The tunnels still exist so you can bet that they are being allowed to exist. They act as a pressure valve, a way to make sure that the passage of illicit commodities... or illicit people... doesn't become so valuable that someone is willing to cut a hole. The demand wouldn't go away otherwise, it would only increase to the point that somebody does something stupid.
That is mostly irrelevant but what we should pay attention to is that this won't be an unnoticed passage. For the last two days, there had been a stalemate of sorts at the border of Rain and The Land of Birds. The hunter-nin, both from great nations, were at an impasse.
All of them knew war could be declared by their actions, and none of them wanted to be the one who started it.
None of the villages were ready for war, From Iwa lacking a combat-ready jinchuuriki, to Kumo still reeling from the death of the Gold and Silver brothers at the hands of Tobirama, and his suicidal last stand. Suna had lost nearly 1,000 ninjas in the last war, decimating their combat-ready numbers and forcing to rebuild their forces.
Mist had only five swordsmen ready for battle, the next two apprentices to take up the mantle were still in training, and still honing their killer instincts and gain mastery of their blades.
Even the mighty Konoha could not claim to be in perfect fighting shape, the kidnapping of their children from their most secure building made it clear that they were not up to snuff, that peacetime and victory made them soft and complacent. Their forces now entering high alert, and the toughest training regime that 'The God of Shinobi' could put together.
The Minor villages, both those that were founded in direct response to Hashirama's forceful peace, or in the aftermath of the War, seemed to be hedging their bets, trying to pick the winning side in this battle or were just observing the possible conflict that may soon erupt.
All sides were staring at each other, trying their best to not make any moves that would cause the others to ask.
All but one.

One of the teams were attacking and they needed to defend themselves.

His short green beard and shaved head were, like the younger man next to him, covered in mud, gunk and water from the rains. The headband on his head weighing nothing as he looked up to see what was happening. The heavy brown cloak weighed down with mud, water and enough weapons to kill a whole lot of bandits.

The younger man moved slightly showing his face, a smile rising, showing his clean teeth. "I can finally prove myself to-"
Hideyoshi put a hand on the the boy's back. "Now is not the time for rash action boy…" Hideyoshi did not say the boys name, to not get too attached to his new partner. He was eager… that was good, but his arrogance and need to prove himself needed to be tempered with experience.
A brush with mortality will do him well. It worked with Hydioshi when he was young, back when he first became a Jinchuuriki and thought that made him invincible.

Senju Tai, otherwise known as Hare to her hastily assembled ANBU hunter squad, was not happy about the situation she now found herself in and wondered what god she pissed off in a past life to deserve the shit show this month has turned into.
First, her clan's heiress was kidnapped by missing-nin and she got drafted into a hunter-nin team because Mako Kurama was pregnant and all the other jounin on the roster in front of in the village was locking the village down. Then her team lost the trail and had to spend weeks trying to find it. Then they learned that the kids were all dead, making their entire journey pointless.
And now, she was battling some Kumo sonuva bitch who thought he could kill her with an earth spike when she was literally right in front of the bastard.
Why people try to use long-range jutsu at point blank range when the enemy could just side step them really made her think about how this hunter nin, probably elite jounin of their village, could achieve their rank. We're all their good ninja killed during the war or was she just plain old lucky to get the new recruit of the squad?
She dodged to the right, dropping her broken short sword and slammed her fist into his masked face, before going low, ducking from the counter-attack and sweeping his feet out from underneath him.
There was a brief moment of pause, as her kunai was drawn and the blade entering her opponents head, and her blade quickly removed from the deceased body.
"DEER YOU SON OF A BITCH! YOU TOLD ME THIS WOULD BE AN EASY MISSION!" She found herself shouting to her commander. "BUT THIS MISSION HAS BEEN NOTHING BUT FUCKED!"
Her commander did not answer, but she was pretty damn sure he heard her.

That made Hydioshi raise his eyebrow. "Why should I?" He knew the answer already, but he would not let his pride be so damaged as to obey that beast.
"Because, like you noticed before you charged in, this presence is different than the other ninja. It reminds me of something that I have not felt in a long time." The beast stated.
"Who?" Hideyoshi asked.
"A question I will answer at another time perhaps. But will you kill him for me if I give you my power?" The Seven-Tails asked.
He found himself nodding to the bug. "Your help would be appreciated Seven Tails."
Hydioshi opened his eyes and saw the strange man in front of him. And than he began to change.

Knowing that it would be better to survive if he followed his orders, Kakuza jumped up onto his masters head.

Just starting to read the chapter, but I figure I should point out that the Gold and Silver brothers were from Kumo, not Suna, and as far as I know did not actually die to Tobirama.
After reading the rest...
How is Zetsu supposed to reform when I'm fairly sure being disintegrated by a Tailed Beast Bomb should be game over for him and just about anyone else?
Why is an Uzumaki ninja killing Konoha ninja?
At this point, wouldn't Kakuzu already have long since failed his assassination of the First Hokage and left Taki behind after having taken the Jiongu? I don't think he should be quite so young, or still actively a part of Taki.

Wouldn't Kakuzu have already fled after fighting Hashirama. He should be in his 20s or 30s no? That fight would have been a decade or more ago.
