Peril's Origin - A Magical Girl Quest [Complete]

5.2 Unholy Friends
[] Dragul
[] Orux

For some reason, your first thought was to pay Dragul a visit. You actually have not seen him in a while, which might have played into it.

Now that you found him, there are two people watching a squad of other Demons exercise instead of one. His squad, that is. "Orux mentioned that you got a promotion. Congratulations?" It comes out as more of a question because you are still unsure what to make of Dragul, even after all those months.

"I see." The man himself casts a glance at you before grinning with a hint of sharp fangs. "He does speak of you as well. Did he mention that he himself was promoted, too?"

"He did." Technically, anyone who survived Valhalla got put in charge of a squad, with exception of Lu and yourself. "I don't think I like that staying alive is enough to rise through the ranks. Hell sucks."

Dragul just huffs and crosses his arms, a glare of his making a man and woman separate and go back to their exercises before any punches fly. "I believe I understand the sentiment, but it is how it is. Surviving separates you from the masses that are destroyed, be it through skill, strength, cunning, connections, or luck." If he sees your frown, he does not comment. "Now, what brought you here?"

"Nothing specific, just figured we could chat or something. I'm leaving soon."
"So I heard."

He stays quiet for a moment, then casts another glance your way. "In that case, I feel I should... thank you." You heard the pause he made, but stop yourself from commenting. He continues after a moment, carefully picking his words: "I learned a great deal under your tutelage, short as it was. Many of the lessons you taught me, be it in behaviour or advice, will take time to sink in properly, but I will put them to good use."

You are somewhat stumped; he is not even looking at you, still observing his troops, but there is no trace of that mocking tone he usually has. It is tempting to tease him about being embarassed, but you stop yourself. That works on Elisabeth, on Gabriel, sometimes even on Orux, but not on him. He might just take offense, so you decide not to ruin the moment. But it is difficult.

"It was nothing," is what you ultimately tell him. That is not even a lie, you barely did anything. "If it keeps you alive, that's good enough for me."

"I welcome it nonetheless." Dragul falls silent after that and eyes his underlings a little longer, then motions for them. "This group carries my blood. They welcomed the chance to be harder to kill and now belong to me, for the rest of their lives."

Great, there goes the mood. You do not dare ask if he actually explained the last part ahead of time, and he does not say. It is probably for the best, even if things are a little awkward right now.

Once it is clear you are not going to answer, he continues: "I offered Orux the same, but he refused. Said he wants his mind to be his own, even though you and I both know it is yours. He was always stubborn, but it only got worse ever since meeting you."

You can not help but snort, though the comment does worry you somewhat. Orux has five thousand years between this point and your time, and there are many dangers out there. This time it is you who glances at Dragul first. "Keep an eye on him anyway, please. I'd like him to make it."

You are interrupted as another pair starts shoving each other, but the man by your side simply clears his throat and both get back to their exercises. Another moment passes and Dragul huffs. "Under normal circumstances, I would simply accept without ever mentioning. Yet you did do more than was ever asked of you and I respect that, even if we are not particularly close."

Then he turns to you fully for the first time since you arrived, explaining the confusing statement. "I was meaning to offer you a favour, if at any point, in any time, you have need of something I can provide, I will." You blink at that. "Leaving debts unpaid is unbecoming, after all." You blink again, but it does make sense. Dragul continues before you can comment: "Were this anyone else, or any other situation, I would take watching over Orux as that favour and be done with it. But this is something I would have done anyway, with or without your prompting. So just this once, I shall be... accomodating."

There is that grin of his again. You can not help but sigh, but it is infectious. "Good to know. So I still have a favour open with you, no matter when?"

"Quite. I doubt I will remember you much off-hand, but...." He trails off with another huff and turns back to his soldiers. "I doubt I will ever forget you entirely. None of us will."

You can not help but huff in turn. "I'll take your word for it."

Silence descends with that while you mull over what you just heard. A Demon not taking advantage of the situation to get out of the favour he wanted to grant, that is unusual. But you think you understand what he wants to tell you, even if he does not say it. He appreciates you in his own way.

Now that you are back in your own head however, you can not help but wonder as you watch his squad. "How exactly does your blood make them 'yours', anyway? Does it outright control their minds to do as you want?"

The vampire by your side shrugs lightly. "From my own insight and what I saw so far, no. It is more of an adjustment of their minds, setting myself up as a figure of respect or worship or desire or whichever else will make them serve me. I believe it does also bend memories or beliefs, as long as it serves the same goal. They are technically still themselves and will refuse orders that blatantly disregard their own values, such as throwing themselves into certain death while I retreat, or to kill their comrades for no good reason."

That is a relief. It still strikes you as wrong, but there are degrees of wrongness and this is less so. "So they see you as whatever makes them loyal to you, but they can still refuse your orders."

"Correct."
"Huh."

You turn back to watching the bunch for a while longer. There really are all kinds of people; you do wonder where Dragul will be in five thousand years, considering that this kind of power can get one far if used right.

Chances are you will find out.

The time you spend with Orux afterward is decidedly different from your talk with Dragul. More quiet, and nice in general, from afternoon to evening.

Both of you are seated on top of the Keep's main spire to watch the sun set, with you in your boyfriend's lap. He has his arms wrapped around you snugly. His chest is warm and the steady thrum of his heart makes you sleepy. Actually staying awake to enjoy this is difficult, but you managed so far. Orux is just as quiet, has been for who knows how long, and enjoys you being there just as much.

Everything you could say has already been said. You know he hates having to let you go, but he will not stop you either. You hate having to leave, but that will not keep you here.

Nothing in life is ever easy. At least nothing that is worth the effort.

For you, assuming he survives until your time, it will be a few weeks or months at most. For him, it will be a time so long you can not even fathom it. To go this far just for you feels wrong; you do not have the right to demand this of him, and you honestly did not. But he seems willing to do it anyway.

"Orux?"
"Hm?"

He murmurs softly, apparently half-asleep himself. You can not help but smile and reach up to poke his cheek, even though what you just thought of gives you mixed feelings. "I was thinking, we won't see each other for a long time. I, I don't mind if you're with someone else in the meantime." That is a blatant lie, you do mind, and how you mind, but this does not matter. "It wouldn't be fair to-" "No."

He interrupts you quietly and you stop while he leans down to peck you on the lips. "I will never love anyone but you, for as long as I live."

You have no words.

He is being dumb and you know it, but it still makes your heart throb so painfully. Tears come and are wiped off gently, a kiss placed on your forehead.

He said he loves you. No one ever said that to you, not like this.

The only response you can give is to nestle back against him, and he lets you. Now you want to go even less, even though you know you must.

Maybe, you wonder idly before dozing off, it would be possible to take him to your time and have him live there. That would solve the entire problem. But you can not say if that is actually possible or if you should do it.

Over that contemplation, you fall asleep, staying that way until morning.

Two days left until the party. Who do you spend today with? Pick three:

[] Lucifer

[] Maya

[] Paoras

[] Elisabeth

[] Gabriel

[X] Gabriel
[X] Lucifer

The only people on the list I have any particular attachment to.

Well, voting seems to be done. And good thing that, seeing how I decided to take some time today and write.

Let's see, we have Maya and Elisabeth and... well, yeah. The tie does not even surprise me anymore. Paoras takes it away this time, mainly for thematic reasons. That way, I can have both Angels in the last of the three chapters. (Not really a spoiler at this point. The next chapter will have no vote, seeing how there are only two options left and two to pick).

5.3 Hearts in Darkness
[] Paoras
[] Elisabeth
[] Maya

Your day starts with visiting Paoras and whisking her away from her siblings. Not that she minded it much, considering that the twins are still teething and only Maya seems capable of bearing that for long.

There is not really anything to do for either of you right now, but a nice stroll through the recovering town is good enough. Paoras keeps holding your hand and wears a bright smile, even though there is little of interest here. People step aside and bow their heads from time to time, others offer words of respect that you figure are serious but empty.

Things are different now. When you met the girl walking by your side, she was barely stronger than yourself at the time; now she had a rather literal growth spurt in her powers and can take most anyone in a fight. Only her personality is still mostly the same, cheerful and easygoing. Thinking back to what Maya told you, it makes sense; Paoras is not even three, she needs time to develop.

"What are you thinking about?"

Her question draws you out of your contemplations and prompt a grin toward the shorter girl. "I just thought that next time we meet, you'll be an adult and we can talk about all kinds of things."

"I'm an adult already and we can talk about stuff now." She pushes out her cheeks in a decidedly childish pout, which only cements the fact she still is one.

"Yeah, no. You're too young to really get a lot of stuff." You pause and ruffle her hair while she keeps pouting, but then sigh. "It's just, five thousand years are a long time. I hope you don't change too much and that we're still friends then." She might not even be alive, is the other thought on your mind; you do not actually say that. "And Maya, too. I really want to see you and your mama then."

Paoras stopped with the pout by now and snatched your hand again, but she has turned more thoughtful as well. "I don't really get it," she admits while averting her gaze. "It doesn't matter how long, you will always be my friend. I love you, and Mama loves you, too. Why do you worry about that?"

She is so earnest that it almost shatters your heart, the words she says so casually only hurting more. How did that innocence survive through Valhalla?

Your chest throbs quietly and you squeeze Paoras' hand as best as you can. Maybe she is right. "Yeah, I guess I worry too much. And thank you. I love you, too." It is easier to say to her, the meaning different even though Orux said the exact same words to you yesterday. She is like the little sister you never had, a thought you decide never to share with Maya; if you did, she might try to adopt you... or marry your father.

Your friend giggles and squeezes back without saying anything else for now.

Being with her is different than most of the others, you realise after a time. She has no ulterior motives, no hidden thoughts, no opinions on difficult matters yet. In this, Paoras holds a purity that is rare among demonkind, a society where almost all individuals are born as adults.

Looking at it that way, you can not help but feel sad that this purity will fade in time. She will always remain your friend no matter what kind of person she turns out to be, but you still hope that her heart stays as it is now.

Maybe you should do more with children. You did consider becoming a teacher of some kind, so it is definitely in the cards.

Then again, being a Magical Girl and a time traveler means you might not have to work a normal job in the future. The capability to go to the past and put historic events on film is something you imagine many people will pay a lot of money for.

But that is a train of thought better left for later. At this point, you pull your friend along as an idea presents itself. "How about I teach you some games I used to play?"

It is nothing world-changing, but it does not need to be. You are both happy to spend time like that, and there is no more needed to make the morning enjoyable.

After waving goodbye to your youngest friend, you wander over to talk to Elisabeth... and are roped into an impromptu tea party, complete with some kind of pastry that is only a little sweet and goes well with the bitter tea.

"It has been half a year since you came to us," the woman in question muses while the both of you relax in your chairs. Spoons clink softly in the steaming mugs as both of you stir the liquid. "I admit that I initially expected to lose you like most, not to see you off like this." Meaning, she thought you would die. Which, thinking back, you understand.

It still makes you scowl for a moment, but you swallow the comment with a mouthful of tea. Tea that immediately burns its way down your throat and makes you wince. Elisabeth chuckles and sips from her own cup. "My, it is a pleasant surprise; I get so few of those."

The cup clinks down on the table and your friend slash commander leans back with a sigh. She actually takes off the blindfold normally covering her eyes and smiles softly. "Half a year to see you rise from just another soldier to one of the greatest warriors active outside of Hell. Perhaps the greatest one, even."

She makes a pause that you use to chime in after a quick mental count: "Nine months, actually. Roughly. I spent three further back to practice with my spell."

"I see." Her brows furrow even as she says it and the flames in her eyes shine a little brighter, but you decide not to mention it. Elisabeth takes the new information in stride and samples one of the pastries with an appreciative sound. "I admit," she continues after swallowing, "I feel at ease around you, friend. It is good to have someone I can speak honestly with. You do not adhere to social structures unless you have to, and you are quite the honest soul. I will miss times like these dearly."

You can not help but agree. Elisabeth only really warmed up to you recently, but you saw enough to know she is genuine. "Same here, but don't worry. I'm sure you will find other people like that in time." You can not be that unique, at least not in those traits.

Elisabeth merely shrugs before taking another sip. "I hope so but fear it will be a while. While I have you however, there was something I wondered." You make a noise while chewing a pastry of your own and she continues: "Now that I saw what heights you reached, I understand the choice, but it still puzzles me. Why did you follow the path of the warrior instead of the battlemage? Your spells are quite potent, you possess decent knowledge of Brand Craft, and with such an incredible amount of mana to yourself, you could have gone far"

It makes sense that she wonders about that; Lu did ask you something quite similar some time ago, too. You finish your pastry and take another sip of tea while considering how to respond.

"You have anyone you look up to? Someone who'd you want to be like if you could?" All you get is a hesitant headshake, and thankfully no indication that she thought like that of Argus. "Well, I do. Back in my time, there are many Magical Girls around. I'm not going to pretend I'm the strongest and-stop looking like that, I mean it."

Elisabeth is regarding you with an expression that is full of doubt and shock in equal measure. "N-Not the strongest? Just how powerful are they?"

Now it is for you to shrug. "Not sure how I'd rank, really. I do think I'm among the stronger girls, but definitely not the strongest." Of course if anyone comes to rub herself being stronger into your face, chances are you will snap at them. But it is a matter of fact that you can admit freely. Now for where you were going with this...

"But that's beside the point. On the very top stand the Goddess Four, Magical Girls Goddess Gold, Grey, White, and Red. Each of them is powerful, and I don't even know how to describe it." You do not know much about their specific powers, it was always more about what they represent. "Each of them could tear through Charon's Keep and the entire garrison on her own, and it wouldn't even be difficult."

Elisabeth blanches slightly as she tries, and likely fails, to imagine the kind of combatant it takes for that. Even you could not fight everyone here at once, but they could.

You continue once she nods, accepting what you told her. "And of those four, I always admired Goddess Grey the most. Don't ask me why, I just did. So when you gave me the choice, I could only think how I can try being like her, a great and skillful warrior. So I went for it."

"Hm." Your friend mulls all that over while emptying her cup and you do the same, only for her to refill both. "I think I understand. And you idolise this woman even now?" She gets a nod and smiles. "I see. She must be quite impressive. I will commit this to memory, and if I manage to live to your time, I will behold such greatness myself."

"From what I heard and saw, I know you will like her." You try not to think about whether she will actually make it, and likewise do not mention that Grey is aligned with the Unified Darkness in your time. You never found out why, anyway.

Elisabeth's flames spark and she chuckles. "I am looking forward to the day humanity joins us all."

With your afternoon concluded and your belly full of tea, you had been planning to spend the evening with Maya. Thank her for being there for you when you needed someone in the beginning, and for treating you like one of her own despite never having to.

Then Maya happened to your plan.

As in, you were manhandled the moment you walked through the door, placed in a cheerful Succubus' lap, shushed, fed, and cuddled. Not a single word was spoken the entire time, she merely kept you in her arms and stroked your head. All her other children played around you or came to join for a while, but then left you be again.

The few times you actually get to look at her directly, she has a serene smile that is on the verge of breaking at all times. Her arms shake the tiniest bit from time to time, but she says nothing. And neither do you.

You did not expect to feel so devastated about having to leave her, or that you only realise that now.

If Paoras is like a little sister to you, then Maya is like a mother. She looked after you where she had no need to, simply because she could. You might be in a far worse mental state if not for her and her kindness. She is dear to you in a different way the others are.

Maybe you would not even mind if your father got married again; he never had any more than casual interest in other women up until the day you left, but perhaps Maya can win him over if she wants to. Would you really mind?

These thoughts keep wandering through your head, going in circles without a clear answer. In the end, you figure it would not be so bad.

Lu will not be there in your time, but it is unclear with Maya. You so hope she will and, some time into the evening, you tell her that the only way you can get away with; by turning around in her embrace and hugging her tight. She takes a moment until she squeezes you in response, which is all the indication you have for her surprise.

That day ends with you in a cuddlepile full of half-Elves of various sizes and appearances. It is cozy and, just like the previous day, the atmosphere gets to you and makes you sleepy.

Something you are not sure you imagine is a whispered "Thank you" as you are already drifting off to sleep.

[X] Lucifer

[X] Gabriel

5.4 Angelic Antitheses
[] Lucifer
[] Gabriel

"Hey, Lu!"

Your friend calmly completes her sequence before turning to you, which only makes your grin widen. "Think of something we can do later. I'm going to visit Gabriel now, bye!"

You call for Voyage before she can get out a word, waving cheerfully while your dumbfounded friend stares after you. Yes, you went looking for her first thing in the morning just to do that.

Valhalla looks much the same as last time, though you continue to be in this weird mood. So you pop into the same courtyard you appeared in last time, once again startling a squad of exercising Valkyries. "Heya! Gabriel is still around, right?" You already make sure your presence does not scare them and find three dozen blades directed your way, but you ignore that. "Someone go and get her."

What follows is not much different than last time, although you can not help but hum cheerfully; it unnerves the Valkyries to no end, which only makes doing this funnier.

Gabriel arrives much the same as last time, putting her subordinates at ease while you wave at her. She has her game face on, though not for long; you wander over and take her hand. "A word, if you would. Voyage."

She does not resist, merely huffs once the two of you are in roughly the same spot on Milidia you were last time. You can not help but try picturing the shelter you built with Lu again, even though the entire area is different now. "Was that really necessary?"

Only now do you calm yourself and grin up at her. "Yep. I didn't really have an excuse to fetch you this time, so this was my only choice. Just tell them I wanted to talk about something regarding the Dragon, or whatever. You're better at this than I am."

Your friend huffs and shakes her head at that. "I sometimes have trouble believing that. You make leading and giving orders look so easy. I can take charge, but it never came easily to me."

"And yet you're the actual leader here. I don't even want to be in charge of anything, I just go with the flow." You huff as well before changing the subject. "I'm leaving tomorrow and wanted to say goodbye."

"Ah."

Her expression falls just like that and she fidgets a little, her game face completely gone. "I see. It is, I, well, I did not expect it to be so, ah, so soon." The way she stumbles over her own words is actually kind of cute, but you do not make fun of her this once. Now is not the time.

"Yeah, it is time I leave." You can not help but avert your own gaze at that for a moment, once again hit by just how long it will be before you see anyone again. Gabriel in particular worries you because she basically has no friends and will find none. On the other hand, Lucy will be there in time... and you are definitely going to meet them both. "But don't worry, I'm going to drop in once in a while."

And just like that, her frown breaks in favour of a bright smile. "Really? Oh, what a relief! Five thousand years is far worse to wait for than a few hundred years at a time." You can not help but grin in turn, though she does not see it yet. "The time will pass quickly and then-" Now she does. "Adelheid? What are you grinning for?"

"Oh, nothing important. You just keep reminding me of a big, bright puppy with how your mood shifts."

Gabriel grows a little sheepish at that and fiddles with her armour's clasp. She does not meet your eyes as she speaks: "Well, you are my friend, and I do not want to pretend to be someone I am not around you."

Now it is you who is embarassed, if only a little. "Yeah, uh, I guess that makes sense. It's still a little weird to see the great Gabriel being this awkward around people." After how far the media hyped her up the few times she visited Earth, you can not help but be thrown off by it still. At least right now, where you have time to think properly. Or rather, where your mind is not occupied by something else.

"It is how it is," she mutters softly and shrugs. "I do not even know when I started to stand out, but everyone expects me to be a pillar of stability now. I can not let them down."

"You can do what you want," is your only response, one eyebrow raised while Gabriel wilts.

"Except I can not. I told you, I am not like you. Simply rejecting peoples' expectations because I do not feel like it is not something I can do. They depend on me, friend. Shirking my duties or wandering off to do my own thing are unacceptable!"

Her vehement response prompts a sigh from you and a despondent huff from her. You are not going to change Gabriel's mind on this, you can tell. And while you do want to keep arguing, this is not the time. Not when this is the last time she gets to see you for at least a few hundred years, depending on when you will drop by to visit her.

"Alright, fine. Then your duty as my friend, right now, is to think of something we can do together for the next few hours. Pick a place as well if you want."

You have to grin again when that makes her notably hesitate. "Anything?" You nod and she lowers her head in thought. "Anything...."

After a minute or two, she looks up, apparently having had an idea.

"I feel like my life keeps looping."
"And what exactly are you grumbling about? You gave me the choice."
"And for some reason we do the exact same thing Gabriel wanted to do, too?"
"Too bad."

Lu is obviously completely unrepentant. She grins, too. You frown up at her, but the grin only widens.

"You can not blame me for making the same choice without knowing. Flight is a relaxing pastime to us Angels, just like exercising your legs, ah, 'taking a walk' is for you." She squeezes you around the waist, where her wing is holding on tightly.

Metatron's Divide lies below you, scarred now from the battles of two Archangels instead of one. Metatron himself who cleaved the mountain in two, and Gabriel who ruptured its side while fighting in the distance. "Alright, I guess. I feel like I've done enough of this over the last week to last me a lifetime."

Lu just huffs at that. "You are not a passive person, so of course this would bother you. Especially after I drilled into you to practice every day; you have not, and now you feel antsy."

She got you there, you have not done any practice for the last two days. And you are feeling a little antsy, like wanting to do something beside being carried around and talk. Yet it is all you can do right now.

Silence falls for a short while, with Lu maneuvering the currents expertly. Flying, you found, is kind of fun. Less so than it could be if you could actually do it yourself instead of being a passenger, but even then.

It is time to change the subject, if just to break the silence. "I was planning to drop by once in a while, spend some time with you. I thought maybe I could bring you to my time, too?" You do not say that it is because Lu will not live so long, that you want her to see it nonetheless. She probably picked up on it anyway.

"I would like that."

And that is all she says, as quiet as she usually is. Which means you have to carry the conversation for now. "But I need your word that you don't pick a fight with anything that can kill you. I'm not going to let you break the timeline."

No response. You poke her side for a few moments but she does not comment on that, either. Her jaw works tonelessly and you can tell her eyes go to you from time to time. This is odd, but you let her. Whatever Lu wants to say, she will say sooner or later.

It takes a few minutes until she finally does speak. "I greatly enjoyed the time we got to spend together. In all these centuries I was alive, I never realised that I have yet to truly live; that only became clear after I met you. I will try to live more, from now on."

It is you whom the words fail this time, at first. With every of your friends you speak to, you feel a little heavier. Each one only drives home that this is really happening. Your journey is about to end, and you are going home.

You miss home now. The conflicting feelings almost physically hurt.

Digesting all of it takes a little while; once you are done however, you can not help but wonder. "Did you think of anything to do yet?"

For some reason, this makes her chuckle. "Yes and no. The final part of that realisation I had was actually brought on by Paoras, and just yesterday."

That is odd. "What did she do? And why were you talking to her?"

Lu shrugs, which you feel more than see, and nimbly dodges a bird that seemed uncaring of the much larger fliers it was about to crash into. "She looks for me to chat from time to time, and I know you know that." Right, you forgot you actually saw them together sometimes. "That aside, I was talking about it with her yesterday. Now that I know my life will end in time...."

She trails off and you are tempted to distract her, but then her stoic facade falls away, broken by a smile. "Her youth was quite apparent. But she got the gist of it, that I consider new experiences of various kinds. So she propositioned me."

Okay, you must have misheard that. "Come again?"

Her smile only grows wider. "She propositioned me. As in, offered to have sex. Not a moment of consideration for what she and I are."

So you did not mishear. A sigh makes its way out of your throat while Lu laughs about it. "Okay, not what I expected we're going to talk about. But yeah, Pao is a sweet one; what did you say?"

"That I will consider it. Then I went and talked to her mother, so she can get those ideas out of her head." At this point Lu actually shakes her head and glances down at you. "Then Maya propositioned me, too."

Now you are laughing; that sounds much like her to do. Lu just grumbles and shakes her head. "That woman could be insane enough to bear a child of my kind."

"You didn't tell her no," you guess immediately. "Didn't you say that Angels and Demons don't fuck?"

She counters at once: "I said it is generally a revulsing idea." Then she grins. "And as I am already fallen, I am starting to wonder why I should care about that. So I might take them up on it, both of them. The company might be nice."

"Despite it being revulsing?" You can not help but grin back.

"Did you ever hear of the term 'hate sex' before?"
"Then how about ringing up Leliel?"

Your mouth snaps shut with a click, but the words are already out. You got into the banter and it slipped through. Lu's baffled stare holds for a long moment, but then she huffs. "Well played. And no, I doubt she would be terribly interested."

You both snicker about that and fall back into a comfortable silence. You do not dwell on what she told you; her and Maya are both adults, they know what they are doing. Paoras... you are not going to think about that, she is at least physically mature.

The silence holds for a while, with Lu speeding up and passing the sea before long. You do not question where she is taking you, merely watch the countryside.

Until the crater you made two weeks ago comes into view. A lot of it is still barren after it was torn, with the lowest parts now being filled by various streams and creaks, and even some waterfalls flowing out of the walls.

Without being half delirious, and when disregarding just how this place came to be, it actually appears a bit majestic. And to think that you created that...

"I wish I could have seen it myself." Lu is looking down at it. "Power so great as to do something like this, I am certain it was a sight to behold."

Despite being a little sheepish about how far you went overboard, you manage to give her a flat stare. "You're not getting a demonstration."

She just laughs, and that is that.

The day goes on like this and eventually ends. Tomorrow, you will leave.

Now that you look back on it, your time here at Charon's Keep was not so bad. Or maybe that is just because you made it through the bad parts. Either way, you would not miss these months for the world.

Turning sideways to watch Orux' sleeping face, you can not help but smile. It really was not so bad. You can only hope to meet them all again in your time; them and Lucy, too. You definitely have to remember to look for everyone when you are back.

Yet something feels off, but you can not put your finger on what it is.

Ignoring that for now, you close your eyes and make to find some sleep.

Tomorrow is your last day at the Keep. With a party just for you in the afternoon. Though that means that you still have the morning to do something.
