Would You Look At The Time! (Worm/Ben 10)

Another thing to think that we should do after we find a way to cloak the Omnitrix signal (or whatever it is that they are using to track us) is a suit and mask to hide our identity so that even if we un-transform in the middle of battle our identity will be safe.

And on that topic I was thinking of black and green for a costume, I am not a fashion person but i think that those color mesh well and that they are good colors for an alien theme.
What I was thinking for an outfit is the following:
- A white mask with black trim and glowing green "eyes", maybe styled after XLR8's face
- A white Hoodie
- A pair of black jeans
It's a simple outfit, but would look fine and would be within Taylor's budget. Not to mention that without the mask it wouldn't be obviously a costume.
We also need to figure out what we are going to call ourselves, and if we are going to use one name as our cape name, or go with a different name for each alien, as a bit of obfuscation.
I'm not sure identity protection is worth it. Extra-terrestial enemies aren't going to obey it(and they can track us), there's a not-insignificant chance someone will figure out and spill our identity thanks to the camp thing(idiots exist!), and there's the whole "need to get dressed" thing that makes everything more complicated.

Unlike Ben we don't have the benefit of constantly moving around the USA. Meaning that the moment they realize Taylor is located semi-permanently in the area, every goddamn being that wants the Omnitrix is going to descend on Brockton Bay like a horde of locusts. I want shielding so Taylor has a place she can actually hide and rest.

Mind, I think I remember something in Ward about not wearing a costume means you're signalling you won't "play the game"/saying the "unwritten rules" don't apply to you?

Vaguely speaking of which, I finally found the image I have been wanting to use for Taylor from the beginning.

It was buried in the depths of my imgur.

Updated character sheet with the new image.

As is obvious, ignore the incorrect watch in the image (and you dont have the jacket yet either)

Without the mask, we are just a random kid. Ditch the hoodie and there is even less chance of being associated. We might be able to make the mask foldable or something, so it is easier to hide. The main reason a mask is important is because otherwise what will we do if we want to talk to people after a fight? Without a mask we basically have to leave a fight the instant we get close to having to transform back.

I do agree that making sure the omnitrix cant be tracked is more important though.

I meant that extra-terrestial enemies aren't going to follow the rules. They don't care about secret identities, and they have enough advanced tech that identifying us wouldn't be hard. And the whole thing with the Omnitrix crash-landing, followed by the robot attack? Very public, not hard to figure out/guess that one of the campers is the one being searched for, and there's always one idiot who'll spread that realization. And we'd have to get dressed before acting as hero, slowing us down, otherwise reverting back to human instantly blows the secret identity out of the water.

Basically, I'm arguing that we might/will have to accept that a secret identity is not something Taylor will likely to have long-term.

Maybe the aliens wont care but the gangs and villians here will care about that, we wont be fighting just aliens and if they find out about our identity we are going to have a big target in our heads. Another big target in our head i mean.

As for the time capitanwolf suggested a mask and a hoodie and black pants, discard the pants keep the hoodie and the mask, and done it should take no time to put on a hoodie and a mask two minutes tops if we have to take them out of our bag.

To clarify, I'm saying that we're likely going to be outed anyway, simply from enemies not caring and tracking us down. And we can't forget that the Omnitrix is currently rather big, bulky and strange looking, while having the same symbol as that of the "strange capes". I'm honestly surprised no one has commented on it yet.

If we can completely hide the Omnitrix's energy signature and figure out how to change it's appearance to something less blatant? Then yeah, secret identity becomes something worth considering. Probably won't hold up long-term, but likely worth it to give us breathing room early in Taylor's career.

And I see having to carry around clothes constantly to be a downside and clue.

But yeah, until we have a way to plausibly have a secret identity, I think it's better to consider how to live without one. What measures can we make? How do we keep Danny safe? Our education is going to get disrupted, what alternatives are there? What relationship are we going to have with the PRT/Protectorate/Wards/New Wave?

Alright, work on the update is starting. It'll probably be out sometime this evening or the middle of the day monday

A quick and dirty rescue
"Damn it Khyber!" The Machancial form of... Crab, you think is what he was called, cries out, snapping the gun in his hand up to the Green Alien, before it snaps over to you, and then to Glory Girl, and back to Khyber, you guess, again.

Khyber simply shrugs, looking completely nonplussed at having a gun pointed at him. "S'nothin personal Kraab. You know the biz. You know my prices. The Council was willing to pay everything I asked, and then some."

"You don't have to do this, once I get the Bounty, I can pay off-" Crab starts to say, before you hear Glory Girl next to you.

"Fast girl, get the civilians out of here." She hisses, and a quick snap of your head makes it clear that while she isn't aware of their attention turning to her, they are aware of her.

You barely get the time to open your mouth, even at the speeds you move before the girl throws herself forward. Reaching out, you pull the girl to your chest, and grab hold of the librarian, before rocketing out of the library. Screeching to a stop, the Librarian stumbles out of your grasp, looking more than a little nauseous, but the other girl holds tight to you.

She's crying. "T-thank you." She whispers out, still holding tight as she can against you.

"Y-your welcome." You say unsure of how to get the girl off of you. You've never really had to deal a lot of with crying people before. Neither you or your old best friend were much for tears, and you don't want to try prying her off, especially not with your claws. "Ah... if you could please let go?" You ask, hands just vaguely waving around, not ever coming to touch the girl. "I... I've got to go and help Glory Girl."

Seven seconds pass, before the girl's chest stops shuddering, and she looks up at you with big green eyes. "Who are you?"

[ ][Cape]How do you answer?

"I'll never forget you." The Girl says, rubbing at her eyes with one hand as she steps back.

With a nod, you zoom back inside the Library. It's only been a couple of seconds, and already so much within has changed. The Green Alien, Khyber, you remind yourself, stands in the center of the atrium, hands up in a loose fighting stance. Glory Girl is to his left, and Crab to his right. "Look girlie. You're out of your league, and you're out of your business." Khyber says, "The Hostages are gone, and this doesn't concern either you or the Wielder of the Omnitrix. Just go about your way, and I'll go about mine. Sound good to you, wielder?"

Somehow, despite the fact that you have come up directly behind him, Khyber is the first to have noticed you. "You ain't bad either, kid." Khyber continues. "You came up with a plan and put it into action quite quickly, chose a good alien for what you needed to do, and proceeded to pull it out quickly and without a lot of fanfare. I'd give it a four out of ten." He gives a slight shrug, still seeming completely relaxed.

"Two biggest issues however. You actually thought that Kraab here would have been fast enough to stop you from pulling the hostages out. He's got a lot of machine in him, but he's got nothing on a Kineceleran like you are now. Your second mistake was not keeping third parties out of your business. Maybe one day you'll be truly worth hunting."

Khyber is directly in front of you, and he's facing away from you even. To his left is Glory Girl, and you can practically see the way that she's readying herself to pounce.

On his right is Crab, who seems more frustrated at this than anything, but now that he's seen you, he's turning his gun towards you.

What is your plan from here out?

Sorry for the sort of short update, you achieved your mission relatively easily, so you have to re-strategize.

[X][Cape]Zero-One
Might as well double down on what we went for before. Simple tends to be the best way to make superhero names and myth refrences are trash tier hero names unless it is actually their name, like Thor.

[x][Cape]Kinetic

Too bad Velocity is taken.

[x] Retreat
-[x] Run. Run fast.

We've already established Taylor as someone who doesn't like fighting. Now that the hostages are safe, just get out of there.

[X][Cape]Zero-One

[X] Take down Crab
-[X] Check with Khyber, to make sure he hasn't actually committed any crimes on Earth.
-[X] If Khyber is technically innocent, then having the three of you work together is fine.
-[X] If he has, not much you can do right now besides not being an easy target.
-[X] With your speed, try to immobilize or distract Crab.
-[X] If that isn't good enough, then time to test out superspeed punching.

Good to know. And something else: Kineceleran claws are sharp, but we're not sure how sharp, so their effectiveness against Kraab is unknown. But Khybers knife on the other hand...

@Lunaryon, is Khybers knife still jammed into Kraabs claw, and if not, where is it?

Also, anyone got any good names? The best I can come up with is "Kinetic Five"(Connect Four) and "Zero to Five"(9 to 5, reference to acceleration), the 5 coming from the fact it's her fourth alien, so 1+4 = 5.

[X][Cape] XLR8

Might as well go with a classic name

[X] Take down Crab
-[X] wait until Glory Girl or Crab attacks
-[X] Stay mobile, prioritize dodging Crab's attacks over getting hits in
-[X] Attack spots that look less armored, like joints
-[X] Try to create openings for Glory Girl or Kyber to attack

Asking Kyber if he has committed crimes is pointless, since he would have no reason to tell the truth if he has. To be honest, currently not even the PRT could charge him with anything, he is effectively a vigilante right now.

Edit: put a modified version later in thread

Excuse me. @Lunaryon? Can I get a source for the female Ben pic? At least I'm assuming that's a genderbent Ben.

It's very lovely.
I found it on DeviantArt, but I cannot find it again... freaking site in impossible to navigate.

The knife is still buried up to the hilt in the middle of the joint of the Claw.

Excellent!

[X][Cape] Kinetic Five

[X] Take down Crab
- [X] According to Khyber, you're faster the Kraab. And you know that Khybers knife was capable of piercing through Kraabs armour, at least in weak areas.
-- [X] Make it seem like you're putting Khyber between the two/like your heading towards Glory Girl(heading towards the left), then rush back around the right. As Kraabs claw is on the right side of their body, grab it.
--- [X] Once you have the knife, aim for the joints of the limbs, try and disable them. Get that gun away from Kraab.
---- [X] If you can't get the knife out, try your claws. If that fails, move right onto the next step.
----- [X] Success or failure, grab Glory Girl and get out. Focus on containing the situation and keeping bystanders out of harms way.

Couldn't think of a good alternative. I also won't go for Zero-One because I want to name all the alien forms, and while I think XLR8 is pretty good. I don't want to just copy Ben's names.

This seems pretty good. It's got more details than just beating him up with superspeed and probably tying him up like a christmas present.
