Speaking of Intercepts... did you ever decide what would happen if Solar Radiance was fighting a temporal doppelganger and intercepted her double's attack? Do you get a fearful symmetry situation where everything is mirrored and blocked or do both get pasted because Unstoppable?
The latter, I believe.

(And another thing, Solar Radiance has Judgement on her weapon with Unstoppable. Judgement is never going to do anything...)
Hey, I'm not the one who put it there.

I'll try to sum up my issue with this.

If two otherwise equal combatants fight and one intercepts a Crush-enhanced blow they get hit for twice the damage as just letting it through ((3x-x)*3 = 6x). And this will always happen if Crush activates. Poor blocking can only take you so far...

It seems nonsensical to let this happen from both a narrative and mechanical standpoint to me, so I've reasoned that the big swing gives you extra oomph on the conflict, but typically won't trigger again. Crush doesn't have the feel of spiteful magic or vast reserves of power that would justify thumping victims with that much extra damage, it always seemed like making an extra heavy attack. This, to me, avoids making things worse for peers that try intercepting and also avoids gamy bullshit like intercepting a weak attacker nearby to get a stronger shockwave. So Crush and Smash just don't trigger twice in these circumstances.

EDIT: @Faraway-R, check the Ceaseless Warrior ability.
Acknowledged.

Why then was I told that HFS spiders were a threat to Summit when going hunting Balrogs?

...Nevermind, was asking the wrong question at the time - specifically whether On Wings of Imagination would allow Summit to ignore their stun spell. OWOI doesn't, CW does.

Guess that solves my conundrum on how to go about visiting Boatshrieks to fulfill the requirement for TTTGFTH. Spiders are not a threat after all.

About Crush... If you remember, defensive string does have negative modifiers, in fact in this one I've seen "-500 Overwhelmed" in one of them. It can roll over to Extra Damage, even.

And like I said IMO magical girls enforce their weapon Crush via either passive magic or existential weight. It's possible.

You're not using the sheet linked on the front page, right? Cause that thing is so out of date that it makes me cringe.

If you are using the proper one, you can blame Crystal for that one actually. :V
On further thought, when she loses an Intercept it drops the enemy's MM roll to zero to splash against her Insurmountable Perfection, so maybe it isn't useless.

Sure they can.

If Starlancer got into an Intercept conflict against someone with an Unstoppable attack the Punch-Through damage would still ...er, punch through.
That's not losing an Intercept. I've asked about it. The Punch-Through part is mechanically more like a separate offensive string that can synchronize with the result of a won Intercept conflict.

Leaving this here:

Happy New Year 2018, everyone! I come bearing gifts! Specifically, a "what if" omake!
Without further ado, I can now proudly present:

Omake Start - Bloodsport

Once again, Summit charges through the demon ranks at the edge of South Staging Ground, picking some off and forcing the others to chase after her, only to turn on other demons in frenzy as she disappears. With nearly a quarter of Staging Ground in disarray, hundreds of demons are dead or dying in chaos, and best of all, nobody is paying any attention to the two invisible soldiers Summit left with the beacon at the edge of the area, where a short burst of speed would allow anyone to clear the distance to the still-open lava dome entrance. As Summit is rising into the air to get a bead on situation, she notices a flash of light from the direction of the beacon. Fearing the worst, she immediately Shifts to the beacon site.

(Summit: 2440 Teleport backlash damage

Summit: 12200 - 2440 = 9760 Health)

She was right to have been worried. Lysander Cook is pinned to the Beacon with the butt of the spear held by a Magical Girl (Darkness, Light, Legend) while Mohammad Shah is lying to the side, clearly thrown off with some kind of blow. Worse, you can see a Demon Commander and a group of demon footsoldiers surrounding the beacon location. Despite demons covering their eyes, Dark Magical Girl does not, immediately spotting Summit:

"Do nothing or they die, Anna!"

Summit freezes in hover above the site, a part of her mind noting that the demons she was whipping into frenzy instead congregate on her location now, visibly calming down. A greater part of her attention however is devoted to the Dark Magical Girl who effortlessly twirls her spear to push Cook off the beacon and hold him at spearpoint.

"You have shown yourself to be too much of a nuisance today, Anna, so listen well. You may run, and I will cut them where they are before hunting you down. You may duel me, and whatever happens, they live - this I promise. Or you can surrender, and I let them run away. Your choice."
**Never again!
Summit can feel that the powerful adversary in front of her is deadly serious, but snarls inside at the mere suggestion of surrender. Only understanding that lunging at the Dark Magical Girl in front of her will do nothing but get everyone killed, holds her in place. As she lowers herself to the ground, Summit grinds out an answer:

"I will not be chained in Hell. Never again. I will die before I surrender - and I will kill before I die."

A flicker of emotion (disappointment?) shadows the face of the Dark Magical Girl, followed by a brief moment of inattention. Then she raises her spear and takes a step away from the beacon and the Counter Force soldier. Both Lieutenant Shah and Sergeant Cook vanish into thin air, just before the demons surrounding the spot start lowering their arms to watch the scene of impending deathmatch with eager eyes. A brief burst of attention - at heightened speed of perception - allows Summit to determine the Magical Girl had been shot at with the soldiers' shotguns, but that left not a single mark on the Magical Girl herself.
**She's tough.
"I am Magical Girl Starlancer, Anna. These are the rules. The flight is prohibited - and I will be taking measures to ensure that. This is single combat - feel free to kill anyone who interferes, but don't expect ANY help from your allies. Using that spell that you broke your cage with is prohibited - and I will kill them both if you try. Now, don't resist. Twilight."

As the Dark Magical Girl's spell washes over Summit, a wave of darkness with points of light appears around her from nowhere, utterly draining the well of strength of her Panoply and forcing the defensive spell on her to break down. Simultaneously, Anna feels her magic be ripped from her and captured in the tip of Starlancer's spear, bound by the spell she uttered.

"As I said. No help from your allies. Now, land, Anna. You are too late anyway," Starlancer gives an order, and starts taking measured steps moving her away from the beacon. Summit touches down, noticing that the gate of lava dome is closing - that the Dark Magical Girl in front of her was correct. She then feels the space warp around the spot, dropping off several runestones (Earth, Chaos) that give off a pulse.

(Grounding Stones Check: 2
Magical Girl Summit: Dice Negated
Summit: Flight Negated)

It was unpleasant. Summit could feel her Panoply bound somehow, incapable of propelling her through air. And yet, reaching further, she felt that there was potential in her Panoply she had yet to tap into. It would have to be enough.

This is the spot where there would have been a break in updates in order to have a combat and experience plan. Starlancer would start her attack in two turns, advancing on Summit while throwing her spear, most likely resulting in the latter's demise. Here's the EXP gains list for the "update":

+50 EXP Killed ~400 Demonic Footsoldiers
+50 EXP And 5 Demon Commanders
+150 EXP Things Gone Wrong
+10 EXP Big Damn Heroine?
+25 EXP Met Magical Girl Starlancer
+5 EXP Deathmatch Imminent
+5 EXP Mission Success No Longer Possible

506 + 295 = 801 Total EXP
1) I've asked and got confirmation from @kelllogo before posting, in PM:
Ramming Speed is basically a charge attack. I throws Summit in a straight line at her target and covers her in a very powerful defensive field. It can still work under no flight even if it throws her at an aerial target (unless the "no flight" effect stops things like bullets and thrown weapons).

2) Due to @kelllogo expressing their dislike to Crush proccing both on weapon-vs-weapon part of Intercept Conflict and on winner-vs-resilience part of the Intercept conflict if it wins, I'm only using the x3 Crush modifier on the weapon-vs-weapon part of Intercept Conflict.

3) Melt is a stronger version of Burn, "with better chance of body damage modifiers" - implication that Burn can also do them.

4) I'm denoting start of every turn with the name and configuration of the panoply. It is then followed by the turn-based effects proccing at the beginning of the turn description.

Battle Start!
Turn 1: Exploding Panoply (Crush, Burn, Collateral Damage)

(Grounding Stones Check: 2
Magical Girl Summit: Dice Negated
Summit: Flight Negated)

Drawing a portion of the power she hadn't before, Summit reconfigures her Panoply as she launches herself - not directly at the Starlancer, but beside her: "Ramming Speed!"

(Ramming Speed: 1700 Damage, Dice Negated, -850 Not Aiming At Her = 850 Damage
Magical Girl Starlancer: 990 Base Resilience, +429 Dice, +990 Defensive Roll, -1485 Juggernaut = 924 Damage Reduction

Summit suddenly accelerates, her own spell allowing her to momentarily ignore the power of the flight-inhibiting runestones. Caught off guard, Starlancer instinctively rolls to the side, barely evading the lunge, but is unable to react in time to prevent Summit from slamming her Panoply into the ground.

(Exploding Panoply: 1040 Damage, Dice Negated, +520 Ramming Speed, +100 Crush and Burn, +200 Light of Discovery, +186 Fight Smart, -620 Indirect Attack, x3 CRUSH = 4278 Damage

1252 Final End Damage

Magical Girl Starlancer: 8000 - 1252 = 6748 Health

Burn Triggers! 80 Damage Per Turn!)

The ground explodes in all direction with red-hot stone fragments and concussive force, catching Starlancer and throwing her off to the side as the shockwave and shrapnel overtakes her. Yet, even tumbling in mid-flight, she launches her spear at Summit in retaliation, who attempts to swat the projectile down.

The spear thrown at Summit very nearly drills through her Panoply as if it thirsts for blood, and yet the explosion from the collision is enough to shift it off course, allowing the attack to graze Summit's side rather than pierce it outright. As Summit is attempting to grab the offending object, it dissolves into thin air, only to reappear in the Dark Magical Girl's hand. Both combatants ready themselves for another bout, Starlancer making several quick steps back towards the beacon to discourage further acts of wanton destruction by Anna. Both of them spare a second to eye the other one warily after the exchange.

In the meantime, the demons have congregated in a tightly packed crowd all around the beacon site, guaranteeing that the possibility of Shah and Cook slipping out, slim as it was even with invisibility, is reduced to zero. Summit uses a brief burst of hyperfocused attention to ascertain that her allies are still inside, and cannot escape on their own. It is at that moment Summit recalls her spar with another spear user - with Red Rose - that happened shortly after her escape from Hell. Recalling the training session, Summit chooses the shape of her weapon and her next move.

Turn 1 End
Turn 2: Red-Hot Spear Panoply (Crush, Burn, Rain of Blows)

(Starlancer: 80 Burn damage
Starlancer: 6748 - 80 = 6668 Health)

(Grounding Stones Check: 7
Magical Girl Summit: Dice Negated

Summit assumes a combat-ready pose, shifting her Panoply around to form a spear of her own. The spear is covered with alternating orange and black bands across its shaft, and its tip is glowing an angry glow. Upon seeing it, Starlancer's face turns into a scowl and she begins to say:

"What kind of mockery is this?!"

Summit capitalizes on this and lunges forward with the opening moves of the combo Red Rose used on her that day, boosting her perceptions once more. In her state of hyperfocus, Summit observes everything slow down - or rather, her own reactions are sped up enough that she can see the combat clearly. Summit makes note of the ways her own imitation combo falls short of Red Rose's - and yet, the opponent in front of her is clearly not even close to being her equal in skill, let alone that of Red Rose. In this state, she easily picks up on, forces open, and takes advantage of all the minute openings in the Dark Magical Girl's guard - openings Summit herself had never given to Red Rose in the first place.

As Summit's imitation combo is getting to the final stage, Starlancer - pressed heavily by the assault her own skill had not chance against - suddenly releases her spear from one hand to recall it to another, in an attempt to score a strike and ward off Summit. Her attempt comes far too late to change the outcome.

Dark Magical Girl's leg is pierced right through by the glowing spear, searing the wound shut and cooking off all the muscles in the area. Starlancer lets out a shrill scream of pain and stumbles back, barely able to use her now-lame leg. The arrogance and anger at percieved mockery in her eyes are gone, replaced by pain and dawning fear. Summit slams Halt in the area and presses on her attack.

The demons surrounding the site of duel are no longer jeering as they were mere seconds ago, the decisive wound scored in the deathmatch forcing them to reevaluate the outcome they thought clear.

"NO! Ascalon!" Legend-affinity Magical Girl stumbles back, wincing with every step. Her cries are unanswered. The demons around the area fall silent, their wariness of their ally replaced by wariness at both magical girls currently in the circle.

"No! Why?.. NO! Anna, stop! Twilight!" Starlancer's eyes are no longer fearful - what they show is utter terror. She launches her spell, and throws her spear at Summit twice, to no avail.

Starlancer falls, with Summit's Spear piercing her breastplate and pinning her to the ground. Lethally wounded Magical Girl coughs weakly, tasting the blood in her mouth and seeing the edges of her vision turn dark for the first time since she awakened her power. She look up at her enemy.

Summit pulls out Starlancer's spear out of her calf, seemingly without a care - not for the wound, not for Starlancer, and not for the demons surrounding the arena. Then she speaks dispassionately:

"That was Red Rose's combo, and you, you are no Red Rose. And you never will be."

The last thing Magical Girl Starlancer sees is her spear sundered in twain, the fragments vanishing right afterwards in the shower of orange light of her opponent.

As Starlancer expires, Summit feels her magic surge within her once again. She rises in the air, her panoply unfolding from a spear to a multitude of autocannon turrets, training themselves on the frozen demons.

"Are you still here?"

The demons break and run, hounded by explosions wreaking havoc all over the battlefield. A moment later, two Magical Girls Summit recognizes (Light, Destruction, Myth, and Light, Magic, Myth) appear near the beacon, and Summit's internal radio hears Commander Black's order of withdrawal. Summit and her allies aren't bothered as they leave the battlefield.

Omake End

Well, hope you liked this one. A less refined version was shown to @kelllogo so I've gotten a few things straightened out.

Yes, Ramming Speed would work that way in no-flight zone, QM confirmed that. Also, it occurs to me that it might serve as a platform for Flight (Boosted) training somehow.

Starlancer as we were then was a formidable opponent we'd have needed a significant boost to win against. Versatility of Form and Double Hit would suffice, so here they are. Also, I thought it would be a suitably dramatic confrontation with the use of Red Rose's combo move, so again, hope you liked the spear vs spear battle. Forgive me for making it so short, but once Anna got Double Hit to combine with Crush and Rain of Blows, the result was no longer in doubt.

The reason I went for canceling Defensive Roll the during the combo is because of the description of the combo move. That the final target was the leg Anna has just planted into the ground. "You can't move it out of the way in time even if you started flying, what you can do is shift." In other words, no amount of normal defensive dodging, and Defensive Roll is just that, would work.

As I said before, Melt is a stronger version of Burn, "with better chance of body damage modifiers" - implication that Burn can also do them. And nothing says "body damage modifier" like having your leg speared right through with a red-hot spear. Conveniently, Lame is a suitable body damage modifier in nature AND in effect (-1 APT) to turn this fight around.

I've taken at least one liberty against the quest canon - specifically, fusing Mythril Spear.
Reason: Canon quote about Mythril Spear states that "'Weighing' it with your senses reveals that it's too 'dense' to absorb it" - but I figured out that shattering it when the original user is at death's door is a decent workaround.

If you are interested, all attacks were planned in concept, but the dice rolls and final results (including Starlancer dying to Burn) weren't.

The first turn was an attempt to overturn no-flight to take advantage of Ramming Speed modifier, and follow up with Collateral Damage indirect attack to prevent Intercept. Starlancer lost 2 attacks from speed gap and getting thrown off by explosion (which largerly negated defensive roll), but her throwing a spear and Anna coming the worse off from it were a surprise. She would have thrown her spear again but Anna still had enough to use Inhuman Skill so I refrained.

Second turn was always a Red Rose combo, with weapon (spear) dictating Crush, description of combo (five seconds and dozens of blows) dictating Rain of Blows, and my desire to inflict Lame status dictating Burn to aggravate the wound. With Master Skill vs Inhuman Skill, and using Inhuman-tier combo designed by a spear specialist, success was all but guaranteed. With Return on Mythril Spear, a form of retaliation was determined. And with Anna having 6+ APT, any initial attempts of actually attacking by Starlancer were irrelevant due to negation, so again I didn't bother writing up the "negated by inhuman skill" strings.

Third turn was meant to be a finishing blow against a crippled opponent, but I was honestly surprised Starlancer had (barely) survived the exchange, only to be guaranteed to expire to Burn. I was figuring Anna would need to use two attacks with clear overkill on her second one, but the result made me use a mortal wound instead.

The demons were clearly wary of Starlancer's might, so her being dismantled by a girl three growth affinity tiers her lesser would demoralize them

Additionally, while the results described above were determined in the original draft (and were preserved in the final omake), situational modifiers were tweaked in order to preserve the results.
1) I have cut the Ramming Speed spell damage in half, because I forgot to include Juggernaut in the first draft (one I never shared with anyone). It was always a method to get the Ramming Speed modifier for the Exploding Panoply, luckily the dice roll was high enough to cover for this blunder.
2) My lovely little modifier, +100 Crush and Burn, was used as a replacement for like four other modifiers, because I figured using one flavorful was better than using four barely supported by narrative. Similarly, the -100 Accepting the Blows modifier was also used as a unified modifier.
3) Red Like Roses, Opposed by Legendary Skill, and It's Your Blood That's Red Like Roses are obvious homage that didn't get any change... Except for one place where Legendary Skill was no longer narratively supported - in the Punch-Through damage calculation.
4) Turn 3 modifiers were the ones that were tweaked most of all. The first draft had 50% pseudo-RAGE called "Blood-Stained Battlefield", but I reworked it into Tranquil Fury (37.5%) and an additional +200 Implacable modifier. Implacable had the benefits of being equal bonus to that given by Light of Discovery, of resonating with one of Anna's affinities, and of being supported by the narrative I originally set up for the final exchange of blows.
This category houses the EXP and narrative rewards that may have been given to us had this happened in the quest proper, at least as far as I'd have liked them.
DISCLAIMER: The only thing we get from this omake is - Reflections of the Kaleidoscope EXP rewards.
Additional disclaimer - at least half of the EXP rewards (5/11 actually) is taken from actual quest verbatim.

Skill Tree Unlocked: Champion of Battle (Emulate Battle - Intercept - Fighting Spirit - Hypersonic - Punch-Through)
Skill Learned: Punch-Through (Fused Mythril Spear)
Fighting Spirit - basically a Battle-affinity spell that allows us to emulate the stacking Boost-Self spell Judgement of War Angels. Except it can be upgraded to Boost-All and increase targets. And doesn't give Armor Pierce. And maybe gives something to negate fear.
Yep, we did, plain and simple. Where her usual damage to us was in 1500-or-so damage level, we're much tougher now:

Mythril Spear: 0 Intercept Damage, +73 Dice, +5459 Punch-Through, -400 Lame, -200 Off-Hand, +300 Legendary Power = 5232 Total Damage
Magical Girl Summit: 680 Resilience, Dice Negated, +784 Reactive Field, -100 Accepting the Blows, +500 Resistant to Darkness Effects, -300 Hostile Legend Effect = 1564 Damage Reduction

60% Ceaseless Warrior
1468 Final End Damage

Magical Girl Summit: 7806 - 1468 = 6338 Health

If we check our damage reduction now, we're getting this:

Mythril Spear: 0 Intercept Damage, +700 Dice (max), +6600 Punch-Through, +300 Legendary Power = 7600 Total Damage
To Defy the Gods Triggers! Damage reduced to one third!
2534 Total Damage

452 Final End Damage

Yep, that's right, 4x Final End Damage reduction. 452 Damage - enough for us to be able to afford pushing for exchanges and come out on top.

If we raise our Aegis Field to 25 and purchase Formidable Defenses (1310 EXP total), we get a different calculation:

Magical GIrl Summit: 1500 Resilience, Dice Negated, +633 Reactive Field, +200 Resistant to Darkness Effects, -300 Hostile Legend Effect = 2033 Damage Reduction

Scratch Damage, more like. But honestly, what I desire to see the most is Aegis Field 30 calculation (1100+1350+420=2870 EXP total), which pushes our Base Resilience to 2100 and allows us to no-sell the effect entirely.

For the record, what we had then (Rain of Blows, Crush) will give us the following damage calculation:

(Panoply: 1400 Base Damage, Dice Negated, +280 Rain of Blows, +280 Rain of Blows, +280 Rain of Blows, +280 Rain of Blows, +280 Rain of Blows, +200 Light of Discovery, x3 CRUSH = 9000 Damage

9000-6600=2400, so Intercept Damage is at 2400-3099
Which means our actual End Damage will fluctuate between -80 and 1028, or FED 0-514. Without any situational modifiers. And even Ramming Speed or RAGE will give us enough to push it into guaranteed 1000+ FED (2100 extra damage after x3 Crush). Double of her best possible result, with us having almost double the actual hit points.

And finally, here's the desired EXP and action plan for when we meet her again, assuming she is still with the same traits as she was:

EXP Plan Burn The Witch Without A Scratch (up to 2940 EXP)
-Multi-Slash (70 EXP)
-Aegis Field ???-30 (up to 2450 EXP)
-Formidable Defenses x1 or x2 (210 or 420 EXP)

Action Plan Impale With Extreme Prejudice
-Panoply on Multi-Slash, Rain of Blows, Crush and Burn. Use form of Red Rose's spear.
-Close the distance and Impale With Extreme Prejudice.
-Don't forget to try nomming the Mythril Spear once step 2 is complete.
Omake was inspired by the following three episodes in story:

1) Red Rose had demonstrated her new spear combo to Summit, in a spear-using spar - in a dream/memory (Crossworlds 5). It was designed without taking flyers in mind, and when Summit shifted away from the blow Red Rose started crying her tears of blood (she always cries blood) and spooked Summit off. Probably because Summit's weapon and teleport were uncomfortably reminiscent of White Soul, but that's just my guess.
2) One of the default responses when confronting Starlancer (Crossworld 10 - Starlancer) was: "You aren't Red Rose, you'll never be Red Rose you filthy traitor."
3) The existence of a particular option, "Bloodsport", as a choice during the (Cutting Things Short(er)) decision on the conclusion of the infiltration attempt. It came before point #2 in narrative, but chronologically would be actually later, as Southern Staging Grounds are supposed to be further than Southern No Man's Land.

The relevant parts of the linked posts are in the spoiler below for your reading convenience.
You stride towards the field set aside as a training area. Inside its perimeter a white-haired Magical Girl (Purity, Faith, Divinity) with a gun larger than she is endures a lecture about dodging by another Magical Girl with long hair... (Battle, Blood, Legend).

It was Red Rose! You hurry to hear what she's saying, dust flying up in your wake.

"I know you saw me throw that, the high angle one was the first I threw. It wasn't a sneak attack, you just stuck in one place for the entire three seconds it took to hit you," she said with a tired tone, "It's not that hard, you've already figured out how to move your oversized cannon like a shield, now you need to work on moving to take advantage instead of floating in one spot like a dummy."

The girl with white hair rubs the back of her head while looking at the ground instead of responding.

Red Rose made a disgusted noise and pointed at a few spectators, "You, you, and you. Pick up the training javelins and throw them at Judgement Core until she starts putting some effort into not getting hit."

As Red Rose begins to stride away you fly near her and start trying to talk.

"Hi! Uh, I'm Magical Girl Summit, are you teaching people?"

Red Rose doesn't answer, but closes her eyes and takes a breath.

"I'm, I mean, the.... When I was little I thought you were amazing..." you trail off.

"I suppose I can give a few pointers. I did finish this Core's training ahead of schedule."

A few meters away a soldier dives under a clumsy swing from Judgement Core as another one throws a padded javelin at her face.

"Be warned, if you make errors I will correct them with force and pain. Live training is all about building quick and correct reactions."

You nod and hover after her to a different corner of the training area.

Red Rose spins her spear around with a flourish and plants the butt in the ground, "As a melee specialist you need to be able to keep tabs on your surroundings. Your allies need you to stand between them and the stronger foes, and your enemies will try to surround you. The instincts of a Magical Girl help, but to excel you need to practice until it's second nature, once you're good enough you will be able to sweep through dozens of foes without a wasted motion."

"My Panoply isn't just melee," you correct, "it has many forms and uses. I can even shoot with it."

The Panoply reacts to your thoughts and flows off of you to coil and twist in mid-air. Red Rose looks at it quietly for an uncomfortable span of time before responding.

"Can you turn it into a spear like mine? I could teach you a few tricks."

Moments later you hold a spear matched to Red Rose's, save that yours was black with a softly glowing orange tip. Red Rose nods, but lunges at you before she's even finished that gesture.

You dive to your left, Rose drags her spear on the ground to change direction and prep for an incredibly fast jab. Placing your spear in the path of her face spoils her attack, she nearly tumbles to avoid it.

With her offensive stalled you take a shallow leap to move yourself out of the areas she could easily stab, she responds by throwing her weapon to spin like a helicopter blade at you. You lose your shot at her when you use your own spear to catch it in the middle and guide it around yourself.

Spinning and holding yourself above the ground doesn't get you back into position to attack before Rose has risen to a crouch and called her spear back to hand. She raise one hand in a stop gesture.

"You've obviously had a lot of practice, would you be willing to help me refine a combo move I have?"

"Sure," you answer.

"Be sure to stay on the ground, I didn't make it with flying targets in mind."

You lower yourself to the ground and lower your spear to prepare for her assault. It doesn't take long, scant seconds after landing Red Rose launches a series of blindingly fast moves. Staying on the ground you find your options dwindling as strike after strike comes faster than you can prepare a response.

Five seconds and a dozen attacks later Red Rose whoops as she drives her spear at the leg you just planted into the ground. You can't move it out of the way in time even if you started flying, what you can do is shift.

The instant where Red Rose would have hit you finds you no longer there. You tap her back with your free hand.

"Oh, another thing I can do is teleport-"

Red Rose slams her spear into the ground and spins around to fix you with a glare. The smirk she had during her combo is gone, and blood has started to leak from her eyes.

"We're done. Leave."

You leap away with fear and gut feeling demanding you make yourself scarce.
[X] Confront Starlancer: Some pointed questions about what she was doing might clarify matters. Or it may just give her time to call in more monsters to vex you.
-[X] "You aren't Red Rose, you'll never be Red Rose you filthy traitor."
[X] Bloodsport
"Fight! Fight! Fight!
The Staging Grounds have become a brutal fight between demons as Summit provoked hundreds of demons to attack her and then teleported away when engulfed. This was going well for you until a Magical Girl grabbed Shah and Cook and introduced herself as Star Lancer (Light, Darkness, Legend).

She promises that they will live if you perish fighting her, but that she will otherwise kill them before hunting you down. You have the distinct impression she means every word, the demons present are hastily calming down and avoiding her.

(Too many actions at Staging Grounds -- Boss Battle! All equipment expended. Gets an introduction where you can make plans. +150 bonus EXP)
One important point to make that we had 506 EXP when making the choice, and the Bloodsport option grants a bonus +150 EXP (in addition to whatever additional EXP we could have earned). As such, I have used them to purchase Double Hit and another point of Versatility of Form (giving us Protean (3) on Panoply 26). That cost 50+490=540 EXP, well within our reach.
We had Panoply 26 (Protean 2), Aegis Field 17 (Reactive Field 15%) and Ceaseless Warrior 21, along with Peerless Explorer. We also had Halting 5 and Elsewhere 5. We also had Burn.
We did not have Omni-Caster, ability trees of "Shedding Blood", "Rising Flames" and "Pillar of Industry". We did not have Inchoate Wave or Aggressive Absorption, and neither did we have To Defy The Gods.

So, been bored waiting for updates here and in other MG quests, decided to flex my mind a bit for math.

So I decided to do the no-sell calculations for Summit today and with better Aegis Field. here's a few points I used:
1) I discounted Magic Modifier dice as unreliable-ish.
2) I discounted Armor Piercing abilities and special effects (like Summit reducing damage of Darkness-affinity sources by adding 10% its most significant digit (500 for 5560, 2000 for 29999 damage) to her resilience)
3) I have used both Aegis Field Base Resilience and Reactive Field in calculation
4) I have assumed we purchased Formidable Defenses (210 xp) every time it came up (multiple of 5 on Aegis Field)
5) I have included To Defy The Gods into calculation - it reduces incoming damage, so works well as a multiplier. The calculations are included within spoilers.
6) I have just gotten word from QM, that A Law Unto Yourself is an End Damage reducer (like Ceaseless Warrior) so it has no effect on the calculation.

Calculation is as follows:
1000 Base Resilience +[20% incoming damage] Reactive Field = [100% incoming damage] Damage Reduction.
1000 is 80%, so 1250 is 100%.

For sources of Myth, Legend, Epic, and Divine existence:
Myth - 2500 Damage No-Sell
Legend - 3750 Damage No-Sell
Epic - 5000 Damage No-Sell
Divine - 6250 Damage No-Sell
Calculation is as follows:
1500 Base Resilience +[25% incoming damage] Reactive Field = [100% incoming damage] Damage Reduction.
1500 is 75%, so 2000 is 100%

For sources of Myth, Legend, Epic, and Divine existence:
Myth - 4000 Damage No-Sell
Legend - 6000 Damage No-Sell
Epic - 8000 Damage No-Sell
Divine - 10000 Damage No-Sell
Calculation is as follows:
2100 Base Resilience +[30% incoming damage] Reactive Field = [100% incoming damage] Damage Reduction.
2100 is 70%, so 3000 is 100%

For sources of Myth, Legend, Epic, and Divine existence:
Myth - 6000 Damage No-Sell
Legend - 9000 Damage No-Sell
Epic - 12000 Damage No-Sell - Goddess Grey has Base Damage 1000, Magic Modifier 9999. We can "not die immediately" to her base attacks at this point.
Divine - 15000 Damage No-Sell
Calculation is as follows:
2800 Base Resilience +[35% incoming damage] Reactive Field = [100% incoming damage] Damage Reduction.
2800 is 65%, so 4307.7 is 100%

For sources of Myth, Legend, Epic, and Divine existence:
Myth - 8614 Damage No-Sell
Legend - 12921 Damage No-Sell
Epic - 17228 Damage No-Sell
Divine - 21535 Damage No-Sell
Calculation is as follows:
3600 Base Resilience +[40% incoming damage] Reactive Field = [100% incoming damage] Damage Reduction.
3600 is 60%, so 6000 is 100%

For sources of Myth, Legend, Epic, and Divine existence:
Myth - 12000 Damage No-Sell
Legend - 18000 Damage No-Sell
Epic - 24000 Damage No-Sell
Divine - 30000 Damage No-Sell
Calculation is as follows:
4500 Base Resilience +[45% incoming damage] Reactive Field = [100% incoming damage] Damage Reduction.
4500 is 55%, so 8181.8 is 100%

For sources of Myth, Legend, Epic, and Divine existence:
Myth - 16362 Damage No-Sell
Legend - 24543 Damage No-Sell
Epic - 32724 Damage No-Sell
Divine - 40905 Damage No-Sell
Calculation is as follows:
5500 Base Resilience +[50% incoming damage] Reactive Field = [100% incoming damage] Damage Reduction.
5500 is 50%, so 11000 is 100%

For sources of Myth, Legend, Epic, and Divine existence:
Myth - 22000 Damage No-Sell
Legend - 33000 Damage No-Sell
Epic - 44000 Damage No-Sell
Divine - 55000 Damage No-Sell

Fun Fact #1 - Goddess Grey has Base Damage 1000, Magic Modifier 9999 (and Epic Affinity for +400/-400). With Aegis Field 30, we can "not die immediately" to her base attacks.
Attendum - Keep in mind she has her Trump Card spell (55 000 damage), her other spell, 5 abilities that were never defined, 2 abilities that were defined only by a name (one of which is The Grinder), and 1 Overwhelming Presence. Oh, also Unmatched Skill and one Super Ability that is currently locked.

Fun Fact #2 - Goddess Red (with her present for 100% Overwhelming Presence damage boost) has her Black Knight deal (5000+400)x2 Damage - we need Aegis Field 25 to no-sell it without her, and Aegis Field 30 to no-sell it with her present. Otherwise, her only other ways to deal with us are her mystery ability, her mystery 3rd summon, or Magical Girls she resurrected.

Fun Fact #3 - I think Goddess Red's Overwhelming Presence "All opponent's damage is reduced by 50%. Damaged caused by Goddess Red's minions is increased by 100%" also works on resurrected Magical Girls, or resurrected anyone for that matter.

Fun Fact #4 - I think it means meeting Goddess Grey while she is in presence of Goddess Red is highly, highly inadvisable... As in, "I need Aegis Field 45" inadvisable.

Quick calculations give us 19500 at Aegis Field 60, 26000 at Aegis Field 65, 35000 at Aegis Field 70, 48000 at Aegis Field 75, 68000 at Aegis Field 80, 102'000 at Aegis Field 85, 171'000 at Aegis Field 90, 380'000 at Aegis Field 95, and UNDEFINED at Aegis Field 100.
TL: DR version - discounting Magic Modifier, 1250 damage now, 2000 at Aegis Field 25, 3000 at Aegis Field 30 - the latter, with To Defy The Gods, will make us safe-ish from base attacks of Goddess Grey and Goddess Red's Black Knight.

Also, it's 6000 at Aegis field 40, 11000 at Aegis Field 50, etc...

EDIT: When I say safe-ish it means we need to score 255 (of 700) on our MM roll to have a guaranteed no-sell even against the highest value of theirs, while Goddess Grey will need to roll at least 8320 (of 9999) to deal any damage to us (as in, our MM roll is 1). Black Knight though requires 190 MM on our part to no-sell it (flat value).

EDIT #2: If we meet Goddess Grey with Goddess Red at the same time, we're dooooooomed. Because we need Aegis Field 40 to become mostly safe from Grey (22800/4=5700 Damage vs 5480 Damage Reduction, or 220 damage vs d700 - she starts damaging us on roll of 9250)

This one is somewhat more involved, since we're going to have to go from the back-end of the calculation (Final End Damage), and include both Ceaseless Warrior and Aegis Field health boosts. Ground Rules:

1) I I discounted Magic Modifier dice as unreliable-ish. If need be, assume it rolls no higher than 1000 (Panoply 50).
5) I have just gotten word from QM, that A Law Unto Yourself is an End Damage reducer (like Ceaseless Warrior). Since it means Damage Reduction is "doubled" for Rule-affinity opponents, we need to break down the calculation into "Rule" and "No-Rule" blocks. It's given as a [Number]/[Number] format, with the lower corresponding to No-Rule block.
6) I have NOT included To Defy The Gods into the calculation - multiply the One-Shot value from the appropriate column to determine the incoming damage from such an entity.

First, the calculations with current Ceaseless Warrior value:
Calculations are as follows:
14500 HP - base health.
14500/0.4=36250 HP - Ceaseless Warrior, effective health
36250/0.5=72500 HP - A Law Unto Itself, effective health vs Rule Affinity opponents

Damage Reduction = 1000 Base Resilience + (20% incoming damage)
Damage Reduction + Effective Health = 100% incoming damage
Effective Health + 1000 = 80% incoming damage
1.25*Effective Health+1250 = 100% incoming damage

91875 damage (93125 with MM 1000) - Rule-affinity One-shot
46562 damage (47812 with MM 1000) - non-Rule-affinity One-shot
Calculations are as follows:
18000 HP - base health.
18000/0.4=45000 HP - Ceaseless Warrior, effective health

22500 HP - base health.
22500/0.4=56250 HP - Ceaseless Warrior, effective health

Damage Reduction = 2100 Base Resilience + (30% incoming damage)
Damage Reduction + Effective Health = 100% incoming damage
Effective Health + 2100 = 70% incoming damage
10/7*Effective Health+3000 = 100% incoming damage

163'714 damage (165'142 with MM 1000) - Rule-affinity One-shot
83'357 damage (84'785 with MM 1000) - non-Rule-affinity One-shot

Next, the calculations with Ceaseless Warrior 25 value:
Calculations are as follows:
16500 HP - base health.
16500/0.4=41250 HP - Ceaseless Warrior, effective health
41250/0.5=82500 HP - A Law Unto Itself, effective health vs Rule Affinity opponents

Damage Reduction = 1000 Base Resilience + (20% incoming damage)
Damage Reduction + Effective Health = 100% incoming damage
Effective Health + 1000 = 80% incoming damage
1.25*Effective Health+1250 = 100% incoming damage

104'375 damage (105'625 with MM 1000) - Rule-affinity One-shot
52687 damage (53937 with MM 1000) - non-Rule-affinity One-shot
Calculations are as follows:
20000 HP - base health.
20000/0.4=50000 HP - Ceaseless Warrior, effective health
50000/0.5=100'000 HP - A Law Unto Itself, effective health vs Rule Affinity opponents

Damage Reduction = 1500 Base Resilience + (25% incoming damage)
Damage Reduction + Effective Health = 100% incoming damage
Effective Health + 1500 = 75% incoming damage
4/3*Effective Health+2000 = 100% incoming damage

135'333 damage (136'667 with MM 1000) - Rule-affinity One-shot
68'666 damage (70'000 with MM 1000) - non-Rule-affinity One-shot
Calculations are as follows:
24500 HP - base health.
24500/0.4=61250 HP - Ceaseless Warrior, effective health
61250/0.5=122'500 HP - A Law Unto Itself, effective health vs Rule Affinity opponents

Damage Reduction = 2100 Base Resilience + (30% incoming damage)
Damage Reduction + Effective Health = 100% incoming damage
Effective Health + 2100 = 70% incoming damage
10/7*Effective Health+3000 = 100% incoming damage

178'000 damage (179'428 with MM 1000) - Rule-affinity One-shot
90'500 damage (91'928 with MM 1000) - non-Rule-affinity One-shot

Finally, the calculations with Ceaseless Warrior 30 value:
Calculations are as follows:
19000 HP - base health.
19000/0.4=46250 HP - Ceaseless Warrior, effective health
41250/0.5=92500 HP - A Law Unto Itself, effective health vs Rule Affinity opponents

Damage Reduction = 1000 Base Resilience + (20% incoming damage)
Damage Reduction + Effective Health = 100% incoming damage
Effective Health + 1000 = 80% incoming damage
1.25*Effective Health+1250 = 100% incoming damage

116'875 damage (118'125 with MM 1000) - Rule-affinity One-shot
59062 damage (60187 with MM 1000) - non-Rule-affinity One-shot
Calculations are as follows:
22500 HP - base health.
22500/0.4=55000 HP - Ceaseless Warrior, effective health
55000/0.5=110'000 HP - A Law Unto Itself, effective health vs Rule Affinity opponents

Damage Reduction = 1500 Base Resilience + (25% incoming damage)
Damage Reduction + Effective Health = 100% incoming damage
Effective Health + 1500 = 75% incoming damage
4/3*Effective Health+2000 = 100% incoming damage

148'666 damage (150'000 with MM 1000) - Rule-affinity One-shot
75'333 damage (76'667 with MM 1000) - non-Rule-affinity One-shot
Calculations are as follows:
27000 HP - base health.
27000/0.4=66250 HP - Ceaseless Warrior, effective health
66250/0.5=132'500 HP - A Law Unto Itself, effective health vs Rule Affinity opponents

Damage Reduction = 2100 Base Resilience + (30% incoming damage)
Damage Reduction + Effective Health = 100% incoming damage
Effective Health + 2100 = 70% incoming damage
10/7*Effective Health+3000 = 100% incoming damage

192'285 damage (193'713 with MM 1000) - Rule-affinity One-shot
97'642 damage (99'070 with MM 1000) - non-Rule-affinity One-shot

Finally, as a bonus, CW 30 AF 40 and CW 30 AF 50 calculations:
Calculations are as follows:
39000 HP - base health.
39000/0.4=96250 HP - Ceaseless Warrior, effective health
96250/0.5=192'500 HP - A Law Unto Itself, effective health vs Rule Affinity opponents

Damage Reduction = 3600 Base Resilience + (40% incoming damage)

Calculations are as follows:
55000 HP - base health.
55000/0.4=137'500 HP - Ceaseless Warrior, effective health
137'500/0.5=275'000 HP - A Law Unto Itself, effective health vs Rule Affinity opponents

Damage Reduction = 5500 Base Resilience + (50% incoming damage)
Damage Reduction + Effective Health = 100% incoming damage
Effective Health + 5500 = 50% incoming damage
2*Effective Health+11000 = 100% incoming damage

561'000 damage (563'000 with MM 1000) - Rule-affinity One-shot
286'000 damage (288'000 with MM 1000) - non-Rule-affinity One-shot
TL: DR version - discounting magic modifier and rounding up the values, discounting TDTG and Unstoppable, Summit is one-shot with 47k/92k hit now, 62k/122k at Aegis Field 25, and 84k/164k at Aegis Field 30.

Unstoppable drops it to 37/73k, 45/90k, and 57/113k correspondingly. +5k/+10k at Ceaseless Warrior 25, and +13k/+25k at Ceaseless Warrior 30.

TDTG multiplier is applied after both Unstoppable and Ceaseless Warrior modifiers are applied.

EDIT #3: Bored again. Decided to see how Solid Core vs Summit will go. Result - definite one-shot, courtesy of The Insurmountable Gap.
It started with an idle thought - "can Summit deplete Solid Core's health via Ray?"
Then I decided to see how it will go. Several assumptions were made:

1) Protagonist Powers make both Summit and Solid Core move before anyone else
2) Divinity makes Solid Core move before Summit, who moves before everyone else besides Solid Core
3) Solid Core is determined to take Summit down, but not enough to spam Celestial Severance. Starshine is her opening move.
4) No Strength In Numbers allows Solid Core to negate Target: Army aspect of Starshine. Somehow. Not the Quadra-Magic or Rain of Light, though I do suspect now that Summit has a "negate multi-hit effects" gated behind something.
5) In the same time, surviving Starshine somehow counts as being hit by 44 attacks and allows Summit to fuel her Ceaseless Warrior for a massed retaliation.
6) Both of them are in the air, so Supremacy Zone comes into play.

Thus, damage calculation was born.

(Starshine: 3508 Base Damage, No Dice, +3508 Rain of Light, +3508 Rain of Light, +3508 Rain of Light, +3508 Rain of Light, +3508 Rain of Light, +3508 Rain of Light, +3508 Rain of Light, +3508 Rain of Light, +3508 Rain of Light, +3508 Rain of Light, +500 Divine Power = 39088 Total Damage

The Insurmountable Gap triggers! 29548 Final End Damage

Summit: 14500-29548 = -15048 Health)

If we model Summit with Aegis Field 30 (22500 Health, 2100 Base Resilience, 14071 Reactive Field), we get 31140 TED and 12456 24912 Final End Damage.

Still, since I'm still curious, let's model Ray attack on Solid Core. Panoply has Ray, Multi Shot, Danmaku. Unfortunately, not very clear on how Ordnance works, so it's passed over. Had we purchased that flak turret, it would have had Anti-Air.

(Ray Panoply: 1400 Base Damage, +672 Dice, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +1400 Ray Trigger, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +1400 Ray Trigger, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +1400 Ray Trigger, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +1400 Ray Trigger, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +1400 Ray Trigger, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +1400 Ray Trigger, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +1400 Ray Trigger, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +1400 Ray Trigger, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +1400 Ray Trigger, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +1400 Ray Trigger, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +1400 Ray Trigger, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +1400 Ray Trigger, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +1400 Ray Trigger, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +1400 Ray Trigger, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +1400 Ray Trigger, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +1400 Ray Trigger, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +1400 Ray Trigger, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +1400 Ray Trigger, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +1400 Ray Trigger, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +1400 Ray Trigger, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +1400 Ray Trigger, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +1400 Ray Trigger, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +1400 Ray Trigger, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +350 Danmaku, +200 Light of Discovery = 128'272 Total Damage

So yeah, we need to have that Anti-Air, to have enough HSQ to actually track Solid Core, and to catch her in her first turn of combat to make her save-from-death trigger.

Floral Glory isn't acting normally. She usually fidgets a bit and periodically frowns, right now she's staring blankly at the door and playing instrumental music through her headphones. Could she be tired? You remember battles were quite draining for you in the past.

There's a simple enough method to check, "Floral Glory? Are you feeling alright?"

Her eyes snap to yours and she starts briefly before rolling her face into the fabric of her cot. "Yeah, I'm okay."

"I was wondering if your were exhausted by the recent conflict. It is good to hear you are okay. Were you particularly injured to need to be checked over? Should I take you to your room?"

"What?" Floral Glory looks up at you and starts giggling, "Do-do…" she lets out another bark of laughter, coughs, and laughs again with tears starting to gather at the edges of her eyes.

"I-You… Now" she coughs once more and lets out a hacking sob. "They're trying to kill us!" she wails.

You aren't quite sure what to say. After running her last sentence through you head a few times you risk a response. "The forces of Hell have been attempting to kill us for years."

There. Something she can agree with or clarify. It strikes you as pretty odd that Floral would find Earth's war with Hell to be amusing or immediately distressing. As a Magical Girl herself she should be well aware of the conflict.

She doesn't reply quickly, if anything her crying intensifies as she wails into her cot and shakes. After a few minutes she raises her her head while sniveling to look at you through teary eyes. This seems to drain her somewhat and she shoves her face into a dry section of her cot and sniffs loudly for a minute or so.

"I'm not stupid. I know that-" she takes a breath and continues talking with her face pressed into her cot, "that Hell and everything has been after us. It's just that it's always felt different, like it wasn't me that was out there fighting."

"I've been in fights like that. Everything feels handled and you just fall into place with the right plan. Other times your heart drops and there's nothing to do but run. And recently I've had times where a plan comes to me after a moment."

Floral raise her damp face to look at you, "It's worse for me, you're perfect! Fearless, calm, composed. But when I try to do things I am always! Fucking! Useless!"

She takes a shaky breath. "That's why it's so bad when I end up being Amber. That thing was after me, wanted to make me suffer before it killed me, wanted to, to ruin me." she brings a hand up to wipe her eyes and sniffs again, "If she hadn't wanted to wave me around I would be dead now. And I couldn't do anything. What if there's something else out there?"

You turn words over in your head for a moment. This is so odd, she's brimming with power compared to you. How can she doubt herself so much?

"You'll be ready for it. When something worse shows up your power will have swelled from this challenge and you will win. Or you might catch that feeling of dread quicker and avoid it. That's kept me alive and my magic grows much slower than yours."

"But I couldn't do anything…" Floral sighs.

"Magical Girl Floral Glory, within you is the power to grow and overcome. Remember your need, the ability you felt you lacked when facing that monster, hold on to that need and focus on it. You will become stronger. What you need will be there." you say firmly.

Floral fidgets in place before sitting up on her cot, "Uh. I wasn't missing anything, I just couldn't win against her."

She didn't quite understand what you were trying to say. How else did it feel when you began growing in power?

"Don't think that way, when you were fighting you were going to win. It was never impossible, there was just something that you didn't overcome this time. What did you need to be able to do?"

"Ugh! There wasn't anything I could do! She was just invincible."

"It wasn't invincible. Arc Mastermind dispatched it with one shot."

"I can't do what she does, okay. I'm just…" Floral takes a deep breath. "This sort of stuff never goes my way. My parents could both use magic, my older sister and brother could use magic, even the twins both got magic, but I didn't. For years they were always smarter, or stronger, or more popular than me. And even when I did become a Magical Girl I'm still a fuck-up, everyone still does everything better. Did I ever tell you about why I joined the Counter Force? To meet girls. But I still mess everything up that I try to do, it only works out when the magic takes over."

The pair of you are silent for a bit after that, broken by Floral sniffing loudly and wiping her face again.

"Let it take over. But make sure to remember what you needed."

"Fine." she says weakly.

With that she pulls off the headphones and stands up. You follow as she leaves the tent you were resting in and walks around the pallets of items arranged around it. She hops onto a stony outcropping and points at the piles of rubble that mark the beginning of the UD's fortifications.

"Here goes nothing…"

Nothing happens. A chill breeze flutters her skirt and hair, but she otherwise remains still.

"If this works you have to take me shopping, okay." Floral Glory says in a flat tone.

"Master Spark."

Light rays twist around her pointer finger for a moment, then a stream of light dozens of feet wide erupts out of her hand. In the light of dawn it still brightens the valleys with multiple hues. A fraction of a second after the first ray sees a second fire from her other hand and dig into the ground at her feet.

She loses her footing as her footing is blasted away. Her spell stopping as she swings her arms to try and keep balanced. Two Floral Glorys fall different ways into the new depression in the ground, one fades away as nothing but an illusion and the other pushes herself back to her feet.

"Still counts. I think I'm supposed to cast that differently." she remarks in a detached way, before smirking, "You owe me a shopping trip."

That felt a little unfair. Last you checked you barely had any money left and you weren't sure how much you were getting paid or even if you had been paid yet. That, among other reasons, was why you had gone to Firebase Momo in the first place. Still, even if it was a little annoying you would probably have saved up a bit by the time you could get back to Earth for shopping.

"When we're both back on earth I'll take you shopping then."

"Back on Earth? Oh, you've never been to the exchange. Don't worry, we can head there and get stuff right now. I'll even let you carry me." Floral steps out of the small crater she made.

You shift in place for a bit, money was a bit awkward for you. "I don't have enough to take you shopping. Last week I had less than a hundred dollars and I don't think I've gotten paid for being in the Counter Force yet."

Floral Glory tilted her head after a second, "Um, did no one explain the bounty system? We should be rolling in cash right now, even with the base taking 70% off the top. I'll call Abby and she can check your balance."

She pulls out her Datamine and taps at the screen, "Every time we kill an enemy there's a payout. So when I turn a few thousand demons into bloody flower petals I also get a few thousand dollars even with General Manners taking most of it. Us Magical Girls get preference in the system so we can expect to get some of the bounty in minutes, you've got plenty of money."

That's nice to hear. It would be nice to have some money again, rent and therapy expenses had been distressingly high for the stipend you had been living on before arriving at Firebase Momo.

"Hi Abby, this is Floral Glory! Can you give Magical Girl Summit her current balance?"

She holds the datamine near you for a moment before holding it up to your ear and bringing her head next to yours.

"There we go. Summit's current balance is negative 18,087 credits." a perky voice on the phone offers.

"What!?" Floral shouts almost into your ear, "What about all the stuff she beat? The giant crab and Arc's nemesis? How is it negative?"

"Oh… transactions say, uh, neither Massy or Lunatic Psyker are kills, so there's no payout. A batch is pending, but Major Gordon is disputing Summit's claims so the ones you fought on your own won't be paid out until that's resolved." Abby says quickly. "The negative is because you were charged for the gaming computer you wanted. That will be paid from bounties and salary, so you don't need to worry about it."

Drat, so much for having money. "I understand."

"I don't. Can't you clear the dispute or figure why she isn't getting paid? We both almost died out here. And, and Summit has been busy fixing tanks for days. There has to be something paid for that." Floral insists.

"I'll look into it. It's odd seeing a Magical Girl without a bunch of money here, until then you could certainly afford to treat her miss millionaire."

"Thank you." you say into the datamine.

"Wait. Don't just say that, Summit's worked really hard and she shouldn't owe you money after everything." Floral whines.

"This isn't like transfering money to vendors or relatives. I need to submit tickets to people who aren't even on base to figure out what's going on with your remuneration. Until they answer there's not much I can-. Oh, pardon me."

The datamine goes silent.

"Are you still there? Just give half my bounties to Summit then, she saved my life today." Floral says.

"Summit's balance is now 31,913 credits. Signals transferred funds for 'services rendered', I don't even want to know… I'll still work on the dispute of course. That shouldn't apply from off-world actors."

Floral slips her datamine into a pocket of her skirt and grins at you, "There, I solved your money problem. Let's go waste some of it."

"What's a credit? How much is that in dollars?"

"That's simple, five credits is worth a dollar. There's more to it, but most people understand dollars just fine. Just remember that prices here are all in credits."

With that Floral shifts to hug you from behind and shifts into a piggy-back stance, "Onward, I need to show you the magical land known as the exchange!"
----

It was a mall.

When you had seen it before you assumed it was a motor pool. But the field of light trucks and other equipment was actually a car dealership. One that did brisk business judging by the dozens of elves being instructed in driving. There was even a richly-dressed woman stacking silver bars on a scale.

Inside prefab walls had been arranged to make a wide pavilion. The floor was concrete with irregular tiles inset. Shops ranged from a pair of tables and cloth walls to a fully-furnished steak restaurant. Potted trees dotted the main pathway and hundreds of elves mingled through the stores despite the early hour.

Floral Glory almost skips, her prior energy apparently restored as she leads you along the interior plaza. "I know some great clothing places, we visit the food court afterwards."

"Why do I need more clothing? I spend almost all my time transformed."

Floral smirks, "Because you can get the things you buy here tailored by elven artisans. When you find a guy you don't want to head out to a movie in your war outfit, do you? So I'll help you find something cute for all occasions. It's fun and you've got some money for nice things now."

You should give it a shot since Floral seems fond of it. You wanted to cheer her up after all. She picks a large department store that takes up one of the central corners and beelines for the clothing racks.

The next ten minutes are a blur as Floral darts around holding all sorts of tops, pants, and skirts against you. About a fifth of them were draped over your Panoply and the rest left littering tables around you.

"That should do as a start. Now to get you measured and start Zyra working on them so they'll be fitted to you." Floral declares.

A quick visit to the checkout line sees you about four thousand 'credits' poorer. That means each of the 17 items cost an average of more than 44 dollars. Steep, but having a stack of new items that are yours is a nice feeling.

The next stop is a small workshop with plastic crates of clothes forming a dividing line between two sewing desks. The single elf running the shop waves the pair of you in with a wide smile as you approach.

"Honored customers! If you need any alterations or repairs done we have the greatest tailor of this world accepting commissions."

Floral appears to know her. The pair exchange greetings and you find yourself being measured in rapid fire fashion after handing your recent purchases over. Your pretty sure the clerk wrote down five times the measurements she actually took.

It didn't even take three minutes before Floral pays two thousand microTalents and you're reassured that your clothes will be adjusted to fit you by sundown.

"That was quick. What does the food court have?"

"Oh no, I'm not done yet. Now you need a cute swimsuit." Floral grins.

"I can swim in this," you gesture to the bodysuit that makes up part of your magical girl outfit, "it works fairly well."

Floral frowns, "That's rude to the other people swimming. Your outfit could get caked in gore or other things, do you want people to swallow that? And it isn't doing your body many favors."

"My abilities let me remake it when necessary."

"Does everyone know that? Wearing a special outfit to pools lets everyone relax because they know you aren't dragging work grime with you. And everyone needs something to look at to clean their eyes from all the dudes wearing speedos. Horrible trend that."

Floral nods her head firmly and sets off through the sparse crowd.

As the crowd parts you realize exactly where she's headed.

"No, I'm not going in there." You were willing to entertain her to a point, but not to the extent of modeling fancy underwear.

"What? You haven't even seen the swimsuit yet. It's adorable, I promise." Floral turns around and lightly tugs your arm.
----

"This is pretty cute."

You have to admit that the one-piece swimsuit is rather pretty. You had been concerned that Floral Glory would try to get you to wear the bare minimum. This one wasn't anything like what you had worried about. The fabric was dark green and shone faintly metallic, thoroughly covering skin but accentuating your figure. Ruffles gave some extra coverage to your chest and hips as well.

"Cute? You're positively adorable with that smile." Floral Glory comments while leaning against a display of t-shirts.

"Are you sure it's on sale? It still says 449 on the label."

"Of course it's on sale, just let me talk to Andy and wear it to the checkout." she gives a thumbs-up.

You step next to the register while Floral hails Andy, a woman just over six feet tall with striking pink and blonde hair and an obvious prosthetic replacing most of her left hand. Floral points a thumb at you, Andy shrugs and drops the bra she had been placing on the shelf back in a basket.

"Getting ready for a tropical getaway? I've been having the hardest time selling swimsuits so I can give you half off on that one."

That was easy. You pull your Datamine out of your Panoply and start authorizing the payment app.

"Come on Andy. Can't you give her a better deal? She hasn't gotten paid yet and I had to save her during the attacks." Floral Glory asks.

Andy crosses her arms and raises an eyebrow at Floral, "Fine. No one's been buying swimsuits from me since Eddie got time on the uniform fabbers. Our impoverished hero can pick it up for twenty dollars."

She picks out the Datamine from your hand and scans it after punching something into the computer. "Enjoy your purchase. I think it fits you pretty well."

"Thank you." you say as Andy gives you a receipt and your Datamine.

"If you want to pick up some cute underwear I can make some suggestions." Floral grins.

"No… all these things seem pretty expensive."

Andy rubs her forehead for a moment and walks back to the basket she was sorting.

"All the stuff here is expensive for us. First they take 70% of our bounties and then everyone that isn't a Magical Girl gets 50% off." Floral mutters.

"I know for a fact that you've gotten more money in a single night than I make in a month Miss Glory. Remember when you were bragging about your bounties?" Andy shoots back without looking.

"Okay, okay, we get the hint. Let's check out some other stores and let Andy get ready to sell tons of stuff to the elves later today." Floral says.

"Give me a moment to change back." you reply while ducking to a changing booth.

A minute later you've tucked your new swimsuit into a pouch of your lab coat and exit the booth. Floral is chatting with a pink haired girl holding a scythe (Death, Light, Legend). A chain extends from the scythe and trails out of sight.
"-For more than four months and would be happy to answer questions." Floral finishes.

"Thanks. It's all new to me. I was getting nervous about what I was supposed to be doing." the pink-haired Magical Girl says.

"Oh, hey Summit. This is Shapeless Isle, she noticed us walking around and wanted some pointers."

"I haven't seen her before. How did you notice us?"

Shapeless Isle turns away from your gaze and taps her foot for a bit, "Um. You must not have seen me when-"

"I would have seen and remembered. I can identify magic by sight and Magical Girls are distinctive." you press.

You split your attention to her pose and weapon. She's holding her scythe close to herself and between you and her. It might have some sort of defensive effect. The chain seems to somehow slide out of your attention when you track it, it bothers you and you suspect it will have a way to entangle you from nowhere.

"Summit! What the hell!" Floral steps between you and Isle.

"It's suspicious that she has somehow tracked us without me noticing. In light of-"

"I'm sorry! I transformed in a maintenance hallway!" she blurts out.

Ah. Thinking back you can recall a girl who had started to approach you twice. Shapeless Isle does have a similar build and stance…

"See? She's just another girl like you fighting here. There are a lot of us after all." Floral chides, "I should let you get some food, you get paranoid when hungry apparently."

"Thanks." Isle says softly while pulling her hood over her eyes with one hand and hugging her weapon close with the other.

You stand awkwardly for several seconds before Floral grabs your hand and starts leading you along, "Food is this way."

Isle follows after as Floral sets a brisk pace. The center has become noticeably busier in the time you spent shopping and the three of you draw a lot of stares as you head to the center plaza and down one of the shorter branches. At the end of this branch a number of tables are set up and a pair of coffee shops are handling long lines. Other food vendors are less busy, but the one with a visible grill is selling pancakes like hotcakes.

You shake yourself loose and beeline towards the place with the shortest line. Ever since you got burned and healed earlier you've been growing steadily hungrier. Hovering above the ground to get a better view somehow convinces the four people ahead of you in line to let you head past them. Which lets you quickly head back to Floral with an entire pizza and two bottles of milk.

"-Sounds a little weird, but it's kept having Magical Girls show up in the nick of time so wander away if you feel the need. Just make sure you don't misplace the badge or your Datamine." finishes Floral as you sit down at a nearby table.

"Oh. I expected more structure." Shapeless Isle says.

Floral shrugs, "They try to have someone keep track of what we can do, but it's mostly left to us how to improve." she turns to you, "Why'd you only get two drinks?"

"This is all for me." you answer before tearing into your first slice.

She doesn't say anything for a moment before taking the seat next to you and showing her Datamine to Shapeless Isle. "Ah, well. The map program is pretty bad, but I can show you some landmark pictures that should help you get from Black's office to the dorms."

Isle grabs the chain with a hand and does some twirling that somehow results in a net of chains for her to perch on next to Floral. This results in Floral trailing off and ducking her head lower. Shapeless reconfigures herself to something closer to leaning on the floating chains.

"Sorry. I'm not trying to make your friend angry." she says with a blush.

Floral snaps her eyes from Isle's thighs back to her Datamine, "We aren't dating…" she trails off at the end.

You drain a bottle of milk and start eating two slices together for easier handling. Floral stays quiet and Isle slides a little closer.

"A little while ago I asked and she isn't ...interested. Right Summit? When I asked if you were normal." Floral nudges you.

You swallow and nod before taking another bite.

Shapeless Isle touches Floral Glory's shoulder and the pair look at each other quietly for a bit. You finish your fourth and fifth pieces and open the second bottle of milk.

"So you aren't dating any Magical Girls either?" Isle asks.

You consider trying to eat the last bit of food and decide against it.

"I have to visit Signals in three minutes. And congratulations again on figuring out a new spell."

Floral starts at that, "What! Oh. I mean, thanks for the tip and for being there."

With that you Shift away to make your appointment
----

You hadn't expected to find one of the Divinity girls at Signals. Both of the white-haired girls (Purity, Faith, Divinity) are present in the main room, the older of the pair is sleeping at a desk while the younger was pacing back and forth.

She stops to give you a critical eye, "You don't look like much."

"I remember you. You're Solid Core's 'cute little girlfriend'." you reply.

The white-haired Core wrinkles her nose at that, "Does everyone know about that?" she sits on a large gun with a disgusted groan.

"Summit is tougher than she looks." the signals officer watching them adds.

"What did you need me for?" you ask.

She holds a finger to her lips in a 'shush' gesture before pointing at the Divinity girls. "Anna will explain when she arrives. We have some info relevant to you."

The time is actually a bit past when you were told to arrive, but a woman identical to the one manning the desk arrives before you mention it. The newer woman, Anna, is carrying a metal clipboard and directs you to a hallway and a small room with a spartan desk and two chairs.

"Magical Girl Summit. I want to commend you for your efforts in the last twenty-four hours. We've intercepted a message from Magical Girl Silver Regent that concerns you."

She pushes a thumb against the clipboard and it opens. You take the offered document and start reading.

Anna Sanchez, Magical Girl Summit, is a skilled and dangerous combatant. Disregard all prior estimates of her power, she has proven capable of single-handedly defeating one of the Milidia sentinels. Starlancer reports she withstood multiple strikes that slay a War Angel.

Pardon the cliche, but it's personal now. Anna is to considered a strategic threat because her space-warping abilities are anticipated to be capable of closing most portals. Bounty paid for Anna's corpse has been raised to 120 times the standard bounty for a Counter Force Legend-Maker. No bounty will be paid without presenting the body as she's stationed near the Emissaries of Light, who may be able to revive her if given the opportunity. In addition, Anna may be undergoing protagonist syndrome -- likely due to her finally being provided with powerful weapons to consume.

Anna is an incredibly mobile Magical Girls. She flies, teleports, and can transition across dimensions under her own power. In Counter Force tests she exceeded 150 miles per hour, and could teleport almost half a mile in one go. This makes her ability to fire from a "few" miles away (the report didn't have hard numbers for her effective range) quite worrying. Absent other factors she could teleport and fly away to open up range, then bombard with near-impunity. Sources suggest that rain slows her flight considerably and limits her teleport range.

Thankfully her offensive power is relatively anemic. Up close Anna tends to smash into enemies with an angel-sized rocket-boosted club, which becomes even more violent when she's charging at 150+ miles per hour from the sky.

An important limitation of her weapon is that it can only mimic a single form at a time. She must choose between rapid fire, the large club, a charge-up mode, long range fire, and explosive strikes. It is also able to move on its own and make slam attacks or fire streams of light at all times. Do not expect to be able to restrain or disarm her easily.

She has two spells for short range. The first is Ramming Speed, which accelerates her to high speed. A caveat is that it makes her briefly invincible while she's charging at you and the effect has significant armor penetrating force. The second, and more dangerous, spell is Wave Force. On the report it was classified as a "Bad Touch with some range", it causes severe damage on contact. When Anna is preparing to use this effect there is a significant wind up time, between 1.5 and 2.5 seconds, where she needs to hold still. If Anna comes to a stop while within 35 feet of you immediately run away from her. The short range and wind up make it possible to dodge this effect. It flows around most defenses, but unconnected constructs or minions can absorb the attack.

Summit's defensives are effective, but not insurmountable. Swarm tactics are noted to be completely useless, Marax once sent over three thousand reanimated corpses and she fought them all at once. Past that any attack must be capable of hurting war angels to be effective. Armor penetrating effects or heavy damage is recommended. These attacks also need to be able to land hits on her while she's zipping around at her top speed.

I am currently trying to assemble a group to rid us of this cockroach. Contact Silver Regent or the person who provided you with this document to hear more.

"Some of this is inaccurate." you state after taking it in.

"Normally we'd try to arrange for you to be transferred and obscured in light of this. That's not really possible at the moment." Anna says.

"Rain doesn't actually slow me down. That's something I made up to ...get Flawless Paladin to stop bugging me."

Anna makes a thin smile, "That was clever."

"I've also had breakthroughs in how many abilities I possess and how many I can express. My Wave Force spell has also improved. And I've never felt that portals were especially vulnerable to any of my effects."

"Please don't kill Flawless Paladin, we keep track of her and can use this to root someone out. I'm glad to hear that your Protagonist Syndrome is progressing nicely, try to keep your new powers hidden from her and it should help you out. And now you know what Silver Regent thinks she knows."

"Thank you. Is there anything else?"

Anna pulls the document away from you and seals the clipboard up again, "Yes, actually. Magical Girl Insight has a theory about what happened to Solid Core's team and you're at the middle of it. Follow me."

You follow her out of the office, "What happened to Solid Core?"

"We don't know. She was trying to open the Super Gate on Reluxus and ran into Goddess Grey on site. Somehow she and Goddess White talked her down, then we lost contact with all the girls deployed. And Solid Core had arranged for some very powerful girls to assist her. Red Rose, Maiden of the West, Solar and Lunar Radiance, Solid Drive, War Angel Gabriel, and a Greater Child of Nightmares all disappeared."

She continues, "This all happened at about the same time as you were fighting demons in that valley. We think Goddess Grey was trying to get inserted behind our forces so she could smash our defenses before Goddess Gold could arrive."

That's a chilling thought. One of the insane Goddess Four staring you in the face.

"What does this have to do with me?"

A blindfolded Magical Girl Insight (Prediction, Information, Legend Maker) leans out from an ajar door, "Your space-bending powers. You got them by eating something that had trapped you inside of it."

"Insight has an idea that she's rather attached to." Anna answers flatly.

"See, you use the broken pieces and they still do something. If there are other pieces left someone could use them to make a trap. And even if that isn't it it has to be some sort of space warping! Nothing else could incapacitate all of those Magical Girls, an Angel, and a Greater Nightmare all at once." Insight finishes with a predatory grin.

You have a sinking feeling in your gut, "And since I broke out once…"

"You're the best shot we have at getting them free!" Insight finishes.

"What if it was just some sort of favor with a being that killed them?"

You can remember the whole World engulfing you in streams of power. Even recall that you had almost ceased to be just by starting to see Her. And there are other beings like Gaia.

Insight shrugs, "In that case why would head bitch Silver Regent be hunting you down so hard? That actually supports my hypothesis. She got the bits of the prison artifact that you missed and pasted them together somehow. Once she used 'em she knew she had to get the other person that could use 'em. Magical Girl Summit. Besides, if she has a kill beam that can do that we're all pretty fucked anyway. Ganking West, Core, Red Rose, and White all at once is planet evaporating levels of crazy."

"Are Insight's ideas plausible to you?" Anna asks.

You run your escape from Hell in your mind again. It was all a bit of a blur when it happened and there was an overwhelming feeling of being lost for most of it. After driving away the snake-like demon Marax you had swept up the glowing fragments of your prison and Fused them.

That's right, Marax had a glowing chunk embedded in his eye when you had started striking him. You had missed at least one piece then.

"That's possible."

"Great! Let's head out and show the world that Legend-Makers are the bestest Magical Girls ever!"

"No, not just now. A call is going out to gather Magical Girls here. We expect to muster more than twenty in three days. Which is why Judgement Core will destroy the UD's fortifications after an attack this afternoon. Summit's mobility could be vital during the offensive." a man from inside Insight's room declares.

Insight feels along the wall and claps you on the shoulder, "Fine, after that we'll sally forth and save the fair maidens. I think head bitch is going to keep increasing the heat on you if we wait."

She taps your Panoply after a brief pause, "Huh, really trying for the title of strongest Legend-Maker. You've got a long way to go."

You frown, "I don't follow."

"Oh I'm not talking about myself. Brilliant Key can still beat you is what I meant."

Anna clears her throat, "We're getting off topic. Summit, if you would continue following me?"
----

"If Silver Regent is worried about you fusing our weapons we want to facilitate just that." Anna says, "And since you've been turning trash into gold we are willing to pull quite hard to get you equipped."

You've been led to a garage filled with metal and wooden boxes. A couple of obviously broken artillery sets are strapped to a pallet. Several of them are vividly magical to your senses.

That reminds you…

You pull out Mica's spear from your Panoply, "Can you get this cut in half for me? I haven't been able to cut it and would like to Fuse it."

Anna scratches her chin for a bit and starts talking to people through her radio. Someone comes by with an Angel's sword and saws through Mica's spear while you're working your way through the garage.
----

The rest of your time at Signals goes smoothly. Insight is led somewhere else, you let them take a photograph of you for scrying purposes. Nothing that catches your attention like Insight's chatting.

As you leave you notice Judgement Core animatedly talking about one of her battles to the receptionist while Judgement Drive watches her with a calm look. The older of the pair gives a slight wave as you leave.

You fly over to the dorms to check in with Steel Monsoon and consider your tasks for the rest of the day. As you walk in you see the girl from mall, Shapeless Isle, sitting on a couch with Floral Glory straddling her and… holding her arms back while she aggressively kisses her. Shapeless Isle shakes a bit but isn't able to throw Floral off of her.

"What are you doing to her?"

Why hadn't anyone else gotten involved? Floral breaks the kiss, sending a few drops of spittle flying, and turns to face you. Her face is almost totally flushed and she pants for air for a second. She doesn't let go of or stop sitting on Shapeless Isle either.

"It's fine, really. She wanted me to do this." Floral explains.

Shapeless Isle is as red-faced as Floral Glory and moves her head to hide behind Floral's.

"Uh… she gets power from kissing. And she shakes a lot while getting powered up. That's why I'm holding her." Floral adds

"Y-Yeah. I'm okay." Shapeless Isle agrees before Floral starts kissing her again.

You're certain that Isle isn't getting power from kissing. But you aren't sure what to do or say about it. You move past them feeling your own face heat up. They haven't even known each-other for an hour!
----

After checking with Steel Monsoon and the staff at the dorms you find that you have your typical free reign of projects and the option to rest at your discretion for the rest of the morning. After lunch you are supposed to be prepared to support the defense at a minute's notice, which amounts to much the same thing.

Funnily enough Steel Monsoon appears to 'know' that a big attack is planned three days from now.

Hmmm. A new character sheet for Floral Glory (with Master Spark included) would have been a nice addition.

[X] Fix a batch of tanks (forty repair actions (+20 working tanks))
-[X] Write-in: Actually, look into Machine Code's map that indicated which parts of the road the tanks weren't towable over, and fix that too - in addition to tanks, that is. Then you won't be the bottleneck for repairs anymore. Inform the Rokusabes and get confirmation that the route works.
[X] Study your own magic and try to improve or develop a spell
-[X] Write-in: See if Magical Girl Night Sky is available. With or without her, upgrade Guardian Touch, because saving your allies is also a good thing.

[X] EXP Plan Stable Gate (650 EXP)
-[X] Gating 6---10 (300 EXP)
-[X] Stabilize (350 EXP)

We actually have Machine Code's analysis on the road to Moral High Ground and where the problem spots are that tanks can't get towed over. Let's "teach them how to fish" and give them a working road.

Upgrading Guardian Touch give the spell Target-By-Modifier ability, with our Spell Boost it's literal hundreds of allies all at once. Nice, isn't it? Also, I hope this will make it ranged, because how else can we expect to cover those hundreds of allies?

Also, since we're going somewhere off-world, having a functional "get your team out of trouble" ability is at a premium. Stabilize gives us exactly that.

EDIT: Relevant quotes:
Guardian Touch:
Make Spell levelable and gain the Damage Barrier Ability -- 1 action.
Make Spell levelable and gain the Target by Modifier Ability -- 1 action.

Stabilize
-350xp
-Gating Level 10
Rather than teleporting immediately with Shifting or Gating you may choose to create a portal to your destination point. Any number of people may pass through, the portal vanishes when Summit passes through it or stops channeling this Ability.

The second was a bit more lengthy. Magical Girl Machine Code thanked you for your efforts and recommended (demanded) that your time would be better spent on building wunderwaffen instead of repairing tanks. She added a map showing the two points where a towed Anti-Demon Tank would get stuck with suggestions for how to terraform or construct a lift at those spots.
EDIT 2: Finally, barring anti-armor effects and hostile existence effects, one Guardian Touch cast grants (on its own) a buffer that allows one to survive 6250 Damage.

EDIT 3: If someone convinces me to build hovertanks rather than normal ones, I'm open to it.

there is an attack in 3 days, and hover tanks and whatever machine code can have us make are probably the most frontloaded option.

Anna may be undergoing protagonist syndrome -- likely due to her finally being provided with powerful weapons to consume.

so is this a fate thing? or is it the feedback loop of an MG being so dangerous they have to keep throwing everything at her, but as a result of surviving that starts growing at an insane pace?

You know how all the quest protagonists seem to grow at a stupidly fast rate? In universe it's an observed phenomena where a Magical Girl's growth starts to skyrocket for no particular reason.

-[X] Vampire (70 EXP)

Mark is only in there, because it has to be bought before one can buy Vampire.
What does that do anyway? Couldn't find it in LDj's ability bible.

[X] Find someone that can teach you more Brandcraft.
[X] Fix a batch of tanks (forty repair actions (+20 working tanks))
-[X] Actually, you think you can make them into big hovertanks (+15 Hovertanks)

[X] EXP Plan Stable Gate + Multi-slash and Vampire
-[X] Gating 6---10 (300 EXP)
-[X] Stabilize (350 EXP)

Mark is a spell, as are other bolded options in the ability ladders.

On a side note, did someone find it hilarious how Silver Regent believes about Summit that "Thankfully her offensive power is relatively anemic."
Not with 35% base damage increase and a whole lot of extra abilities (including Ray) she isn't.

"The short range and wind up make it possible to dodge this effect."

"An important limitation of her weapon is that it can only mimic a single form at a time."
I am laughing much more at these ones.

Reading that file makes me believe they got less than accurate information of what happened to massy :D

[X] Fly back to Signals and see if you can get something else delivered or visit somewhere with interesting equipment. (Afterburners)
[X] EXP Plan Stable Gate + Multi-slash and Vampire

I suspect we'd need the Afterburners for whats next

Major Gordon is disputing Summit's claims
Not cool, Jerk. Not cool.
Also, Im surprised Anna didnt just build her own supercomputer if she wanted to game.

Extremely amusing
And now with Anti-air & Homing, we're a nasty threat to any fliers - which happens to be a fair amount of MGs.

Also, now that we have To Defy the Gods and Aegis field's upgrade, Summit's durability is also much better against any MG kill team.

The "1 form limitation" is something we can use to really blindside them when we pull out all the new combinations.

*expects to dodge a few rockets*
*Gets blown away by Danmaku + Multi-shot + Anti-air + Ray*

[X] Get some rest, you've taken a beating lately.

-[X] Write-in: See if Magical Girl Night Sky is available. With or without her, upgrade Guardian Touch, because saving your allies is also a good thing.

Okay, to all the tank-builders - why not fix the road to Moral High Ground at the same time? This will put the local Unified Light forces into a better position, logistically.
EDIT: NVM, QM said that fixing the road is a more dedicated action not conductive to repairing a sizeable amount of tanks. I prefer 15 Hovertanks now (a decent combat group to hit from unexpected direction) to a repaired road. Maybe later.
