If he does ascend if we ally with him we give him domain over ruling the mortals while we are the master of the occult nether realms. As long as we are worshiped he can command them as much as he wants while we do our lord of the underworld thing and hold court over the shamans and other mystical forces while he is the up front war god of rulership and might, presiding over the regular mortals. By the way I think as a God of Death we need a Order of sacred assassin Priests,Fun fact:

To put it into perspective, the highest level in any stat we could have started off with in char gen was 3.
This dude is crazy good, and has a decent chance of ascending if we let him live to old age (Which @Powerofmind said was around 15 turns)

Come on guys, the map's just revealed what looks like a new tribe to the east of Kut and An'Wah'Hei was just wondering about if there were any other tribes out there he could incorporate into his kingdom.

I'm thinking of having him agree to getting killed in a special ceremony and stuff. We're a death spirit and getting personally killed by us should be our followers greatest honor.My plan for our God King is to fully support and empower him. I want him to be the best he can be and I want to make sure he knows that we invested our influence and power into him every step of the way, that we bathed him in blessings and showered him with divine portents declaring he was the rightful king. We got our brutal beat stick now lets work building a rapport with him and ensuring that when he does ascend he will look upon us with great thanks and give us a favored position in his divine kingdom. Become the power behind the throne and while he focuses on conquest and domination we build our mystic power over the world and act to give wisdom and insight to him. Also making sure to smite and butcher any threats with extreme death dealing force but that is a given.

Would that be so bad?That's all well and good, but it's really limiting to him. He will probably ascend upon death, so if we don't want him as part of the pantheon we could offer to eat his soul so he can be a part of us forever.
The ritual death thing should be if we want him as part of our pantheon. He can be the diplomat spirit.
Before he dies though, and if we wanna remain in control we'd need some of the spirit traits. Spirit of kings and humanity or something. Otherwise, with the guys inherent qualities? He'd damn near instantly roll us into being his subordinate.
