1 point higher mod will not change things majorly for the 100 DCs. What you want, the point where skill training actually has a much bigger impact on ours rolls, is so far ahead of us, we should ignore it, otherwise we end up in a situation where there's no time left, because you're trying to get us to 11+ in skill level. Because every vote it'll be 'Oh but if we increase the skill now instead of later it'll make rolls even more efficient' in a never ending cycle. Seriously, we have good odds of getting through the 50 DC spells right now.

... The "having a class or more at 11" thing was something I think we should try to obtain by January of the next year (12 turns from now) , but it's hardly something shared between me and the ones that are voting for the same plan as I.

The vote is still open. I'm already writing the 'Dreams of Old part'. Even if you don't take it this time, you'll be able to take it in future months, so it's a practical thing to write while I wait for your plan.

Right now I'm feeling super creative again. It's crazy how once I start writing, it's hard to stop. There are so many avenues I'd like to take this story and so many things I want you guys to see. I hope you guys are having as much fun reading, as I do writing it.

-[X] Case III: The Riddle of Riddle - Digging through the archives for so long has given you a good grasp as to who walked these floors in the last two hundred years. There were mentions of someone, you still remembered. There had been some records history of one of the greatest minds that walked this castle, maybe not as special as Sally-Anne or even Dumbledore, but still … Who was he? (2 Actions)
-[X] Quidditch Round 2, Hufflepuff vs Slytherin – It's time for the second game of the year and while you have a lot of things that you'd like to focus on, most of the school will be present here. Go and watch the Quidditch Game. It could be interesting and if it is not, well you will be high enough up to watch the clouds instead.

Good that you've been planning for this since first year: Buy Books, Ingredients, Joke Shop Articles, Instruments and other things. Go and look, if you can make some money by buying things for first and second years. Roll for how many are interested and then for how much they want to spend. Take 15% of their spending as a fee.
-[X] Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea I – The fairly large Great Lake to the south of the main building has always been your most favorite part of Hogwarts' surrounding lands. It was breathtaking how beautiful it was on a sunny day and frightening how dark it could get at night, almost looking like a hole in the fabric of the world. At the beginning of your year you glimpsed at something that had broken through the surface, making you realize how shallow your world view had been. -[X] Break through your Horizon I – Hogwarts is built in a valley area — surrounding mountains are part of the landscape. You had always wondered about them, because they were your daily horizon. Usually there would not have been enough time for you to get there, wander around to explore the lands and come back in time for curfew. Having access to a broom would have helped you, but now that you had secret exits out of Hogwarts… the horizon was not your limit anymore. Use the unknown passageway in the north end of the castle. Ok my plan is not taking off so
[x] Plan Coalition
I tire of people trying to get our clearly socially awkward character in social situations he does not like. I prefer 1 on 1 encounters that are more personal and meaningful than a loud sporting event.

Like the ancient runes club, we could blew it off and don't find anyone with a bad roll. And, personally, I find it to be more likely to happen with the random going around than with the sport event.

I would like to remind people that the Charisma build that SV adores is literal anathema to our character. Don't expect us to make many friends if you want to keep the wand bonus.

Also, because @Nurgle brought it up, we need to use a considerable amount of actions to explore and investigate things every turn to not lose our wand bonus.

This isn't a hard cap, but maybe we should really consider to expend 4 or 5 actions for the next turn if Coalition wins.

I am pretty sure that we will never have lots of friends, BUT it would be nice to have at least a couple of friends.

We are already doing the research with our family book so we should have it covered for now at least...

So?

No, I'm actually asking. What's your point? So fucking what?

For me, BeepSmile, I prefer a few very good friends (as in, are both 'close' and 'are good people') that are not shitheels, compared to an alternative of "many tools that are to be manipulated via their desire to subjugate others".

And Charisma is a a useful tool to advocate for compassion IRL, and via this game's mechanics it also gives bonuses to some skills.

So... Why is a potential charisma build, i.e. "able to convive other people to agree with/assist with [the MC's projects/desires] anathema?

Why is "being skilled an communicating one's perspective and ideals a problem?

Can Jacob not grow and change? Did the QM not literally state that that MC has flaws in his perspective?
----
I am so fucking done with pretending that other people's bullshit isn't bullshit. It fucking is.

I disagree. It's not what we do, but how we approach our 'what we do'.

We can pick whatever cases, but regarding our wand bonuses, it is the sort of "press the Gray Lady/Observe the party/Drop it and just experience exiesntce rather than risk causing suffering" that matters.

"It ain't want you do, it's the way that you do it," so to speak.

There is also a point about experience being a requirement to match with our wand, so not really.

Fagus wood, Phoenix feather core, 12" long - The true match for a beech wand will be, if young, wise beyond his or her years, and if full-grown, rich in understanding and experience. Beech wands perform very weakly for the narrow-minded and intolerant. Phoenix feather wands are always the pickiest when it comes to potential owners, for the creature from which they are taken is one of the most independent and detached in the world. These wands are the hardest to tame and to personalize, and their allegiance is usually hard won. (Wand only available due to chosen origin. +5 to all spellcasting. If too many actions are taken that speak against the ideals of the wand, the wand will mark you unworthy and lose the bonus)

I'm a bit new to this quest, and have been lurking so far. But to my understanding, our wand bonus is tied to being broad minded and gaining experience in lots of things.
Is social action - meeting new people and trying to understand their point of view, not the most classic way of broadening ones mind?
We don't have to be a social butterfly, but talking to people not in our year and not in our house is essential too.
And because it's our weakness, working on that will give us more new experience then just playing to our strengths.
[ ] Spain – You've grown up on a small Mediterranean island, which is mostly hidden from Muggles. The passing by ships see only a piece of land void of any life, instead of the beautiful little town that you call home. Growing up here was peaceful, but lonely. The largest part of the population consisted of old wizards and witches in the last chapter of their life, trying to live the rest of their days in peace and under the hot sun of Spain. Your parents are as old as the rest of them, being able to procreate and raise you as their child only thanks to a multitude of potions. Growing up surrounded by people a hundred years older than you, had given you quite a different perspective on the world. You were calmer and more observational than your peers.

Narratively we're a kid who grew up with no one to relate to, and ended up in a house who's negative stereotype is snobby antisocial loners. If anything - not talking to people close to our age is our "safe zone", and therefore the one we should avoid.

I take the 'most independent and detached from the world' thing as a trait we need to keep to keep the bonus. Basically, not getting to attached to a large group of people.

We don't have to become best friends or choose a side in the Voldemort fight just yet, we don't even have to join the Voldemort fight.
But we can't just avoid talking to people.
Also - one can be independent and detached without being antisocial.
If we go by the series, the actual phoenix example we have, Fawkes, stayed with Dumbledore until his death and mourned him. But then he left.

I'd rather have 2 actions at training DADA over Potions but, I can see the appeal of being good at potions two.
Nah, I really think we shouldn't try for any class training once a Skill reaches P- in that subject. As then the training action changes from 100% chance of success to only 75% chance of success. Still good, but at that point the action would be better spent on learning spells. Only taking 1 DADA action is probably the best move here honestly. At least at this point in time.

Looking at your plan again, it isn't bad. When I last saw it I was a bit sleep derived so I wasn't really sure if I liked it or not. Just a few things I'd like to ask though. Is there any reason in particular that you didn't choose to take a Case this month? Do you want to give Jacob some time to relax?

Though, one possible problem I do note is with you Attribute training allocation. Right now we have Intellect 3. Training to get Intellect 4 has a 70% chance of success which is pretty good and likely to succeed. However, training to get Intellect 5 only has a 60% chance of success. Can you be convinced to maybe consider switching up how that is allocated? Keep one training action for Intellect but spend the other action of a different Attribute (Creativity, Constitution, or Empathy). We have an 80% chance to get Constitution 3, a 70% chance to get Creativity 4, and an 80% chance to get Empathy 3. Or are you attached to Intellect for some reason in particular? I will note that Creativity is just as important as Intellect for almost all our Skills concerning spellcasting.

Actually, it is 85% for Dada, Charms, transfiguration, history of magic, and ancient runes.
There is a 61.5% chance to obtain three consecutive successes on everyone of them, so I think that, after lining up some other classes to P-, we shouldn't shy from training at least the first 3, possibly between the second half of this year and the first half of the next.

Basically, yes. I wanted to give Jacob a chance to experience life- whatever the QM thinks would be interesting. I expect to do the Case next turn.

The reason for intellect 5 is the level ups we get so that when we level up we could put 2 into intelligence to get 7. Also, I believe the rolls to get from Intellect 4 to 5 is 70%. While I don't necessarily believe we will get a level up this turn (since we just got one), I figure its best to be prepared. Next turn, we could work on Creativity or Empathy/Constitution.
