[X] Compromise

Fact of the matter is that we DON'T trust everyone, hell we pretty much don't trust anyone, but better that honesty in trying to unfuck the situation than allowing an Amaris type in to pull the strings

[X] Compromise. Remain Vicereine, but sit on the Regency Council, until your royal father returns from the Outer Rim. Hopefully sitting on the Council would dilute their concerns about the Empress' unilateral action, and you could still act overtly if she needed you to troubleshoot. It does imply the Empress doesn't trust the Council.

Hm...

[ ] Become Regent. You would give up being Vicereine, become the Regent and the head of the Regency Council, and you'd be ruling in Empress Meigyoku's name. But this choice might spark conflict with the Great Houses.

Walk the most 'interesting' path~

Hmm. This is a really tough call. My gut is that backing down now that she's proclaimed us Vicereine would make the Empress look weak while most of the damage is already done because the Council knows she wants to and tried to bypass them. That makes me lean toward the Compromise option. But Yui and the Chancellor, who can probably be trusted on the politics, both seem dubious on the compromise option working out well. I don't like the Regent option since it seems certain to escalate matters.

While the need to be discreet if we aren't officially the Empress's viceroy seems problematic, but also interesting from a story perspective (and with Politics and Intel build, Yui seems reasonably well suited for that). So I guess...

[X] Member of the Regency Council. You would give up being Vicereine and represent the Royal Family on the Regency Council; if the Empress need you for a personal mission, you would need to quite discrete, but this would be the option of least drama.

This is why the Regency Council is so tilted by Empress Meigyoko* proclaiming Yui as Imperial Vicerine, because not only did she overstep her boundaries, but now you're a member of the Regency Council and Viceroy and you're juggling multiple hats and responsibilities and this leads to an imbalance of power, so to speak, especially given how obviously the Empress favors you.

Did Yui know going in to the meeting she was about to be proclaimed Vicereine? It seems that way to me from the post (she certainly doesn't seem surprised), but it's not clear to me why Yui went along with it to the point of openly accepting the job in front of the Regency Council, since it is obviously politically problematic.

It is an issue, yes, and I'll be addressing this in the text of the next update.

I commend you; you've gained some insight into the next update!

To all those who are voting for the Regent option... I'm sorry to say this, but your choice has no chance of winning, considering how diminished the voting has become. However, your choices still matter. Unless you want the Regency Council option to win, then I must ask of you to please change your votes to the Compromise option, as it is better for us in the long run and because I doubt Yui is actually good at being discreet, even with the aid of an Intel advisor.
Also, the empress is 16, which means that by giving up the Vicereine post, we run the risk of having someone manipulative be named as Viceroy\Vicereine, who will try to manipulate the empress for whatever reasons they might have, and that is not a good thing.

I'm curious: How much discussion participation would y'all lik me to be involved in? I worry at times that by participating in discussion I might accidentally end up railroading questers, so I've generally been trying to be hands off.

It occurs to me that while demonstrating the worldbuilding in a "show don't tell manner" or organically blending the worldbuilding with story are generally good principles, the weakness of that approach is that it needs me to have actually written story updates to out that worldbuilding in. >.>

I think I might need to turn the worldbuilding notes into infodump articles. <.<

Generally speaking when clarification is offered on a point you probably want corresponding clarification on all the options at once. Otherwise people would take it as a hint to rail

Changing my earlier vote.
You'll need to do two things: strikethrough your original vote, and actualy go to the update post on Page 7 and copypast the vote option in full, because if you vote like this the vote tally won't pickup your vote.

Whooops I thought just deleting the X in the earlier vote would do the trick. Thanks for the advice!

Curiousity here: Yui has politics SSR and was trained since young to navigate politics. Why do you doubt her ability to act discretely? Is it because of the heavy fleet? :p

I do admit that part of my worries regarding Yui's ability to be subtle comes from the fact that she favors a heavy fleet, but in my opinion, being skilled at politics is not the same as being able to act discreetly (even though being able to act discreetly would help in a political enviroment) (And yes, I could be wrong about my fears regarding the fact that Yui is incapable of acting in a subtle manner, just like I thought that the need for honorable combat came because Yui wanted to fight honorably, not from Hagoromo-no-Kaneo-no-Mikoto's legend regarding how she treated her enemies)

I mean, the text of Yui's combat stule notes "it behooves you to act in a manner", that means she's expected to act that way. *shrug*

The first requirement to be able to act discretely is to be able to look at a situation and see how it can go wrong, which was part of what I was attempting to show with the update, with Yui knowing the incoming political shitstorm, and trying to privately fix the problem instead of calling out Ahri on the spot in public.

Alright, peeps. With this, the vote is closed. Now for me to do tallying.
