We're Uchiha, with a lot of dead family, we need all the sanity we can get. And if we can spread it around, so much the better, really.
Also, some information might be gotten from Danzo, I'm pretty sure he's not getting away after all of this. No need to take it upon ourselves and get hit by a deathseal. Also: possible extra sharingan for future needs, get!

Do we really need to take both options that severely improve mental health? Especially because intervene says "+ S++ Diplomacy skill!"?

If we're going to be Clan Head, for the next few years at least our challenges will be based on Diplomacy and the like. We aren't locked out of the other books for future training, but right now none of the other skills are actually very relevant.

And diplo S++ is not enough, so we need to spend another book on diplo?
When are we going to need diplo greater than s++? Hoping to diplo the rabbit goddess or something?

@AoMythology would you mind updating the stat sheet, because it's getting pretty hard to keep track of our stats and skills when they're spread out throughout multiple posts.

Diplomacy isn't a strict win/lose game. Higher diplomacy will make our successes more impressive. It will always be useful.
Conversely, given that we're allowed to go read the other books later by WOG, when do you think we're going to need high-level combat skills within the next year or two? We're still an Academy student.

Canon has been derailed by a freight train.
Do not expect the next few years to definitely remain peaceful.

It's been derailed in a way that would logically make danger less likely, not more. The Leaf is stronger now than it was in canon, given the number of surviving Uchiha and Itachi remaining in the village.
Mental Health =/= Diplomacy.
Mental Health = Not going full Uchiha crazy, because its specifically a bloodline issue that Uchihas have a tendency to lose SAN.

I don't think we need both mental health boosters, Shisui's notes should be fine for now. I like the fire option mostly because of how useful it seemed to be in this last fight (the other elemental options are alright too, though I'd like to give Sasuke first crack at the lightning stuff).

To be honest, we only really need one mental health booster. The reason we're taking both is that one is Shisui's secret notes - which you better believe will have combat applications - and the other boosts diplomacy, which in the short term is the single most important skill we can boost.
