Edward is doing this specifically and only because Inukar told him to for the rest of the term.
If you make it into the top Magical Theory class by acing the exam, you won't be losing out in terms of education quality at all, though.

Exams are much more tightly tied to skills than rolls. It's possible to flub an exam with bad rolls, but unlikely (exams are a series of dice with modifiers where the modifiers for high-scoring students are larger than the variation in the dice, and you'll be rolling 10+ dice for an exam. Studying - an Action that will open up in the Exam Period will also give you a number of rerolls as well.)

As an aside, I've just started Cultivators of Earth. It will take second fiddle to Vorstallen, and I do plan for a few fast initial updates there, but it'll eventually slow down quite a bit. But if you're into weird Xiaxia (and I intend this to be very weird) with a Western cultural focus rather than a Chinese one, this might be for you.

This has to do with the arguments Inukar and Edward Ulos has chanced on. To sum up from what he knows - Inukar thinks Edward is taking some kind of foolish risk, whereas Edward thinks Inukar is a cowardly old man. Helping Edward with his experiments will make Inukar see Ulos as more-or-less disregarding all his advice on how to move forward.

I want to take alchemy and runecraft anyway, so being forced to choose them doesn't seem like a big loss. Both Runecraft and Alchemy fits well in with our stats, and also seem useful for breaking the curse.
Main thing I'm concerned about is whether gaining some kind of bonuses from Edward later is worth damaging our relationship with Inukar right now. Accepting Edward's offer does seem like it'd be most in-character for Ulos at the moment, though.

edward vs inukar. inukar more socially and academically important/useful, edward probably keeps ulos pushing boundaries of what ulos can do. lotta failure in the future either way, since the d100 roll is far more important than ulos' actual skills rn
personally think edward-option leads more interesting quest, inukar-non-option kind of stagnant. what would we even spend the actions gained from declining edward on? probably more or less the same things.

As for the vote, after looking at the options and seeing that there is no basic/advanced ritual class, which is something we should probably take when available to get some knowledge on how to break ongoing rituals, doing some alchemy and runecraft probably is a solid way forward, especially if we ace the Magic Theory exam. As such,
