There Was An Idea: A Kevin Feige Quest

[X] [Foes] Cottonmouth. Another Kingpin with some ties to Luke's comic origin story. Some versions of him have razor sharp teeth.
[X] [Foes] Black Mariah. Mariah Dillard has no superpowers, but she's a powerful criminal with a lot of influential connections.
[X] [Count] You don't want your focus to get too split. Only one primary villain is necessary.
[X] [Tone] Shoot for an even mix of light and darkness. Comedy and drama in equal amounts.
[X] [Tone] This show is one which calls for a certain seriousness, even if there's still some levity.

[X] [Foes] Diamondback. Luke's former best friend who framed him, Willis Stryker is a master of knife fighting and other gadgets.
[X] [Foes] Shades and Comanche. Two Harlem thugs who knew Luke Cage in Seagate prison and suffered under similar poor treatment.

I've definitely been won over about making Cottonmouth a bigger threat in here and having Mariah as a more equal partner or subordinate, but I'm keeping Diamondback on the list because I have another suggestion for him (though I think RAG already pitched this) make him a part of the Hand to better link Luke to the meta-plot of the MTVU.

[X] [Count] Two villains will show Luke's situation to be more complicated than "just punch him."

I'm really torn here. While I see the benefit of a tight focus, at the same time I think Luke having to deal with a bigger problem than "just punch him." fits the themes that have been suggested better.

This is where I'm at my most serious. I don't want all of our shows to follow Daredevil and Jessica Jones' footsteps of being dark and gritty, we need variety for our platform. But the themes we're most likely going to tackle needs a degree of seriousness.

Nah, that was someone else. I was the one pitching fusing the two characters.

Well, no, more taking the character called Cottonmouth that was created for the show and calling him Stryker/Diamondback instead. Wanting to force Lucas to stay in the game (like he has to be) seems a better motivation than being mad that Lucas stole his girl.

I'm going with Japanime because I agree, we need one villain in the first season. If it goes well enough we can go to two villains.

Soooooo Daredevil, Heroes for Hire, Journey into Mystery, S.H.I.E.L.D., New Warriors, Inhumans, Teenage Based Superhero Show,
Damage Control, Moon Knight, and the Hood?

That gives us 2 more slots if we release a show every month. Given that list, I'd probably add Cloak and Dagger as a romance based show, and then Hercules as an exploratory, wandering series where he looks for purpose.

It wouldn't have a super villain, just an immortal man trying to find peace and passion - one he'd never had, and the other he'd lost long ago. Give it some fights, sure, but make the focus be on Hercules himself and the character, along with the people he meets along the way.
How about Cloak and Dagger for the romance angle, and the an animated show:

"What if...?" The consequences if a single instant in the MCU went different.

There are even over 40 years of "What if...?" stories to take inspiration from. Personally, the first one I would like to see is: "What if Dr. Erskine had not been shot?" There are two different storylines made for this, one in the 60-70s and one in the 90s. Both of them could be easily adapted and make a great story, tackling social issues that are still prevalent.

STREET LEVEL SHOWS
Hell's Kitchen - the story of Daredevil and Punisher and probably others later, this is a show I want renowned for it's awesome fight scenes.
Heroes for Hire - the house that Luke Cage built, this is the less gritty New York story. Oh, it still tackles dark and powerful topics, but some humor is dealt along with it and generally they have each other to rely on. This is Luke, IF, JJ, White Tiger, Misty Knight, Colleen Wing, and maybe more later on. This is a show known for tackling sensitive issues with grace, while portraying real people with real issues - and also superpowers. This generally contains the more physically powerful villains, compared to Hell's Kitchen's more Batman-style rogue cast.
I think that we should include more supernatural elements here. Especially if we are dealing with Iron Fist and Hand. We should be slowly including magic, but not just as alternative tech. It should have somewhat less objective rules then science, more narative then rational...

I hope that choosing a more serious tone doesn't restrict our premise options. I like the idea of Luke Cage being a public hero figure, and I think that idea could be done well with both a lighter or a more serious tone.

So, in what way do we want Luke Cage to be a lighter hero? Do we want him to get into comedy hijinks, or do we prefer that he is a more traditional hero with hints of darkness inside which he must struggle against?

Or perhaps we could try and put him as someone trying to make a new life for himself, being the "Hero for Hire" in order to gain money, yet through the jobs and heroics he starts growing into the Hero he pretended (and might have secretly wanted) to be.

I want a Luke Cage who's putting on a face. In prison, the only thing that got him through was his dad's advice - don't let them see you cry. That, combined with the fact the only entertainment they had was 70s exercise videos, and Luke always put on a smile - he always pretended to be happy, but never truly was.

When he's out of prison, this philosophy grows. He smiles for the people to let them know it's alright, even when it's not. He isn't overly comical or anything like that, he's just a hero with a smile, and that rallies the people behind him.

In the second season we can show the cracks and flaws of putting up a face, using James Jr. and Stryker to rip back into his past - but for now, he's the epitome of a hero when viewed from the outside.

If we want, we can tie in the 'for hire' bit where Luke is putting on the happy face for his business, but I think having him use it to hold himself together is a bit more powerful, and will be even more powerful when and if it breaks at some point.

I would want what BanTheFairyKing suggested. Especially for a serious tone, or even if we start with a lighter tone in season 1 and have it become more serious in season 2.

Anybody have any ideas for Hulk 3, since that is the next film we are making? Here are some that I have:
Betty Ross should become the She-Hulk, since we never introduced Jennifer Walters.
We should feature the Devil Hulk persona appear, since he was great in Ultimate Destruction.
Have it take place in the Savage Land, though from what I can tell we were going to do this anyway.
