Winter, it's just very good all around and nice, since it ensures that people of Nilfel don't get fucked over with what happened to the Wall, while giving us an safe, comfy and strong stronghold. The artifact also has some seriously good domains beyond that.
