I'm fine with monarchy, especially theocratic monarchy in a fantasy world.
Less fine with hereditary, but since it comes with rulers that are actually better, I can deal with it, especially since two of our goddesses want it.

But we should try to do away with primogeniture. Can we make it so that the heir is chosen (from the Royal Family) by either the Cadlon or the priests of Greenbay?

Better yet, have a selection ceremony whenever a new Cadlon is chosen by Arthryn or her pantheon:
All members of the royal family go to the Temple on the Hill of Bronwyn and offer a stone saucer of milk. Then a cat is let in and the new Cadlon is the one whose saucer the cat decides to drink from.

I wonder what Wyrn and Evalyn must feel. To have their plan succeed but now to have the chief goddess of the pantheon enraged at them to the point of punishing them by entombing them in stone.

Like a kid who has been grounded by her mother and believes that she was in the right and shouldn't have been punished.

entombing them in stone for a few years is basically putting them in time-out for a bit. They are immortal age wise, so its really not that big a deal.

@Oshha presumably we have some ideas about the design. Did the architects or engineers or whatever passes in this age give an estimate of what effort this would require or is this a situation where we're building in stone and having never built in stone before we have no way to estimate the difficulty?

You haven't built a building this large before so nobody is sure how long it will take. They do expect it to be completed within this generation or the next however so with the lifetime of most of the people currently alive.

Expectation are often wrong, especially with something we never done before.

So here's a question since she is the head goddess that everyone loves and fears why didn't she just tell us to go back to the old way while she was talking to basically everyone?

Arthryn believes in free choice and the right to make your own decisions even if they are stupid-ass decisions in her opinion. If everyone wants a heredity monarchy, they can have so long as it doesn't come at the cost of Born Equal.

whelp time to go back to priestly orders....and were losing our northern cultural conquest...dammit.

*sighs*

this is going to be bad either way.

we really should have done sacred forest but everyone wants the temple.

Why is it even primogeniture? Almost all of our great heros have been women. All of are gods our women.

Hell the last few leaders of our two allies have been women, wheres this first son nonsense coming from?
