Tsk tsk, if our lil' bro chooses to not engage in highschool shenanigams, how can we get new content to tease him with? Go and embarass yourself for our amusent, bro.
I will freely admit, I know nothing about professional Chess. If you guy's Tactics were higher, I would've actually looked up what special maneuvers and strategies there were to better describe it.

"Took over the Oda Clan after the previous Daimyo, Nobunaga Oda, died at the Honno-ji Incident in 1582. The Clan took on his name and he went on to unify all of Japan in 1590. He famously forbade ordinary peasants from possessing weaponry, instituting a sword hunt to confiscate the arms which were then smelted down to create a statue of Buddha."
"Wait, why would he do that?" your pencil stops as you look to your brother with a confused frown, "Why would you ever want to get rid of people's ability to defend themselves?"
Your brother closed the book he was reading and moved on to the next one, "The objective reason for it was to limit the options of ronin and potential rebel elements that opposed his rule. It was a logical decision for someone who wished to secure their power. The statue was built to ease the anger of the citizens due to the large influence and presence of Buddhism in the country at the time."
"That still doesn't mean it's right," your frown doesn't disappear as you shoot a glare at your drawing of Hideyoshi, trying to project your anger at his spirit. Who are you to say it doesn't work like that with Yato on your arms?
"Many historical events are unconcerned with being 'right', brother," Yamato's voice remains the same monotone as he closes your book with one hand and replaces it with another, "Our hour of studying history is up. We shall now switch to mathematics."
1. This shows the difference between Hayato and Yamato's thought processes. Hayato's more emotional outburst, while Yamato, is more cool.
2. Also shows the similarities as they both acknowledge it was not 'right' or Yamato seems to imply it. So he does have his own sense of justice there.
3. One hour of history studying...and a +10 bonus already. A madlad, these two are. Then again, their probably is off-screen studying as well.
Your head hits the table with a groan, earning you a shushing from a student at a table near you. Mouthing an apology, you open the book your brother gave you...
"So, did you go to the Chess Club yesterday?" you ask Yamato to get your mind off the numbers.
"Adequate," he quickly replies, "Your Club Meeting went the same?"
"Hell yeah. Our teacher, Sensei Hamza is pretty cool, and I met this dude named Kohei. He's my Senior in the MMA part of the Club. Seemed pretty chill when I talked to him. Who'd you meet?"
Yamato and you turn your attention from your study materials to the Library's front entrance. A female student comes marching in, a purple bag hanging from her right arm. Her long skirt swishes as she walks, flat shoes tapping against the rug. Her blonde hair moves with each step and...are those cat ears on her head?
1. Cosplay. Hmm, wonder if she actually would have been one in another vote.
2. Well, anyhow. Looks like Yato talked. Since their was no mention of transforming into gauntlets. Looks like he can talk even in normal glove form. Neat!
You roll your eyes and look up just as the girl slams her bag onto the table. Completely ignoring the fact that you're in a library, she pulls out a seat and sits down right across from Yamato, her eyes narrowed as she speaks in an angry tone, "I request a rematch."
"Declined," your bro's instant reply makes the girl gasp in shock, "I am currently engaged in studying for my classes, as well as helping my brother with his studies. If you truly wish a rematch, I will be open for one during the next Chess Club Meeting."
"No," she swiftly says while leaning forward, "I will not allow you to get away with the way you humiliated me during our first Meeting! My pride as a Munagi won't allow it!"
[Barter: Business Check: 0/15: Fail!]
You tilt your head in confusion. What does her last name have to do with her pride?
[Yamato Barter: Business Check: 20/15: Success! +10XP]
As if sensing your confusion, Yamato begins to explain, "Rishi Munagi. Her family name is the same as the CEO of Apexi. They're a rising company when it comes to the Japanese vehicle market. They've become known for their products consistent quality at reasonable prices, and above average customer service. Recently they had a merger with a previous rival, increasing their resources while removing competition."
A smug smile crosses Munagi's soft features as she raises a hand to her lips, "I see you've done your research. Could it be that learning the truth behind my pedigree has shaken your resolve, and instilled the fear of challenging me into your heart? Ohohohoho!"
...There are people who actually laugh like that in real life?
"Negative," your brother replies while writing down some numbers in his own journal, "my reasoning is that there is no reason for me to play a chess match with you when I am busy with more important tasks. And, again, if you wish for a match then simply wait until the next Club Meeting. Your status as Head of the Club means there is a high probability of us meeting then regardless."
"That is too long!" she slams a hand against the wooden table, smile replaced by a sneer, "I demand immediate satisfaction from you!"
"Hey now," you decide to step in before a Librarian comes over and you all get in trouble. You ignore the glare she sends your way and keep going, "Lets all calm down here. My bro said he'll fight you, just when the Club meets again. All you gotta do is be patient. He'll be glad to face you then."
2. Also (Diplomacy 20) + (Persuasion 5) + (Feelings 17) = 42...kind of confused on where the extra five came from. Unless the Loyalty trait not only gave +5 to all the Speech skills, but it can also actively apply to this as well? In which case, neat.
She turns her nose up at you and harrumphs, "I wouldn't expect one of your status to understand the importance of one's reputation. You can't even wear your uniform correctly, and everyone already knows you don't belong within our ranks. Why don't you stop sticking your nose in matters far above your mental ability?"
You pause your reply and turn to stare at your brother. The bored expression hasn't left his face, but you can see something burning in the eyes he directs at Munagi. She doesn't seem to notice, smiling as she opens her bag and takes out an entire Chess Board, complete with black and white pieces.
"So, have you finally found-"
"No talking," she frowns at Yamato's words as he swiftly sets up his side of the board, "Play."
From there you witness what feels like an intense battle of wills. Both sides focusing their full attention on the board in front of them. Multiple students notice the exchange and come over to watch the two of them go at it.
[Empathy Check: Feelings: 15/15: Success! +10XP]
And through it all, Yamato isn't acting like his usual self. He was dismissive towards Munagi the entire time, but suddenly he's ready and able to accept her challenge? Something she said must have changed his mind...and you think it's what she said to you.
2. We can gather from this, at least if Munagi is actually considered competent, that the 'normal individual' probably isn't nearly as high in those skills.
Maybe. She could also have been given the position not out of skill, but being the one who wanted it most.
You were so busy wondering what had gotten into your bro, that you didn't even notice him win the game.
[Tactics: Alexander: 0/20: Fail!]
[Evasion : Trickery: 0/20: Fail!]
[Education: History: 0/20: Fail!]
And you can't even begin to understand how he won. All you know is that Munagi's white king is completely surrounded by his black pawns, and she's staring at the board with an increasingly confused expression.
Yamato gathers up his things, places them into the bag at his side, stands up from his chair and bows to Munagi, "Thank you for the match. Goodbye. Shall we go, Hayato?"
"Sure," you say doing the same as your brother. The two of you leave while Munagi is still trying to make sense of her loss, and the group of five students who were watching your brother begin to applaud.
1. She may have failed a few of her own checks on the matter as well.
2. We are leaving the library.
3. Five students are now applauding, either from seeing a good match or they don't like her. May be a mix of both. Though they aren't afraid of her, so she must not have that bad of a reputation.
Honestly, going by anime logic, the fact that she is relativity new to the realm of the rich may mean she also gets picked on by the old families. Maybe.
As you enter the hallway and start heading towards your dorm, you shoot a smile at your brother, "So, that's the Head of your Club, eh? I can see why you decided to join."
"The primary reason concerns time management," Yamato says while adjusting the bag to hold it over his shoulder, "The Chess Club merely requires I am present for any Mandatory Meetings, and register in any official competitions. Since we meet every Wednesday, it will only take up about 15% of my time. The other 85% can be dedicated to my studies, helping you with your studies, and searching for our parents. The Robotics Club would've required me to spend 50% of my time working on projects, and keeping all my classes at a certain grade would prove difficult if I wanted to help you with your classes as well."
You frown as you start thinking about how you should reply. You know that this was Yamato's decision, so it's likely one he's content with. But this is High School! He should be trying to be more social. You don't think he should be walking around with an entourage or anything, but he should at least be looking for people he can spend his free time with.
Besides you, as cool as you are.
But, again, this was his decision. Shouldn't you encourage him for making it? Or would it be better to push him to be more open to people?
1. Now, on one hand...this was Yamato's choice. He wanted to focus on searching for his parents, on helping Hayato study, while keeping his own studying up, and mechanically, this would benefit Hayato, far more that if he did otherwise, however...
2. Hayato is the big brother, and while he may appreciate what Hayato is doing, and know that he is content. He also want's Yamato to find other people. Those he can rely on, other than him. Yamato, if he doesn't try and open his wings will not have nearly as much emotional support.
Even if he makes friends, who never get involved with the 'main story'. Those moments outside of it, are what will make life worth living. It may make Hayato seem a bit pushy, but Yamato know's us enough to know that we are...probably. Hopefully.
I mean, unless his Feeling 0 will will make him misunderstand. But logically, he should know what Hayato is concerned about..
There bond, at least should make it clear.
3. Then their is the meta aspect of the fact, that while the narrative will no doubt pull Yamato in, no matter what. The more power of friendship he has, the safer he will be. Maybe.
1. Didn't know we could see Yamato's XP as well. Neat. Kind of surprised he only has a bit more than us.
2. We may not have focused on studying, but this was arguably better. More social interaction!
3. Yamato is already rank 2 with Muangi Rishi...well okay then. You know, in hindsight, probably shouldn't have been surprised. Though nice we can see his SLs! Or maybe its just the one's we know of, anyway.
I know this is part of IRL history. But I have a feeling Yato is somehow connected to this. Though he hasn't given a response, so maybe not.
1. This shows the difference between Hayato and Yamato's thought processes. Hayato's more emotional outburst, while Yamato, is more cool.
2. Also shows the similarities as they both acknowledge it was not 'right' or Yamato seems to imply it. So he does have his own sense of justice there.

Hmm, standard library behavior...guess the prestigious school's library is normal enough. Yay!
1. Well, he didn't say disaster, unless he was lying. Which probably not all things considered.
2. Oh? So whoever he did meet, he didn't regard as significant to remember the-
There it is. Looks like...Tsundere. Just appearance, and first words based.
1. Cosplay. Hmm, wonder if she actually would have been one in another vote.
2. Well, anyhow. Looks like Yato talked. Since their was no mention of transforming into gauntlets. Looks like he can talk even in normal glove form. Neat!
1. So he's still going to the next meeting. Presumably next weekend. Gotcha.
2. Also once again, expected as much.
1. Barter covers knowing who people are. Gotcha.
2. Apexi = Rising Vehicle Company. Recent merger, could be flavor text, could be something else.
Again Anime Trope, Rich Ojou Tsundere.
1. Head of the Club. Gotcha.
2. Hmm...not the most calm person in the world. Or apparently good at taking losses.
1. Welp, she may not like us very much.
2. Also (Diplomacy 20) + (Persuasion 5) + (Feelings 17) = 42...kind of confused on where the extra five came from. Unless the Loyalty trait not only gave +5 to all the Speech skills, but it can also actively apply to this as well? In which case, neat.
1. Callback to our choice on how to wear our uniform!
2. So is she just insulting us because we are outsiders, we have a reputation for not being the smartest. Or because of both.
Yamato is angry. His eyes burn, and its once again more proof that he has emotions.
2. We can gather from this, at least if Munagi is actually considered competent, that the 'normal individual' probably isn't nearly as high in those skills.
Maybe. She could also have been given the position not out of skill, but being the one who wanted it most.

1. Hayato doesn't mind how she acted, or at least moves past it. Makes sense.
2. Oh! So its a every Wednesday. Unlike the Martial Art Clubs every other weekend.
3. So weekday activity. Ah, that's why he's free this weekend. Hmm...he's intending to focus 85% on studying, Hayato's studies, and parent searching.
1. Now, on one hand...this was Yamato's choice. He wanted to focus on searching for his parents, on helping Hayato study, while keeping his own studying up, and mechanically, this would benefit Hayato, far more that if he did otherwise, however...

1. Yato was quiet on purpose. Though the History did strike a cord, he didn't want to say anything.
2. Got Munagi's personality in one. It's actually the reason she has a Rank 2 with Yamato. She got into her position due to 1) Starting the Club herself and 2) having the rep to do so. Yamato's the first rival she's had.
3. The 47 was my mistaken math. I'll make sure to fix it.
4. She's insulting you for both. The first cause it's obvious, the second is more her guessing and prejudices.

This....is going to be difficult. Yamato might going to be constantly getting angry by defending us from the snobs. The only thing I am glad for is how fast our studying going to be. This way we can develop emotion faster then teach them to our bro!

"Right," you write the name down in the journal your brother gave you, under your expert recreation of Hideyoshi's picture from the textbook on your right.
...Ok, it's not that great, but you'll know what it is! And that's what matters!
"That still doesn't mean it's right," your frown doesn't disappear as you shoot a glare at your drawing of Hideyoshi, trying to project your anger at his spirit. Who are you to say it doesn't work like that with Yato on your arms?

I like this slight change in dynamic. Usually it is the physically strong big brother who has to protect their nerdy little brother from people picking on them.
"The primary reason concerns time management," Yamato says while adjusting the bag to hold it over his shoulder, "The Chess Club merely requires I am present for any Mandatory Meetings, and register in any official competitions. I thinks more about knowing business and people related to it.

Training Per 1 Weekly AP Education Category (Debuff): 5 + 3 (Yamato Bond) = 8 Per AP. Art (Debuff): 5 Per AP. Practicality: 10 Per AP. Training Per 1 Weekend AP Education Category (Debuff): 8 x 2.5 = 20 Per AP. Art (Debuff): 5 x 2.5 = 12.5 Per AP. Practicality: 10 x 2.5 = 25 Per AP. Current Skill Levels Education Category: History 10, English 10, and Mathematics 10 Culture Category: Art 0 Invention Category: Practicality (Ford) 0. Potential Plan Week 2: 1 AP on Mathematics (10 --> 18), 1 AP on History (10 --> 18), 1 Weekend AP on Practicality (0 --> 25), and 1 Weekend AP on Art (0 --> 12.5). Week 3: 1 AP on English (10 --> 18) & 1 AP on Art (12.5 --> 17.5) - (Maybe Rounded Down). 1 Weekend AP on Mandatory Martial Arts Club, and 1 Weekend AP on ???.
At that point, we should have hit the initial 15 requirements, until they scale it up.
Of course, this is assuming we don't train with Yato who...has Education (Normal), Culture Category (Normal), and Invention (Normal). Going by this idea...we don't know what bonuses Debuff + Normal give, if any at all. But training with him, also trains his own abilities.
And since he can't exactly study on his own, that'll always be a net positive for him, even if he does get detriments for it.
The two of you leave while Munagi is still trying to make sense of her loss, and the group of five students who were watching your brother being to applaud.

No hunting for girlfriends. They will still materialize out of thin air, what with the genre we have chosen, but this way we get the weird ones. Case in point.
