Between the Paleolithic period to the 1800s; what cities or towns in the US or Canada that can theoretically survive an event as traumatic as an ISOT or in other words being transported back in time?

Inspired by 1632, three fictional American towns gets transported in taira clan territory or their allies during the Genpei war. The first town is a farm town, the 2nd one is a oil town, and the 3rd one is a mining town. We see the three towns fight back against the taira clan and their allies and make alliances with other clans and beat the taira and get some land. The problem is I don't how approach this.
