Direct mitigation only becomes better each time we take it.

++ Progression may allow less risky fights to provide 4 picks.
Based on what our Blood Advancements did, my current assumption is it will just make us get more for each pick. If it turns out to actually give us more picks instead, I don't think it will be too late to try to pursue advancements/mitigation like this after we have secured ++Progression.

Anyone else feel like mining? Snagging the Elder Sign is pretty tempting...
I think Fisher King's the easier target, swapping Artemisinin for the discount and taking Pillars means only the remaining pick and a mere 4 Arete are required to complete the Advancement. Or at least it should be 4; Towards Fisher King says it's five, but that's inconsistent with the text of the Decimation discount. 29 Arete for two EFBs isn't a bad deal. Yet the 20% median difficulty decrease for Huntress' Moon is very valuable, for the same reasons that direct Apocryphal reduction is, our mitigation style for Decimation is almost a self-imposed form of the Apocryphal Curse. Broader selection means more morally palatable targets, too...

Honestly, even if we just built our bank back up a bit I'd be happy. Going into any situation with less than 7 Arete feels pretty iffy.

21 days every 30~ days is kind of insane. We have all those downtime things to do and no downtime to use them with, so let's take the supercharged potential option!

[X] Pillars of Creation

Not sure on the rest of the vote yet.

Oh my god, I just realized...Pillars has amazing synergy with Might's Repose! 21 extra days every month mean that we're aging twice as fast as everyone else. Think of the value!

Also we still have Punctured Soul and True Maiming, lol. Hopefully Pillars can conjure up some kind freaky pomegranate that'll fix those up.

Indenture - We will delay this option until it becomes relevant
Cue Human Sphere conquest speedrun just so we can see the blurbs

Decimation

[ ] Fisher King

No particular hurry so not worried about discounts.

[x] Artemisinin
Reduced required difficulty and increased variety both improve our chances if finding a practicable target when we need one.
*Increases mitigation duration of a successful Huntress' Moon by 100%
Once we finish buying Fisher King, fish based hunts will be worth 3 months

[ ] Foremost Blade [12 Arete]
As Hunger Progresses, 4 pick fights will be ever more extreme and thus inconvenient in any given setting.

The Apocryphal Curse

[ ] Direct Mitigation

*Simple, potent and inexpensive. What's not to like?
As you say.

[x] Golden Hour
Less frequent but still significant bullshit will disrupt the narrative less, let us do timeskip actions actions and generate pics when it does proc.

[ ] Serendipity [12 Arete]
It's not like she likes you or something, stupid!
We don't like her either!

You have defeated Augustine, the Lady Protector and acquired 2 picks. You have slightly over 25 Arete.

[ ] Once and Future II [25 Arete, 2 picks]
Very powerful but bland.
I'm looking forward to getting a shroud.

[x] Pillars of Creation
"Ask me for anything but time." said Napoleon.
"Hold my beer!" Said The Evening Sky

[ ] Elder Sign [12 Arete, 1 pick]
Spells per day is useful. Still, Pillars could provide us with Elixir springs and time to sit in them working on Graces

[ ] Towards Fisher King [Variable depending on mitigation choices]
I thought we spent 3 picks on Fisher King when we killed the Armament Fish, leaving just 2 to go.

[x] Exalted Spirit
Is still a really good pick without Elder Sign. Whole party gets brains.

Currently these are the best choices, but if we can get the extra arete I think Foremost Blade should be strongly considered. It's pretty useless now since it requires us to increase fight difficulty to 4 picks but if we can get further mitigation and reduce it to even 3 pick fights then we have pretty reliable permanent Decimation mitigation when combined with Pillars ability to spawn enemies.

No, the ++Progression won't help. It will improve the rewards of a fight but if we power up due to it and reduce the difficulty of the challenge down from 4 pick, it won't count anymore for Foremost Blade.

Your right we did spend 3 picks on it. The remaining cost on it is 2 picks 12 Arete. We should be able to get it this update even without the mitigation.

Edit: with mitigation the cost for pillars is just 4 Arete.

As a sidenote, turns out that IRL Artemisinins are a group of drugs that are used to treat malaria.

They were originally derived from extracts of sweet wormwood.

Am I missing something here? Foremost blade + Pillars of Creation all but guarantees we can summon up a worthy target. All that's left is to mitigate the danger level required of a such a target and we have the Hunt as managed as it can be with Apocryphal around to buff our target at the worst possible moment.

Hm, the extended period of Pillars is of course convenient, but it'd also mean burning through our Decimation-free days faster. We don't know how many slaying the Armament Fish bought us, or how A Hunger Sated will interact with the realm of Evening. The most favorable interpretation would be using the outside world's clock, halted for the duration of the party's vacation, but when has a Curse ever cut us a break? Realistically, the best we can hope for is that it drains at a third of the speed, costing us seven days for every three-week stay. Pillars can generate AHS targets, but it's been hinted that that's not a renewable resource. It'd be unfortunate to have to go hunting again, right after we return.

Also, Pillars means full restoration of Hunger's various injuries. The lost lung, the lingering liver maiming, Punctured Soul, all that will be wiped away. Is Microwave really ready to draw Hunger without his signature eyepatch?!
