I'm really confused about the whole put her family before her people thing. Maybe I need to go back and reread but I never got the feeling that Bronwyn went home at night to kick puppies and plot on how best to steal candy from babies.
It wasn't blatantly evil like that. It was subtle. Bronwyn wanted to look out for her family by giving them an advantage over everyone else and then justified doing that as being best for the People afterwards.
It took some seasons to get the work done, but by the end of it, Cadlon Bronwyn the Beautiful had ensured the future of her descendants.
Hmm, I do admit to being a little worried about the Merntir.
If they consider a Temple to our Goddesses to not be both ours and theirs, then that sounds like the start or continuation of some sort of schism, either culturally (which is already happening) or religiously (we'll build our own Temple which truly represents the Goddesses!)
It is more that they realised you are on the verge of culturally absorbing them and now the current generation is freaking out about that and trying to stop it.
