Scrapped (A Discarded Android Riot Quest)(Always Recruiting)

Turn 1 Results
Mission 1: Search for Components
-Small Manufacturing (Damaged)(Roll adjusted by Salvage skill)
-Small Computing (Damaged)
-Small Energy Storage (Battered)
-Large Power Generation (Damaged)

There's an interesting fact about going scrapping; if you're looking for functional components, you want to look near but not on the surface, since at shallow depths components both aren't exposed to excessive crushing forces from being buried under hundreds of meters of steel, and are protected from things like micrometeor impacts by a layer of scrap on top of them. On the other hand, if you want any sort of volatile element you'll probably need to dig through the vast majority of the scrap layer until you reach HG-903's natural surface.

Following this protocol, you have made quite a few interesting finds. First is a Tomotech-brand Desktop 3d Alumina printer in decent working order. Unfortunately, it seems to be rather picky about its feedstock, and you don't have a good supply of the aluminum alloy wire it needs to print with.

Your second find is a J-Wave brand gaming laptop; it seems to have taken a micrometeor strike to the monitor, but the rest seems to be in good working order. You might be able to re-purpose it as a fire-control computer or communications router without too much hassle.

Third, you find a Union Electric Power Backpack, intended for use with some variety of laser weapon. Sadly, it is in really rough shape, and will probably require significant repairs before it can be put to any significant use.

Lastly is something you really, really weren't expecting to find, a Shova Fleet Yards G-4 Fusion Reactor. It's in almost pristine condition save for a few bumps and bangs, and it's even got nearly full tanks of D+3He fuel. If you can haul it back to base and give it a jump-start, it will be able to provide all the power you need for possibly decades before it needs re-fueling. There's only one problem; the reactor is the size of a small dwelling in its own right, and will definitely need some heavy equipment to get back to base. Maybe Teractor will be able to help?

Mission 2: Recruit Loners
Roll 39 + 20(skill) + 25(hardware) = 84
Painful Success

Regretfully, it turns out that recruiting loners is really really hard. Even leaving aside the fact that a lot of them have such hilariously incompatible communications protocols that they may as well be screeching gibberish, a lot of the ones who you were able to talk to quickly turned out to be such massive jerks that they quickly got themselves a one-way ticket to 'not welcome'.

This isn't even counting the ones who outright ran for their lives when confronted with a formidable combat bot like Leroy, who cut quite the intimidating figure as they provided backup for you. In the end, you only managed to find one bot who you could actually talk to, who wasn't a massive jerk, and who Leroy didn't scare off. Then the Cannibals showed up.

Mission 2a: Defend the Recruitment
Roll 74 + 10 (skill) + 15 (hardware) = 99
Success

As the group of six bots crested one of the countless broken dunes of ancient metal, it was painfully obvious what type of group you were dealing with; few other bots would deliberately mark their chassis with war paint made from congealed hydraulic fluids and painstakingly oxidized metal powders. Leroy immediately leapt into action, firing up their Barrier Shield and ordering both the negotiation bots and the prospective recruit to head for the Stockade immediately, while they delayed the cannibals.

In the end, Leroy was successful at defending his charges, but not without cost to himself. The veteran of many underground pit fights trudged back to base four hours after the incident, with several massive dents in his casing and a few of his servos exposed.

Mission 3: Reinforce Stockade Walls
Roll 60 + 10 (skill) + 10 (hardware) = 80
Success

As it turns out, reinforcing the Stockade's walls was quite simple; simply haul appropriately sized and shaped pieces of the plentiful scrap into place and weld them on. The hauling part was quite straightforward, given your industrial-grade motor system, but the welding required you to get a bit more creative; fortunately there was an electric welding torch in the mechanic's toolset, and you had enough wiring to run power from the base's reactor. The hardest part was not dropping the thing, seeing as your hands really weren't designed to use human tools.

Mission 4: Scavenge Spare Parts
Roll 93 + 20 (skill) + 20 (hardware) = 137
7 Spare Parts found!

On a different part of the Scrap Dunes close to home, Proto and Teractor were looking for parts that could be used to patch up their friends, or various items around home. This involved much sifting through broken metal and stripping of components from inactive synthetics, but it was a job that needed to be done. And done the job was, as when the two bots began their trip back to the Stockade, they were carrying a sizable haul of spare parts, ready to be put to use in making what was broken much less so.

Mission 5: Defend the Stockade!
no threats...

It is a very good thing that the Stockade wasn't attacked while Cave Crush was busily reinforcing its walls. It's not that he intentionally got in the way, but his slamming of metal sheets and whatnot into the structure jostled the two main defensive emplacements around a lot, meaning they would have required a major recalibration before battle. This is especially the case for the mortar, for which ammunition is quite limited, and cannot afford to be wasted.

If we need more scrap to repair components, I can switch to that.

We should probably grab the Shova Fleet Yards G-4 Fusion Reactor this turn. Who knows if somebody might find it and grab it before we can.

Do we need someone to help with protection? I am a big target holding something valuable after all.

We could probably roll you in with the component scavenging party that way we can share protection, technically you are scavenging components right?

Okay so the scavenger team got some loot. I guess I'll continue protecting the scavengers. Maybe even assist.

@I just write If action is taken to repair my bot this turn, will I be fully repaired in time to take part in any action I choose, or do I need to refrain from taking any combat actions to ensure that I don't wind up going into battle damaged?

[X] Go looking for Components

We have a decent amount of spare parts at 22, though with repairing Leroy and maybe the laser or mortar that can run low. Still teaming up for the component group. The Mk 44 whichever construction bot does base repairs should use it to aid them.

BTW, I'm going to add my own personal action later, but in the meantime...

----[] 1*J-Wave Laptop + UP TO 5 Spare Parts (Fewer needed the better, but allowed to use up to a maximum of 5 to make it happen)

EDIT: Striking vote based on Void Stalker recommendation and input, but leaving vote text in place for future reference.

It is probably better to have them repair either the laser turret or mortar to improve our base defense in case we get attacked. Also we should see how many parts repairing the base and repairing Leroy take before making new hardware.

I mean I doubt the thing is going to take up every inch of space in your back and we could still use your hands to grab and move stuff...
I don't have hands I have scoops and a giant crane claw.
But I can agree with you on the back thing, I am apparently a 480 ton, giant salvage bot with a hauler bin on his back.
My problem comes from the fact that as a Mighty Glacier archetype my top speed is about 40 km/h and I can't work with delicate stuff well due to my size.

I'm going to have to second this. We need more materials first before we do any construction work that isn't just grab a random thing and put it somewhere.

[X] Scouting Mission
-[X] Gather intelligence on the cannibal tribe that attacked negotiators while keeping a safe distance

It is partly IC decision (Another Sparta Industries bot was damaged and Dodger doesn't like this) and I want to have an open of raiding them next turn. We have plenty of high combat bots and several combat 1 bots to assist.

BTW, If intrigue bots can't find a better job for themselves, I's suggest them to try to find a loner ally(-ies) for a raid on cannibals. It should be easier to persuade someone to attack a mutual enemy than persuade them to join us. One high combat loner can make such raid far easier.

The biggest problem isn't that its hard to persuade them its that we can't even talk to them. They're essentially speaking another language and we don't have a way to bridge that gap.
