Yeah, I can see why people were pretty pissed at the whole situation. I mean we pretty much get sucker punched by an invasion from nowhere and at the worst possible time when neither Thor nor Odin are around to help with Thor deciding that now was a really great time for a damn vacation with Asgards best warriors. Then to throw it all off we not only get Thanos but he also happens to have a freaking Infinity Stone but for some reason comes up with a really goddamn stupid plan to gain Asgard as an ally.

I say really goddamn stupid plan in that he literally could have just asked instead of doing this whole convoluted bullshit plan that was completely necessary. And now it's looking like game over thanks to some really bad rolls solely because of a bad choice we had no way of knowing would lead to these consequences. I mean for fucks sake, this all happened just because we put a branch on some world. I mean I wouldn't have minded some excitement but this whole thing just seemed way too much.

Though what really freaking sucks about this whole thing is that it does feel like a punishment for us succeeding too well. We become amazingly successful and end up creating a universe wide financial system, get our damn home world wrecked.

I feel ya, man. I feel ya.

That was a beautiful time
Well, if we are forced to restart from a loss again, like I said earlier, I would recommend starting during Avengers, right when Hulk frees Loki of the mind control he is under (Puny God). We can also choose what magic/stuff we learned throughout our childhood which will be summarized and given to us by starting as an adult. I would recommend we do defensive, fire, and healing.

That way, we can be a hero. And also don't have to worry about Odin shitting the bed.

Plus we can save Frigga in Thor 2.

Turn Seventeen Results Pt. 5
Loki swallows in trepidation, hoping this goes well.

"Prove to me that my parents are safe. Call off your soldiers.. And I will do as you say." Loki says, hoping to get something, some kind of hint of how Thanos is communicating with his people. Thanos gives him a sad, understanding smile.

"I understand your feelings of worry Loki, and I can guarantee they are safe. As long as you come with me." Thanos speaks in a kind tone. Loki nods and licks his lips. This doesn't seem to be working.

"I will." Thanos subtly presses a button somewhere near his waist, indicating to Loki the location of his communication device. With a deep breath, Loki strikes.

Binding Roll:
83+3+14=100
61+3=64, 164

Thanos Willpower Roll: 1000+

Combat rolls:
57+31=88+10+5+5=108-25=83
48+60+10=118-3=115-30=85

Loki grabs for the device while Thanos' senses are thrown off, but Thanos seemingly shakes off the magic, instantly, is quick to intercept his attack and slap him far away. Lucky for Loki, in it's the direction he wants to go, anyways.

"Loki, Loki...you disappoint me. I thought you understood, that I had gotten through to you." Thanos' soft face turns hard and rough. "It seems I must consider other options. Or maybe...you may be a lost cause. I--" Loki doesn't hear anymore than that as he takes off as fast as he can towards the palace and towards his father's room, where he knows his parents are.

Peculiarly on the way there, Loki hears first steps, so he slows his run, for only a moment, to observe. Walking towards him is what appears to be mercenary, though it's a bit more decorated than the others, probably their leader. On him, the mercenary leader has Gungnir (Odin's trusty spear), Hofund (Heimdall's sword), and an unknown Scepter that glows blue. The mercenary leader approaches Loki and stops about thirty meters away. Loki goes to pounce on him, when he speaks in a deep, scrambled voice.

"Loki of Asgard. You have a choice set before you. You can attempt to take me down, and disarm me of my weapons, or...you can save the lives of your parents. I have inflicted upon them both, grievous and mortal injuries, and if you do not hurry and give them medical aid, they will perish. I lay before you, on the ground next to me, medicine that can stabilize them and allow them to live long enough for medical treatment. But only if it is brought to them immediately. As you are Asgardians, I have been...thorough in my attack, and thus every second counts. So choose. Fight me or save your parents. I will honor either decision."

He then bends down and places a liquid, the medicine no doubt, on the ground next to him.

"How do I know I can trust you." The words flow instantly from Loki's mouth. The mercenary leader only tilts his head.

"You have no logical reason to. But time is wasting and your parents are dying. Choose Loki of Asgard."

What does Loki choose?

[] Believe the mercenary leader and take the medicine to his parents
[] Attack him. He's lying.

I really can't state how fucking stupid this whole thing was on Thanos' part. He not only spent an insane amount of money on this whole thing but took an extremely unnecessary risk in that if he got discovered it would undo any gains and absolutely ruin the relationship with Asgard because of such a massive deception and the whole you know attacking Asgard itself thing. And to make matter worse he then decides to ditch the plan and try to take Asgard for 'reasons' despite the fact that it would mean that all of Asgard would never accept his rule and that Loki would hate his guts for the whole thing and he'd need to deal with an entire army of Asgardians and Thor and the rest of Asgards best warriors as well. And that's not taking into account releasing Hela who would likely have Asgard at her back this time if she acts against Thanos.

I mean this doesn't actually seem to make sense for Thanos once you think about it. Thanos may have come up with a crazy plan that involved wiping out half his planet but he came up with it at a time where things were honestly that bad and didn't think of anything else and ended up feeling vindicated that when his world was destroyed. Here not only did Thanos come up with a different solution proving that it wasn't necessary he for some reason came up with a stupid unnecessary plan but for some reason didn't take into account other outcomes like the plan potentially going too well despite him supposed to be a genius. Worse in that he suddenly decided to take Asgard for 'reasons' and the QM even admitting that Thanos has no idea what he is doing.

I'm not even sure why Thanos even wants to take Asgard or to just 'conquer' for conquering sake despite it not seeming like something he would be interested in. It just feels like he got the villain ball. Also the QM throwing a stupidly overpowered enemy at us seems over kill and a really questionable decision on their part.

So Thanos wants Odin's knowledge and treasure... He decided to do this when he figured out the Thor and Odin weren't here.
Mind stone is answer to everything.

Thanos Willpower Roll: 1000+
God Fucking Dammit!
Glad we didn't chose martial or we would have been dead.

No win situation, Loki has to take the stone or Thanks enslaves him, but Hela gets released.

Edt: That was the opposing roll, if we had chosen to bind his eyes shut the opposing roll would have been 60 instead of 70+ willpower which might have gone differently. @Sanas22

Nah you're 'punished' for trusting Thanos. Not an actual punishment but...like that's the catalyst. You went to his homeworld and then met with him. When Odin was sleeping.

To respond to the other deleted post....Thanos is insane. Legitimately. Like...that's his characterization. That's why the methods he uses are insane. But effective. And the whole thing makes sense...he's just also insane. I will stress it again.

Thanos wants Loki and he wants Asgard. Easiest way (since he cannot just ask, Odin won't take him seriously) is to prove himself in some way but as an ally. Kill 2 birds with one knife and Thanos has the plan. Thor and Odin and Tyr and whatnot will succeed and Heimdall will be killed, crippling Asgard in case of them being an enemy, since the Bifrost is very awesome. Raid the vault for the awesome secret stuff and it's even better.

But when he sees them losing. With no Thor and no Odin. He's like...well I can get Odin's secrets. And get Loki to understand (because insane) but I need to reveal myself. Only thing better than eliminating Odin (which is a dream and a longshot) is learning to become as powerful as him.

Alas it may or may not happen now, but that was the thinking. A bit premature but so is killing half of everyone to save resources.

So.. the only option is to one shot this Merc... And blitz all way...
So who all wanna pool all their bonuses together?

Perfect... Say how much time is wasted if we one shot this guy?

An actual oneshot is like a second. But any fight where you just win...probably minutes. And note he does have three separate powerful weapons to boost him. And there's something else you don't know about him, but I can't divulge, that would affect the combat roll.

Edit: can we away him to switch sides? We do have more money than Thanos?

You could always try it. But the guy did just attack Asgard and its queen and king so excuse him if he's a bit skeptical.

[X] Attack him. He's lying

We can not varify if he is lying or not right now but we do know the artifacts are real and need to get them back. Hela is coming and we need to grab as much power as possible and leave Asgard.

[X] Attack him. He's lying

All of our clever ideas and planning really gets moot in the face of the dice. So, let's do this and find out what happens. If Loki loses, we can ask for another reboot with yet more knowledge of the game and its mechanics.

Pardon him from life.

Pls read what QM said... The Merc holds 3 weapons and the boosts that comes with them. That is an Infinity Stone, Odinforce (Gungnir), and Bifrost (Hofund)...

No reboot we ride this out too the very end. Even with knowledge people made all the same mistakes like reaching for shiniest without putting in the effort for stat grinding.

Edit: @Sanas22 and what would you have us do allow Thanks to win ad use the mind stone to gain a slave?

To be fair, nothing in the option to meet Thanos had him coming to Asgard- he was the new king of his own planet and Loki was seeking to expand into his planet. I had assumed we would be meeting him at his home. So, Odinsleep didn't matter.

To be absolutely fair...Loki's pretty good in combat with Nerve Strikes. And hasn't really gotten like...beaten or demolished by Thanos in any way in combat because of it.

Also the only real mistake was talking to Thanos.

I thought we were meeting him at PF or on the Titan branch.

Fair point that it isn't mentioned. But note he asked to meet with Loki, not Phoenix Financial. Also Phoenix Financial HQ is on Asgard. It's the more likely place.

About that, making the Merc change his loyalties?
