We kinda already have elemental attacks with Way of the Asura being Rank 6. These would just give a sort of instinctive knowledge and an attack boost while using them.

They're good skills, I just don't think we need them right now. They might also unlock elemental cultivation in a future class I suppose. Not sure if Way of the Asura would let us fake that.

I'm looking at them and they probably should fuse into Way of the Asura later.

Which is why we want them.

So anyways look at the Way of the Asura's associated elements:
-Water
-Fire
-Earth
-Metal
-Wood
Now look at the five elemental special attacks.
These seem clear, once we get to the Way of the Asura's Offensive form we should be able to integrate the elemental attacks into a single ability.

I was waiting for you to post your plan veekie. I definitely agree with grabbing all the elemental stuff that was being offered here.

I already commented on my previous post, but I'll rephrase here:

Going for all the elements is a definitive choice in our build. It is not "one part", or "building the foundations" as we have been doing thus far. Instead, going this route means that elemental attacks will become our main focus. It will take a massive amount of ability points, and that will lock us out of other paths.

Granted, that isn't necessarily bad in itself. My differing viewpoint consists of two things:
1. This is too early to choose our final theme. We should at least see the 3rd class first. That class will have better abilities, and thus it suits the best for determining our final theme. At that point we also have more data available, so we can make a more informed decision.
2. 'The 5 Elements Monk' lacks style. It's just so gimmicky. "Just take every elemental ability offered and max them all", would be the guide to this build. There is no finesse, no hard choices, no careful calibrations, just taking every elemental ability. This is the build of a simple person. A matter of taste sure, but it definetely isn't to mine.

I'd much rather choose the thunder fists here. They seem to be the pure damage element, and go well with StormDoom to boot.

Not really. We ALREADY had the elements. By taking it we integrate them more into our fighting style and open up options beyond just single element effects as we say we want a focus here to hybridize them.

Sort of like becoming the Avatar or a Cultivator

I have an idea. Instead of like six elemental fist techniques just make one wu xing fist techniques that stacks with way of Asura that already does it.

'The 5 Elements Monk' lacks style.
think of it this way she could arranged them in a combo like this

Looks good but I'd like to drop 1 breath control to get Body over Mind maxed out to see if that does anything special.
I'm happy to sell out for votes. Its why I asked. However we only need one skill point to max body over mind so I'll just be dropping breath to 2.
I'm inclined to take all the elemental attacks. Because they sound like a set-bonus if you have all the techs and can fuse them together(that they add CONSIDERABLY to our DPS helps).
Maybe not meditation though. People didn't like the idea previous.
Thats an investment of 25 skill points. Considering that each of these is probably the base of a elemental tree that seems like a bad choice. I could understand a value point in each but I think actually expecting to merge them is a bad idea, unless we're playing with respecs in the late game.
Also could you put a point into Meditation? I think Terran was clearly signalling that this would be an important skill.

This vote is invalid you know, I used a ? rather than an X so it wouldn't count as I wanted to check peoples opinion first. Could you revote?

Hey guys, we're level 50 now, you know, the level we need to be to upgrade our armour that we came here to do. Or to do the epic giant quest. Why are we leaving, it just got good?

Or would you prefer we say something like "gives bonus to attacking x type monster" and you decide the scaling?
Preferably, yeah. I have yet to design any character past level 60 and how bonuses would apply.
Although, if you're feeling confident on the scaling you saw so far from level 1 to 40, you could make an estimation and it wouldn't be that far off, to be honest.

@Terran Imperium We only got 5 new abilities to choose from, even though we got 6 levels? One of these numbers is wrong here I think.
You are right. With Meditation in there, I miscounted. I'll show you that sixth ability in the next update since its already too late right now. Apologies.
No, it wouldn't be an elemental attack. The one planned after this is another dodge bonus ability. +4 bonus.
Just so you guys are aware now if you want to save up an AP for it later on.

Oh, and Kelgar04 came back by the way! Updates from now will be proofread, you can take a look at this one to see the changes if you want.

Kinda like the mastery of basics plan but I'd prefer the earth attack over the fire.

Don't really wanna go the Avatar route personally.

Its hard to evaluate how good Fire really is because its pretty unclear what it actually does. I think most people are assuming that this will be some sort of armor piercing ability.
Since we have 9+3d10 (Average 20) damage resistance in Ahkriin's Heritage, even if this only negates 10% this would make this the single best damage dealing ability that we've seen once you add its natural benefits(+7 compared to an expected +5). When you consider that most players who speced into damage resistance tanking are probably in the 50's like our dodge, and boss enemies are likely to be even higher this talent is potentially twice as good as the other abilities in 1v1 combat, and is the only one that will naturally scale without more investment.

I can understand the appeal of earth, but we don't really want an attack that we can't use without throwing a person away from us unless we also have a good way to close the distance again since we're a puchy character. And I don't know if we've ever used Heavenly Bull's Charge in order to estimate how good that is. Getting an AOE is definetly a plus, except that we know nothing about debuffs or exactly how significant a penalty being 'destabalised' actually is.

Theres other utility to the earth thing. Interrupting casting/ranged opponents as well as getting people off of our squishies but I understand your point.

Yeah at the end of the day I think Water is the only one that we're not talking out of our asses about.
Everything else is just speculation.
At the end of the day I'm happy with any of the styles (Except wood which doesn't work against peers and uses a restrictive keyword, most Magic seems to be Arcane or Divine so this mostly just applies against monks), however I just don't want all of them to win.
It sounds super cool, but we need to remember that these techniques are just the first step in a chain that Breath Control unlocked. Committing 25 Ability Points to the first tier will probably prevent us from unlocking the hidden powers on higher tier Abilities.

Would need more support to change it after people voted for it though. We can pick it up next too

Ugh. I can't decide on a plan. Or rather, i can't decide which abilities i want. I think i'd prefer if we focus on one of them, or two that complement each other.
Like water+wood, or wood+fire, or fire+earth, or earth+metal, or metal+water. My favorite combo would probably be metal+water? And now to decide if i want to make my own plan...

[X] Plan Complementing Foundations
-[X] Unlock 'Meditation'
-[X] Unlock 'Splendid Water Fist'
-[X] Unlock 'Azure Metal Kick'
-[X] Improve 'Body Over Mind'
-[X] Improve 'The Way of the Asura's Defensive Form' x2

There. Meditation because meditation, water because ranged, metal because it complements water element and we need more kicks, and body over mind and asura defence to cap them off.

Going all in on the elemental stuff would use up 30 ability points, almost a third of our total.

It would also require the thread to actually stick with that idea for multiple votes and not get distracted by a new shiny.

This seems to be pretty close to my wishes, and I think some solidification of votes is needed to compete against the omnielemental approach. Boosting Breath Control is a calculated risk, because of the promise of a chain. Meditation is there to potentially reveal magics.

[X] Plan Elemental Asura

"Fiery Thunder Sword": A brutal technique. Your hands become as sharp as swords, they become coated in the element of Water. After further improvements, your hands would cackle with high-powered charges of electricity. +5 to Melee Attacks and Damage
I assume that is intended to be Fire, right? I'm also guessing that meant to say crackle, unless our hands start laughing which would be kinda creepy honestly.
(Except wood which doesn't work against peers and uses a restrictive keyword, most Magic seems to be Arcane or Divine so this mostly just applies against monks)
As for this, it sounds a lot more powerful to me than you make it sound. Fireball? That's elemental. Thunderbolt? That's elemental. Magic sword that's enchanted for extra damage? Chances are it's elemental. It means that once we reach level 100 a group of level 90 mages will have a much tougher time dealing with us. That's how I read it anyway, could be wrong.

Next time we will be choosing between meditation and lvl 10+ abilities which are likely upgrades of the the elemental choices, and it will be even harder to justify meditation.
Aren't we level 40 currently? Still need 10 more to upgrade the armor.
Ah, drat you are right, I thought there was 40 fighter levels :(

Do you think getting jumped by a group of mages lower level than us is likely? And besides, at high levels mages have spell books that are closer to a thousand spells and are expected to be able to use all of them, even if we remove their Fire, Water, Earth, Metal and Wood spells they still have choices, I mentioned Arcane and divine but that splits into Holy and Unholy and there are also things like Acid. I'm not even certain that Thunderbolt would count as elemental.

If you've got suggestions for how to improve, I'd be happy to hear.
