While I disagree with NuWW's edgelord tendencies and find that both Zak S. and Martin Ericsson are total scumbags, I am actually glad that David Hill is gone from the Changeling 2e development team. Nothing personal against him, but I didn't like all the changes he made to Changeling or his writing and game design style in general. So far I have been disappointed with CofD 2e in general, but maybe a different take on Changeling 2e could sway me.

And then there's his political rants, but I won't even go there. Not a big fan of Anarcho-Communism (or any other extremist ideology for that matter. I believe in progressive liberal democracy and mixed-market socialism).

I hope he finds his niche somewhere else though, and wish the best for him as a person. Maybe he'll get a new job to support his family and hopefully mellow out.

So, I was checking my Pocket's recommendation list, when I get an article that lead me to know about Elsagate - Wikipedia

It's horrible, undoubtedly. But I can't help but think it'd make a nice WoD campaign. Intruder, perhaps. Or something more sinister?

A mage, a beast, a promethean, a demon, a changeling, and a single Urtha.
All in a pack.
Fighting a strx.

This fight scene is going to be fun to write, I think.

Yesferatu

Yesferatu is an up and coming heavy metal band headlined by singer and bassist Mitch Collins under the stage name Count OrRock. Yesferatu owes much of its success to the talents of makeup artist Bob Wilson, who handcrafts the grotesque masks that band members wear. Yesferatu's members have whole-heartedly embraced Wlson's repulsive creations and fully immersed themselves into their characters, rarely appearing out of makeup.

Mitch Collins
Much Collins was a half-assed bassists with more ambition than talent relegated to playing in low-rent dives with whatever small-time bands would have him. His emmense and undeserved ego was grating on all who knew him, and his only real fame was dating a vain and caustic model named Cynthia Woods, who vanished under mysterious circumstances, and he was a prime suspect in her disappearance. Cyndi had attracted the attention of a particularly vindictive Nosfaratu, the sort who likes to embrace the beautiful and vain, and was a victim of one of his pranks. Transformed into a hideous abomination, Cynthia didn't want to be alone. She didn't particularly like Mitch that much, but that just made it easier to inflict the Embrace on him. But Mitch was always the optimistic sort, and much to the shock of his clanmates, used the Embrace as an opportunity to reinvent himself.

As Count OrRock, Mitch's hideous appearance is an asset. It's part of the act, and integral to the showmanship. It's why people buy tickets.

Bob Wlson
Bob Wilson is actually a pretty good makeup artist, but he's not that good. He is, however, happy to take credit for Mitch's "mask." The powerful addiction to Mitch's blood also helps keep him loyal.

Other Band Members
Sin-D - Lead Guitar
Mudgett - Keyboard
The Masterd - Drums
Adolf Hess - Saxaphone/Cowbell/Harmonica/Pyro/Backing Vocals

A heavy metal band made up entirely of Nosfaratu, using the gimmick that they all wear repulsively grotesque masks. Sort of like GWAR. And thus, all the other Nosfaratu hate them (or want to be them).

While explaining this idea to clanmates who told him how terrible and dangerous it was, Mitch said. "Don't be a Nosfaratu, be a Yesferatu." And thus, the band name.

Band members chose their stagenames whimsically, with the only common theme being the slight air of menace.

To quote Mitch, "Curse? Curse? This ain't a curse. This is fucking awesome!"

And thus, half the Nosfaratu collectively facepalmed, and half said "we can do that?"

That's amazing. Yesferatu shall be the envy of all vampires, Nosferatu or not :V

As someone who unironically loves the "Trenchcoats & Katanas" style of gameplay in Vampire and conversely despises the very concept of "Personal Horror" to its core, I have considered an idea for a project of sorts for Vampire: The Masquerade.

This could be a fanfiction, a chronicle, an online quest, or anything else along those lines but the idea is Vampire: The Masquerade using the First Edition rules and the original Chicago setting, not using the metaplot whatsoever, and all done in the style of low-budget exploitation films and B-movies. Specifically, it'd be a mix of Quentin Tarantino, 1970's Grindhouse flicks, martial arts movies, and those old super-violent anime OVA's from the 1980's and early 1990's such as Ninja Scroll.

It'd be problematic and unapologetic to the WoD thematic purists, be action-packed and anime-influenced, contain a lot of violence and harsh language, be campy as fuck, and would forego artsy personal horror for something more fun and over-the-top. Katanas, Ninjas, and classic oldies music would also be involved somehow.

And it would be rated NC-17 by an all-Goth jury! This is Mature Entertainment!

You have been warned, fans of Personal Horror.

But in all seriousness, who else would be interested in a World of Darkness game done in the style of campy low-budget grindhouse flicks and Direct-to-VHS fare? I think the idea has potential, and probably would be easier to write than my meta-parody LARP fic idea I had.

Could we have actual details instead of the nth "I don't like vanilla WoD and uh... that Sisters of something band". Because, a Tarantino-y thing could be fun, but you didn't give any substance.

I didn't mention the Sisters of Mercy band in my post at all, but if you want substance here's the best I can describe so far, given that this project is in the early concept phase.

Basically, think along the lines of witty dialogue, stylized and over-the-top violence, action and adventure, urban settings, an atmosphere derived from both the grindhouse films of the 1960's and 1970's and the anime OVA Boom of the 1980's and 1990's, nods to grindhouse films and old-school anime OVA's, and very stylized and over-the-top protagonists.

There would be little in the realm of angst or lamenting over lost humanity. The theme of rebellion and "Anarchs vs. Elders" that was present in Masquerade 1E would also be present and emphasized strongly.

It would be Trenchcoats, Katanas, Guns, Blood, Martial Arts, Ninjas, Rebellion, and Anime Waifus with a heavy amount of witty dialogue and a dynamic oldies soundtrack (figuratively speaking).

I'd actually considered a game where the PCs are all Caitiffs who wake up in a warehouse, are told about the vampire conspiracy that rules the world, and had, unbeknownst to them, destroyed their lives. (You dad was eaten by vampires, vampires stole your job, vampires mind control you into killing your best friend just for the lulz, that sort of thing). So, having ample reason to hate vampires, being thrown together against their will, and being outside of the vampires' politial system, they have little choice but to fight, both for their own survival, and for great justice.

Of course, they'd also get a lot of Discipline dots, and they'd all be Caitiffs so all Disciplines would be available to them.

And the punch line would be that they're second generation.

Which is less of an advantage and more of something that makes every vampire in the world want to eat them.

...so what your telling me is that when Cain can't find a good enough action movie at the Cinema, he finds some people, turns them into Second Generations and lets them loose on the local prince for kicks, then sits back and watches the fireworks?

...I could get behind that.

Teenage rebellion with fangs, in short?

Could be fun.

Pretty much. The project was basically envisioned as both my dream Vampire chronicle and as a giant "Fuck You!" to the thematic purists who believe that personal horror is the only way to play WoD and any other way is "playing the game wrong" and that anyone who doesn't agree should play "Some Other Game".

So, yeah. Youthful rebellion is the core theme of this project overall.

For those who like personal horror, that is fine with me. You do you and I'll do me. There is a difference between people who simply enjoy personal horror and thematic purists who believe it's the "One True Way" to playing WoD.

What about Mage: The Ascension?

Wouldn't that be an even better fit?

True, but then again, so did early Vampire.

Yeah, but I'd argue that it's closer to the point-

Fuck it, maybe just do something like a hybrid campaign?

Also, just a heads up, I like it and I do think that the fact that it's divisive means that it's doing it's job right but I also think that it's a bit of a waste of potential and kind of a mess that really needs to be more obvious in some places and more opaque in others.

I think that consensual reality, for example, shouldn't be able to warp people's abilities or physical appearances or make them subhuman in general because said people also ultimately contribute to consensus and have far more say in who they are and who they turn out to be than the people around them generally do unless they let said other people define them or if the guy on the other end has actual mind control abilities that incidentally come from defying said consensus.

I also think that they should get rid of the idea of stasis patterns in their work or make them more opaque because the concept implies that there's an ideal future or right path to follow which... I dunno, goes against the central themes of the story line a little?
